Inside Out 2 is a 2024 American animated coming-of-age film produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures. The sequel to Inside Out (2015), it was directed by Kelsey Mann (in his feature directorial debut) and produced by Mark Nielsen, from a screenplay written by Meg LeFauve and Dave Holstein, and a story conceived by Mann and LeFauve. The film stars Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, Lewis Black, Diane Lane, and Kyle MacLachlan reprising their roles from the first film with Tony Hale (replacing Bill Hader as Fear), Liza Lapira (replacing Mindy Kaling as Disgust), Maya Hawke, Ayo Edebiri, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Paul Walter Hauser, and Kensington Tallman (replacing Kaitlyn Dias as Riley) joining the cast. It tells the story of Riley's emotions as they find themselves joined by new emotions that want to take over Riley's head.

I'm glad to hear Anxiety isn't made a "bad guy" or "villain" in this. As someone who regularly deals with anxiety (and loves classic Disney villains) I think it's more mature to treat anxiety as just a normal part of life and while you shouldn't let it consume you, it's also not something that can merely be "defeated" by more positive emotions forever.
@SlaveofChrist1
@SlaveofChrist1 27 күн бұрын
It can be defeated or dealt with or repented of, but not by just having positive emotions or just being happy. Idk it can definitely be dealt with but I think everyone just kinda says “stop it” without saying how to say how or actually help

@@SlaveofChrist1 because I think they never understand anxiety to its purest form. They just think of it as a phase. However it’s completely different than the expectations they originally had. Once they find a situation like it, they can’t control it, leading them down a dark path. Which is why I genuinely love this movie so much. It isn’t afraid to make you *feel* that emotion
@colbystearns5066
@colbystearns5066 27 күн бұрын
@@SlaveofChrist1 Anxiety can be controlled, even to a great extent and some people are more affected by it than others, but I don’t believe it can ever truly go away. It’s always lingering somewhere in the subconscious even in the most confident people who claim to have completely done away with it.

While I was enjoying the movie, it wasn’t until the climax and the moment the anxiety-grown sense of self and all that followed where I absolutely put it over the first movie precisely because it got me down to a T. I hate and have been ashamed to admit that anxiety really gets the better of me, and oftentimes it feels like, beyond moral support from friends and family, I can’t seem to temper it down.

This is the best non Toy Story sequel from Pixar. Doesn't surpass the original, but it's quite close. I love the moment when Anger shows sympathy for Joy when she breaks down, in fact, I love how all the emotions have a large role in this movie, not just Joy or Sadness. Thats nice to hear that last part, it feels like people usually tear down whatever lead actor (usually actress) thats chained to another moronic Disney flagship failure; and often times people blame that actor for all its issues and problems that can actually just be chalked up to Disney upper management. Ariana DeBose is a great actress if only for West Side Story, would’ve been great if she has an Encanto or Coco type film to work with, not a half-assed slapped-together shipwreck. She clearly has real vocal and acting talents. Unfortunately it seems like Rachel Zegler is gonna gave an even worse time whenever SnowWhite comes out, too much is riding on that film, and again all the attention will be on the actor rather than the writers or the company to blame

I feel this is another case of Spider-Verse or Lego Movie, in that both are great, whichever you feel is the better is up to personal preference, and the other is not diminished. While I LOVE Inside Out 1, Inside Out 2 impressed me with the way it handles it situation, takes things to the next level, and speaks to me personally. The moment the words “I’M NOT GOOD ENOUGH” popped up with anxiety, that hit me like a ton of bricks because holy crap that is pretty much how I feel every day. Did such a good job capturing anxiety its almost like looking into a mirror with the way it led Riley’s behavior.

The one thing I was dreading with this film was the ‘popular girl manipulating main character to break away from their friends’ cliche of which the trailers give heavy vibes. If the popular mean girl isn’t funny like Regina George then it’s just boring to me. Thankfully, Val wasn’t a mean girl and was actually trying to help Riley fit in, while her breaking away from her friends was all her doing. This was particularly refreshing since a certain animated film from a rival studio last year hinted they were going in a different route with the mean girl troupe…until it just turned into a twist villain reveal that they already spoiled in the trailers 😡. *stares angrily at Dreamworks* You know what you did! You better hope Wild Robot redeems you!

I couldn’t hear the scene because the applause was that loud. Well done Pixar… but please stop making toy story sequels. The horse is dead. It’s time to bury it and focus on your other projects.

