At 8:35 where you spin the top of the mushroom vent takes me back to 66 when we were on our own canal boat on the Staff and Worcester Canal. We were on a short trip and dad had sat two vents into their spaces. He did not secure them unbeknownst to me. I took great glee in spinning one of them, until I gave it one almighty spin which sent it flying off into the canal never to be seen again. Needless to say, I was banished to the cabin for the remainder of the trip. Love your channel.

Hi Vic, Love watching you work on the boat. You take your time and do the job right with the right tools, two thumbs up to you. HINT: When you cut pipe draw a line around the circumference. Then as you cut through the pipe, rotate it and follow the line. I have always found this to provide me with a good straight cut. Take care, Mark Alberta, Canada

Second this. But they aren’t open at the moment while they do the work on the boat, so I’m sure that’s why we haven’t seen any of that, because she won’t be making cakes if they aren’t open.

Vic, pull that pipe down and add some sealant to the top, to stop the fumes coming back into the boat and to stop the heat escaping in the cold weather. Personally, I would have removed that rear window, fitted a bit of plywood with a hole in it and gone out that way. saves you having to make good if you remove the roaster and one less place for the water to enter 😞

I feel ya on the hole cutting shipmates! Patience and not too much pressure, a slower speed than you would think and some good cutting oil to help works wonders. I had to cut many holes in stainless steel and i'm not going to tell you it was always easy - once I even went through 3 hole cutters and one of the directors came out to do it in the end (i'd been using too much speed and pressure so the metal got hot and the cutting edges rounded off and went blunt)... *Sure this is a massive waffle about holes and metal cutting... but by god it feels good to vent! haha!! 🤣
@philroberts7238Ай бұрын
Well, this cutting WAS all about the vent!

Hello. Is there any chance of heat from the roaster scorching the worktop? Maybe you did more than one coat of the protective white oil? The hole is not easy as it's on an angle. Love your workmanship and ideas. I have a dream of coming to H t Cafe B one day when I am travelling not in France! Thank you.
@sweetpeainfrance6729Ай бұрын
again i think about three layers of oil at least because when it has a wet wipe over clean the oil does eventually fade... You must also leave time between coats for it to properly dry or cure.

Enjoy your videos but a bit concerned that a plastic drain pipe as a hot air vent and the heat from a coffee roaster are not going to be compatible. Dangerous even. If it doesn't melt you may have an issue with toxic fumes from hot plastic.
