A little cutting oil goes a long way with drill bits.....you were really smokin’ that specialty bit!

We usually use oil to drill anything ... these drill tap bits are kind of tricky because you can’t really go slow using them with the impact drill. But we’re still learning so maybe there’s some trick we don’t know. 🙂

Hi great job you two mammoth task ahead, just one consideration you need to check, if I heard correctly you are fitting the glass doors from the inside you may find the water that runs down the glass on the outside rain etc may leak inside as the drip seams are designed for the windows to be fitted from the outside ,worth a check. Thank you & thanks for the advice! 😊 We installed the doors in the exact same place they would be if installed from the outside. Eventually they will be framed from the exterior (finishing touches). There is a place for the water to be drained out from the door on each side on the exterior. So far it’s been leak free & it’s been 2 years.

oh and to get windows and stuff super clean buy yourselves a little kettle steam cleaner...... cleaning with steam... gets stuff Crystal clean.... healthy too!

@@PacificPinesRanch youll clean everything with it.. do not clean your pets with it,,, its boiling steam,, and steam burns are painful... but if your careful,, clean paint on cars windows, great for getting stains out of carpets... your couch,, the shower and toilet.... mine gets used pretty much every day and night....my friends always come over and its not to see me... they wanna borrow the steamer lol :)..... itll change the way you clean,,,,, its uber fast too! done and done

So when you say mis-orders for the windows and doors, was this something you were looking at Home Depot, Lowes, or some other company? We’re in the process of trying to find windows & doors and we don’t need them to match similarly to how you guys are doing it.

We got our windows and doors from Discount Windows in Oregon. They sell surplus and misorders or damaged windows and doors. Restore is also a good place to check and they are located all over the US.

It would have been so much easier to modify your container on the ground and then lift it in place. Installing the Windows like you did you will find out yourself in the future that you will have major leagues in the container there is a special weather in casing you can design to go around the window first using very limited sealer

We couldn't install the doors and windows before craning them into place because the container flexes when they are picked up and we didn't want to risk the glass breaking. It's been 4 years and no leaks so far.

The DAP could been too old. Some silicone will never set if it is too old.

PLEASE PUT empty soda cans on top of that rebar coming out of the ground. If someone falls off, it can impale..

that's a lot of thermal bridging with the metal brackets touching exterior and reaching interior

They don’t reach the exterior. They are welded to the interior door frames. Once the insulation is installed it should be fine. Luckily it doesn’t get too cold or too hot here anyways. 🙂

We started with no building experience so at the time we didn't think we would need one but looking back we could have definitely used a bunch of scaffolding! You live you learn :)

@@PacificPinesRanch yeah hindsights easy aint it..... but if you do come across a cheap second aluminium lightweight snap together with a platform..... grab it! youll use it all the time...trust me
