In the song when they sing "Where do we go now?" they literally used that as filler when they were writing the song. They didn't have lyrics, and so Axl Rose just starting singing "Where do we go? Where do we go now?" on loop, so that the band could keep riffing. It ended up being catchy, so they decided to just turn that phrase into the lyric itself. Pretty cool!

For me this is THE iconic 80's rock song, and the best from Guns N' Roses. And so far I haven't heard anyone pull of a solo like Slash. Some may have the technique, but not the "musicality". But it may be the same reason that a lot of people like jazz that just sounds like noise to me.

For me, being there, this is the end of the era. The era is actually over when this comes out, and we just don't know it yet. A few more bands will squeak out past this. (Skid Row?!??!?) Maybe ... _maybe_ ... if Axl wasn't a head case things would play out different, but grundge is already banging on the door in the form of some of the West Coast punk, Areosmith is one of the most popular bands in the world, "Alt" is already real, and the 80's hair bands are dead. In fact, this album, G&R is touring behind Motley Crue, behind Ozzy. They go from 0 to 60 in less than a second, Axl's head blows up on cocain and ego - G&R essentially dies at birth; it's just that it takes a few years for the world to notice they're dead. Slash needs to wait years before he can quit covering in America who he is and become himself for real. Meanwhile, the 80's hairbands die a kinda quiet death when people realize they like Nirvana more than they like Queensryche. BTW, iconic 80's song would have to be something by Blondie, or maybe even Kenny Loggins, Footloose. :p Motley Crue Home Sweet Home was prom song for every prom in the world in the spring of '86! If you didn't get laid at some point in April of 1986 listening to Home Sweet Home, you probably weren't born yet, and might have been getting conceived.

Most bands are comprised of a singer, guitar player, bass player and drummer. They have a rhythm guitar player to hold down the groove while Slash plays solo parts. The sounds you’re hearing are based on the tones they choose for their amps. Distortions, reverbs, etc. all play a key factor on the sound the guitar makes through the amplifier.

For as overplayed as this song is, it’s still an absolutely stellar song. So well written from the lyrics, the instrumental, the melodies in the vocals, how catchy and infectious the hook is.. and c’mon, that opening guitar run that kicks off the song is one of the most recognizable pieces of music EVER written… anybody can say what they want about this song, fukk em, this shit is as classic and epic as any song can get… the fact that it became such a gigantic humongous hit is a testament to exactly every point I made.. great fukkin song

The two biggest primadonas of all time! I dig Van Halen with David Lee Roth and that song is definitely worth a look. In my mind Roth isn't even in Axl s league. Now Slash vs Eddie Van Halen on lead guitar is a very worthy and interesting match up

BTW.. this is the Radio Cut version.. which is not as good as the full version.. the transition into the final solo is screwed up in this version because of the way the buildup was cut out.

I think you guys would get like "Rocket Queen" and "Night train"

People from this era, dislike rock or rock and roll without knowing much about it, until you find one song you like that leads you to listening to more from the band which then opens your mind and leads you to listen to other bands from this era until you realise that you actually like it a lot. Basically what happened to me until I first heard hotel California and by the way I see myself reflected in you guys just like when I first heard a rock song that I liked, your videos a super fun and they’ve actually help me find even more new music!!💙💪🏽

She doesn’t think much of this song? This is a classic! An anthem! I’m shocked!

I mean, it's a pop song essentially and the edited version makes it even moreso. Slash used to hate the song for a reason. lol

Axel Rose has the widest vocal range of most recognized pop culture vocalists www.concerthotels.com/worlds-greatest-vocal-ranges. Gotta do the song Estranged by Guns n Roses.

Where is Chris Cornell on that list?

@@Sindraug25 Not sure, but I'd like to see. I do remember seeing a more comprehensive list like this, don't recall if he was on it

This is My Favorite Guns N' Roses Song. Seen them back in the Day along with +70,000 of My Friends in Concert. I can still remember Vibing with the Masses to this Song along with the Rest of a Great Set. Good Times.
