So my husband and I watched a few Anderson you tube installation videos and yours was the favorite. It explained step by step. Thank you it was helpful. It did take us more than 45 minutes. We stopped an hour into it because of another appointment. He came back to it and it took another 30 minutes to finish with watching your video in between. Thanks again Justin, very helpful. I'm moderately handy. I did have to readjust a couple screws. Took 1.5hrs. Saved $100 bucks an hour to not pay for install. Great video.

Just ordered the 4000 series, awaiting arrival at HD. Do the attached orange spacers allow the door to be square when tilted into position?? I've watched several install vids of this door, and have yet to see a single person using a level on top or sides to confirm. I would much prefer to install myself - bc, I'm really frugal...but never attempted an install like this and watching your video, although phenomenally instructional and informative, may also be a bit deceiving as you make it look EASY!!! I did learn how to do a complete brake job via KZbin - so there is that!! TIA for any input.

A couple of things that were not obvious to me: 1. at 20:29, that metal rod that extends can also twist and you may have to twist it to get it into position. 2. at 19:24 that little piece can be safely moved back if your door isn't flush. 3. 17:02 Beware the metal shavings. I didn't see this part of the video until after I finished that part. 4. 5:51 The door can be really tough to open. I thought I was going to break something. And it sounded like glass creaking. If you pull the plastic part out on the bottom and tug really hard the door will come loose. I had to do the same on the top. The door finally pulled open so hard it shook off the middle plastic also.

Thanks for the vid! About to put mine in and I’m concerned about the storm door frame making it square to a slightly off plum door frame. Any tips? I checked my hinge side of my frame and it’s nearly level and square but the other side was not square and slightly bent in from the top and out at the bottom. The top width is within tolerance but the bottom is 36.5”. Would I need a spacer or shim at the bottom? Did your Andersen come with shims? Thanks

Mine came with shims at the bottom that you remove during the installation. I don't know if it will cause issues, not being square, but I assume you will be fine. Let me know how it goes.

Just a note. It's very important to check the clearance needed between the interior storm door handle and deadbolt assembly on the house door BEFORE installing. We have a 2.5 inch jamb, but our deadbolt on the house door was at the same height as the storm door handle. The storm door handle hits the house door deadbolt! The only advice Andersen gave was getting an opposite handed swing, but this is not an option for us.

Did you have the spacers at the bottom while installing? That could cause it to get stuck at the bottom. If the frame is crooked, that can cause it to get stuck also.

Basically, the dead bolt and other latch will not latch to the rail on the handle side of the storm door frame. it was professionally installed, but the contractor insists that a strike plate was missing from the kit. basically, your video confirms that there is no strike plate, and the door latches directly to the frame. so i’m thinking that my contractor installed the frame wrong.

Oh my goodness. Sorry to hear that. It's hard to tell what the contractor screwed up without seeing it. I assume the contractor put it in crooked because he probably removed the bottom spacers before setting it in the frame.

My door didn't have the already pre drilled long slots for the deadbolt and handle, I took it back! Guy at diy said it's universal door and doesn't come with the slots!! How the hell then am I supposed to make those long slots then I asked, he didn't understand what I was asking!
