Wow! You are installing some serious equipment! Electricians are amazing people. Everything is looking great, keep pushing through, you are going to make it across the finish line. On a side note...I read one time where a home owner was putting in a new circuit breaker in the box, had a screw driver in one hand, breaker in the other, the phone in his pocket on vibrate and then he got a phone call just about the time he was tighten the screw down. Screw driver went through the window!

I’d bet that pad for the transformer is 12” thick with 2 horizontal layers of rebar.
@charlesconyer60343 жыл бұрын
Actually you would be amazed by the small amounts of concrete and rebar. I am a journeyman subtech and build substations setting hundreds of big transformers. For a 155,000 lbs transformer we only did 12 inch thick concrete with 2 layers of rebar. 4500 mix with test breaks at 7,14,21,28 days before the tranny is set. Usually set by a jack and slide but occasionally by crane.

Back in my Brown and Root days I watched electricians shoot "birdies" through conduit with compressed air with a pull string attached to the birdie. Then a stronger pull tape was attached and plenty of lube. They called them birdies because they were shaped like a badminton birdy.

There’s nothing as satisfying as a well placed “that’s what she said” joke 😂😂
"Four hundred" refers to the size of the cable. It is a measurement of the cross sectional area of the cable. The unit is "kilo-circular mils", or "kcmil", or "MCM" which is an archaic expression. One kcmil = 0.5067 square millimeters, so "400" is a cable with a cross sectional area of 400 x 0.5067 = 202.68 sq millimeters, or 0.314 sq in. Ironically, that number is pi ÷ 10. I don't think that is a coincidence.

From my experience with most all the electrical companies in the San Antonio area FELPS is the best Because it is FELPS you were able to get 400 amps all the rest would have done a survey of your full load and gave you a precent of that And when you expanded you would have to go through this all over again My shop has expanded and I have CPS and most days we have to run only some machines And run other’s on second shift we could run one shift if we could get more power Like I say “ we are in Manufactering desert land” I hope the power problems we had in February will get state and federal help to fix are power grid the President said he wants to improve infrastructure let see Like good shooting don’t hold your breath