So you’re actually the reason I saw the original Inside Out to begin with. I am a huge Disney movies fan, but man the trailers for the original were not my cup of tea. However…That movie changed the trajectory of my career as it inspired me to pursue a graduate degree in neuroscience (my first publication in artistic neuroscience releases this summer). So, if we’re being technical, without you, I wouldn’t have experienced the most influential film in my lifetime. Seeing the sequel tonight. 💛🧠

I remember at the end where joy is taking off the belief system that’s saying “I’m a good person” and there’s another system under it that has a lot of emotions like “I’m selfish” “I’m not good enough” “I’m the worst” and it really shows how much Riley was keeping inside by staying positive and I love that they have a message without telling the message which is very more believable then trying to shove it down your throat. Just saw it for the second time today, but I'm so tired I won't even bother to make a long review in the IMDB style, so I'll just say here how much I recommend it. The new emotions doing something more than just jumping around the console and throwing one-liners like most Disney sidekicks was a big relief. Bing Bong not coming back was also a relief. The fact there was no Bing Bong moments wasn't that bad, but that also made the film have slightly less stakes. That's not very bad either, it's just disappointing. The worldbuilding kinda felt lazier than in the prievous film. There's too little new locations, and most of the film takes place in something we already seen before, minus a few details. That's lackluster, on the other hand. There was definitely more things not done right, but for the biggest part it's one of the most solid Disney sequels we've seen so far, and that completely wipes out Ralph Breaks the Internet's existence. The jokes almost always landed, the references to the pop culture were stellar, and the dramatic scenes were done masterfully. For the first time director, that's a big W. Somehow, the good Pixar films returned... Take that, Lightyear! Big 8/10 for me. I need more Inside Out than Toy Story, Minions, Bad Boys, Alien whatever, they're good and make money and all, but this... It's perfect. Inside Out has infinite potential for shows, spin-offs, sequels, theme park attractions, maybe even games, and for now it never misses. Even the characters themselves push this film to the great highs with their top tier designs, especially Embarrassment. I love the new updated crew, and I demand more Inside Out! 💛🧡

I just finished the movie and liked it. They didn’t make anxiety a full blown villain just another emotion who wanted to protect Riley and make her happy. It’s just when you’re anxious you tend to overcorrect and second guess and question everything and lose yourself, so it’s good to have joy and your other emotions balance you out. Sure this movie tried to simplify a complex subject like experiencing new emotions when you grow up, but for a kids movie, they nailed it enough that it’s a decent balance of understandable for kids but not too dumbed down for adults

As someone who suffers from anxiety I thought I was going to hate the character Anxiety. As soon as I saw her in the trailer, I felt like Ivan Drago. "I must break you." Spoilers but honestly think the best part of the movie is when Riley starts to have her first big panic attack at the climax, because as a person who really struggles with anxiety even outside of school during the summer for almost no reason at all. That got me emotional to the point I started crying, up until the movie ended, also since I brought my mom to see the movie by the climax I could also tell that my mom was kind of tearing up too. Which totally suprised me because, yes my mom (and both of my parents in general) certainly can cry. I was not expecting her to tear up in a movie theater along with me while watching a movie from the same company as Mickey fricking mouse. Like I sort of expected myself to cry at the climax, because I did when the first inside out movie released, and I’m pretty vulnerable to crying in certain situations, like for example my favorite show ending.

I feel like the next one could be about her becoming a mother of her own and the stresses of taking care of your own child. That isn't really explored with Rileys parents very much because Riley was a pretty happy girl throughout her childhood life for the most part. I've seen my sister go through these things with her son, and he is socially disabled. She wants to give up some days, she gets depressed, she doesn't know what to do to help him sometimes, but in the end she wants him more than anything to succeed. It's very conflicting to feel like you love something that annoys the crap out of you.

I actually never saw the first one until last night AFTER taking my son to watch the second one on his request. The second movie hit me so hard in so many good ways and when we got home I insisted on watching the first one too. It’s an incredibly relatable movie because it’s not necessarily about a girl or a boy that’s hitting puberty and gaining all these new emotions. It’s about a person. What Riley’s going through isn’t gender coded to either side and everyone can see a little bit of themselves in the struggles and experiences she’s having and it’s just an incredibly well told story.

Inside Out is S tier for me Inside Out 2 is A++ for me . I'm also incredibly bias because Sadness is my favorite emotion of the 10 and the message of how sadness is needed for a healthy mind and it helps you appreciate joy hits way to close to home on a personal level. On the other hand, Anxiety is also a heavy hitter personally for me, the heavy breathing, Riley hitting herself with her hockey stick, the whirlwind that was anxiety and having to "let go " was spot on. The only gripe I had with the film, and its a VERY SMALL gripe, is that Inside Out (the original) had moments where it slowed down and you took a step back from the emotional chaos, it was few but it was there. Like the Joy ice skating scene or the conclusion where sadness holds the core memories...it was just..slow.. silent.. somber. Just hit a bit different. Inside Out 2 is very well paced but we don't stay still, even the semi quiet moments feel fast (joy breaking down or her with the sense of self in the pile of bad memories) were still rushed because Anxiety is causing havoc. Which in turn..fits the theme , intentional or not. Either way, I still fucking loved this movie and going to see it probably 1 or 2 more times.

Maya Hawke is honestly the exact right voice for Anxiety. You really just want to hug her. Between this and Last Wish, I appreciate the focus in mainstream animated films to actively talk about the internal struggle of a panic attack, and the support a person having one needs. The only issue I have with taking these films further is that by definition, in order to have a compelling story, Riley is going to have to undergo even further severe trauma (what's a good follow-up for One's depression and Two's anxiety?).
