I'd just like to take a second and address how amazingly thought out this video is and how well the editing and camera angles are. You really gotta appreciate that he put this much effort in to this. I also like that he bothered to check the ride height before and after many videos like this don't, this guy just needs to voice over instead of the one shot video and then he would have some chrisfix level content.

i love chris fix but this video is just as good or better than chris fix. :) the video contains everything i need to swap out my shocks and coilovers. nothing is missing. no need to waste time with a voice over.

Great job. answered several questions I had about installing Napa shocks. One thing I found out when setting the jacks was to set them at the shackle point at the rear of the trailer. It allows the axle to drop far enough down so that putting the shock in is much easier. Prior to that I had them set towards the middle of the truck, which made the space an inch shorter than what I needed. It was impossible to try and compress the shocks to fit in the shorter space. Thank you.

I had a set of these installed years ago on my first car a 64 Impala because rear would bottom out easily with passengers. Impala had super soft suspension before. It made the car much much better. I prefer these to air shocks because u don’t have to worry about any air leaks or where to put the hoses, etc

I have a set on my '65 Mustang after the air shocks were always needing air. Alot of people ask me how my F150 holds so much weight. It really doesn't, I load my trailer correctly and with the coil overs it supports some more tongue weight. The truck normally sits level front to back when I'm hauling no matter how much weight I'm pulling. I also have Powerstop towing brakes all the way around which for me they work great also.

this is an excellent video! omg. thank you so much. the nuances with jacking up the body and axel are really fantastic. i have been looking a the coil over shocks on my rig wondering what to do about them. i want to install bilstein shocks with springs (coil over if they have them) heh. have a great day.

Did you mount them upside down? All the water debris mud will go into the shock . arent you supposed to have the inner rod at the bottom so gravity pushes wTer dirt etc away from the housing

With all due respect I was thinking the same exact thing you were. I thought the rod always went toward the bottom.

Every truck I've put them on rides/acts differently. Sometimes the coil overs raises the ride height more then expected, sometimes less. I've had good luck with them. They def help stabilize the rear suspension over holes, and bumps when loaded. Thanks for watching!

I don't notice a difference at all in ride quality other then it helps keep the wheels from bouncing on rough roads with tons of pot holes.

@@bwcafishing I haven't had any issues in any weather condition on my own truck. I'm always in the mud, dirt, dust, water, etc, and they've held up. Every person will prob have different results but I've had 3 sets on 3 different yr F150's and haven't had any issues. I want to see a trailer on the back to see how much of the back squatted down
@okcvet1st2 жыл бұрын
Well, depends how heavy the trailer is and how you load it for how much it squats. These don't add thousands of pounds of support but they do a few hundred. If you need a lot more support, air bags are another option. I know I tow a lot but I also distribute the weight when loading. I def go over the vehicle rating often, but have no issues and the coil-overs help keep the headlights out of the sky.

Do you remember how this changed the way the vehicle handled?
@okhotrodder2 жыл бұрын
I've installed these on several different trucks. I've had good luck with them. Normal driving can't really tell a difference in handling. Towing I'd say they help plant the axle on rough roads to decrease bouncing. The only thing lately that has been annoying is they started squeaking a little after a few yrs. The ride has been normal and the extra weight capacity has def been a plus. The next step up would be airbags to increase towing capacity. My brother put airbags on his and a world of difference how much more weight he can haul with zero sag.
