I came to see the review of the Ace Pro 2 but I'm literally more intrigued at your riding skills, man that's insane, I got dizzy just watching you lol If that was me, I would have been the 'coyote' flat against the first tree, I wouldn't even attempt that trail in the daylight and you did it at night 🤣 I did go back and watched it again for the review, great review, Ace Pro 2 is officially the GP killer ;)

10-bit isn’t necessary for social media posting. It gets compressed down to 8-bit anyway when you upload it.

Mos monitors, screens can't show 10 bit. But more color info the better. But if it's already looks good but gets compressed to 8 bit on KZbin it's not a big deal I guess. But I see it makes a difference side by side in some footage I saw of Action 5. After editing too. Even I watched on a 8 bit monitor. But it's the color correction that gets the biggest benefit of 10 bit. But the Ace Pro 2 clearly wins the low light battle.

Yeah and I feel people are over hyping it , Ace pro has the best colors out of the box any action camera so far, this is huge, because 90% of users arent going to be transferring the giants files everytime they shoot something to a powerful PC to then color grade

@@mtbboy1993 yeah just didn't type the 2, I'm not even familiar with the first one since I got back in the market for a new camera now and just looking at the most recent ones, but since I've seen the videos of all of them in the computer, and there you can really tell the difference in definition, DJI action 5 is on another level, then you have ace pro and then go pro, Wich for me was mind-blowing because the last time I was researching cameras there wasn't anything even close to he go pro (7)

Insta products are KILLER!! The GoPro13 isn't all that it's cracked up to be-- the GoPro11 is a better camera all around....but Insta products destroy all other action cameras.

Thanks for the comparison! For some reason I feel like I would still prefer GoPro. Gopro's ultra wide mode is killer as well, getting 177 fov in that form factor seems incredible. But this camera is a definite night killer! I don't ride in night, but for those who does, this seems like a must have tool

Solid points! The only thing is you need to buy an extra lens to get an even wider FOV, and the Hero13 alone is already more $ than the ace pro 2.

In your first scenario I actually prefer the GoPro footage until you get to the very dark section where clearly it's a little too dark. The rest of the ride I preferred on the GoPro though. Sure it was a little darker but still clear and appeared to be more defined.

Yeah, people are easily fooled. They are excited about a camera with generally worse footage because it looks brighter in the dark.. lol. 1 advantage that isn't nearly as important as most of the rest.

Hey Mark great video. But for not low light go pro + a max lens mod (or not) offers quite a lot of better recording modes. Would be great if the insta would offer a wide lens mod. I checked also some specs and it seems go pro can go higher frame rates in most cases. But at low light.... Wow Would be great if insta would finally release a wide lens.

Yea you can offset this a bit with higher iso and shutter speeds but that leads to grainier footage in both cameras. Kind of a trade off.

Great comparisson on footage. Love how you put them to the test! Do you know if either can have the wireless switched off? I am extremely electrosensitised and need to be able to switch off the Bluetooth and WiFi functionality.

Why the EV comp makes the stabilization better is because you are telling the camera that it does not have to be so bright so it can raise the shutter speed. In movement you need 1/100 - 1/200 shutter speed for the Gopro or it's stabilization on low light will break. Though if you let it go to MAX ISO even if you have locked the shutter speed then there will be too much noise in the image for the stabilization to work. Setting it manually to for example 1/200 and MAX ISO 1600 it should never break if there is some light, but the image will be darker. On the first part I actually like the Gopro way better, yes it looks softer but no jitter at all. I'm actually amazed how much jitter there is on ACE 2 when doing sports, maybe due to low light. On the other hand in pitch dark + flashlight the night mode in ACE 2 looks great, gopro footage is just too dark.

The problem is despite it's poor low light the Gopro is the only camera with enough field of view with Maxmod. Maxmod is 155 degrees and Maxmod 2.0 is 177 degrees. The optimal would be somewhere between that at 165. Without the maxmod I think normal lens is about 135 degrees which just isn't enough. Even with Gopros issues with lowlight it's still the only camera with enough lens angle. I've had Gopro 10 and 12. I was thinking of switching to Acepro this summer until I realized it doesn't have a wide field of view.

This new ace pro 2 fixes that issue with a sluggish larger FOV than hyper view and no other lens mods needed. The old ace pro was too narrow for MTB.

@@MarkMatthewsMTB Gopro12 had worse stabilization with the 175 maxmod 2.0 than 10 with the original 155 maxmod. So if the stablization doesn't suffer then there might be no downside on the acepro2.

It’s not as sharp when not in pure video mode, I would say for when it gets pretty dark, pure video mode looks much better than all over footage, however. It is bigger/heavier than. GoPro though, too big for a half shell under the visor with the current mounting system.

I would say use ace pro for night time when it's really needed, but go pro has much better colors, and ace pro has this oversaturated, over sharpened look which plays very badly with KZbin video compression...

You should film in flat/neutral color and then in post, color grade it. I generally do not pay attention to the color settings the reviewers use. your point about yt video compression is spot on.

True, flat color on the insta360 isn’t recommended as it doesn’t use true log and only 8-bit. I’ve had better luck color grading on standard color profile and adjusting from there.

hi mark cool video. but can you make a video with the chest mount? because with the ace pro 1 and the chest mount the video was just blurred! the wight between the insta ace and the dji ist 30g and belive me with a chest mount you will see the differenct. maybe with the pro 2 not........ thanks and ride on!

Yes I don’t like chest mount for that reason, it’s the shakiest place to mount a camera. Even 360 footage jitters.

you're thinking of shutter speed, frame rate does not affect clarity, but at speed you get more of a motion blur effect happening in the sides of frames, when it's just your eyes tricking you a bit.

@@MarkMatthewsMTB Most people leave the shutter speed on auto which will lower it for lower framerates (at least the gopro 9 and 12 do). At 60fps it won't go below 1/60th shutter. Also yeah the added eye tracking blur definitely makes it worse at lower fps.
