Hi Perry, It's not absolutely necessary, to disconnect the battery, but it's always good practice to remove the negative terminal.

@@Eagle4x4PickupAccessories I tried it by connecting to drl and ground pins on RH headlight connector but this effected functioning of park/position light on that side. DRL works without any issue but once the drls are off and park/position lights are activated, position/park lights on connected side does not work. For example at night, low beams and position lights are on at LH side but on RH side only low beams are working and position light doesn’t come ON. Just wanted to share.
