In the song when they sing "Where do we go now?" they literally used that as filler when they were writing the song. They didn't have lyrics, and so Axl Rose just starting singing "Where do we go? Where do we go now?" on loop, so that the band could keep riffing. It ended up being catchy, so they decided to just turn that phrase into the lyric itself. Pretty cool!

When 'Appetite For Destruction' came out in 1987, most of the main rock bands who were big at the time were freaking out because how good and fresh it was. I can't remember exactly which musician said this, but he said something like "we were all wondering how the hell are we going to top THAT". BTW, if you want to hear some awesome shredding by Slash, check out 'Double Talkin Jive live Argentina 1992'.

For me this is THE iconic 80's rock song, and the best from Guns N' Roses. And so far I haven't heard anyone pull of a solo like Slash. Some may have the technique, but not the "musicality". But it may be the same reason that a lot of people like jazz that just sounds like noise to me.

For me, being there, this is the end of the era. The era is actually over when this comes out, and we just don't know it yet. A few more bands will squeak out past this. (Skid Row?!??!?) Maybe ... _maybe_ ... if Axl wasn't a head case things would play out different, but grundge is already banging on the door in the form of some of the West Coast punk, Areosmith is one of the most popular bands in the world, "Alt" is already real, and the 80's hair bands are dead. In fact, this album, G&R is touring behind Motley Crue, behind Ozzy. They go from 0 to 60 in less than a second, Axl's head blows up on cocain and ego - G&R essentially dies at birth; it's just that it takes a few years for the world to notice they're dead. Slash needs to wait years before he can quit covering in America who he is and become himself for real. Meanwhile, the 80's hairbands die a kinda quiet death when people realize they like Nirvana more than they like Queensryche. BTW, iconic 80's song would have to be something by Blondie, or maybe even Kenny Loggins, Footloose. :p Motley Crue Home Sweet Home was prom song for every prom in the world in the spring of '86! If you didn't get laid at some point in April of 1986 listening to Home Sweet Home, you probably weren't born yet, and might have been getting conceived.

Most bands are comprised of a singer, guitar player, bass player and drummer. They have a rhythm guitar player to hold down the groove while Slash plays solo parts. The sounds you’re hearing are based on the tones they choose for their amps. Distortions, reverbs, etc. all play a key factor on the sound the guitar makes through the amplifier.

Axl had a unique voice and I thought it was great on AFD.

@ian finney Myles is technically a better singer than axl but I don’t like his style. It’s kind of too high pitched nasally sounding. Don’t care for his vibrato either. He seems like a super cool dude though. I prefer velvet revolver to slash with Myles. It had a harder edge.

I met my first love on a Florida trip the next month, she gave me a copy of the Appetite for Destruction album. It became one of my favorite albums ever. But thats as far as it went for me GnR wise. Ive seen em once on their Use Your Illusion Tour, and Ive only listened to a number of songs since. But theyve made their mark. And I think Slash is truly one of Rock's most gifted guitarist out there. Ever. I love that he's of color. I love his style of guitar play. I love the top hat. 🎩 The man is Rock n Roll. Hands down.

For me, Dirt is the song that defines Alice In Chains, specifically Layne’s wish to just end the pain he endured for so long…

Should do nutshell unplugged, I'd also love to see them do some mad season live especially river of deceit. Imo nutshell and River of deceit are 2 must for any reaction channel.

"It ain't like that" rips. One Layne and Jerry's best vocal choruses imo. Their harmonizing was what made them stand out. Jerry's guitar riff in this song smokes too.

This song has one of the most badass guitar solos ever laid down IMO… it’s a two part piece that Slash just let his genius, talent and passion take over… that softer opening then it kicks it up in the 2nd half with the wah pedal … then just seamlessly flows into that bridge/breakdown…. For as overplayed as this song is, it’s still an absolutely stellar song. So well written from the lyrics, the instrumental, the melodies in the vocals, how catchy and infectious the hook is.. and c’mon, that opening guitar run that kicks off the song is one of the most recognizable pieces of music EVER written… anybody can say what they want about this song, fukk em, this shit is as classic and epic as any song can get… the fact that it became such a gigantic humongous hit is a testament to exactly every point I made.. great fukkin song

Me and my wife are loving watching you two on your journey of expanding your knowledge of music artists. Don't worry about it Lex as my wife and I are the same way when it comes to our personal tastes in music. I look forward to see you both finding more artists that you enjoy in the varied genre of music. You have just begun as there are so many good bands that you probably still haven't heard yet. I can't wait to see your reactions to some more of our personal favorites. Even when its a band we both love there are still some songs that we don't like. Remember music is an art form so its very subjective.

Brad when you lose the beat in a rock song. You fill the void by feeling the guitar and just follow it just like a beat. Helps if you are though to. lol

It's a love song for sure. He feels protective of her, "I'd hate to look into those eyes and see an ounce of pain." And she's where he finds comfort. "Her hair reminds me of a warm safe place where as a child I'd hide, and pray for the thunder and the rain to quietly pass me by." That's his Mom - this first protector. It's actually a pretty sweet song for a group that usually blows the roof off the place. ;)

The two biggest primadonas of all time! I dig Van Halen with David Lee Roth and that song is definitely worth a look. In my mind Roth isn't even in Axl s league. Now Slash vs Eddie Van Halen on lead guitar is a very worthy and interesting match up

People from this era, dislike rock or rock and roll without knowing much about it, until you find one song you like that leads you to listening to more from the band which then opens your mind and leads you to listen to other bands from this era until you realise that you actually like it a lot. Basically what happened to me until I first heard hotel California and by the way I see myself reflected in you guys just like when I first heard a rock song that I liked, your videos a super fun and they’ve actually help me find even more new music!!💙💪🏽
