Axl Rose is the lead singer and happens to be from Lafayette, Indiana. I remember one of my best friends in high school picking up a GNR album while we were shopping at a record store, and telling me how great they were--because she was a metal head who knew all the rock bands, and GNR hadn't hit it big yet. Within just short time though, I heard this song on the radio and I was hooked. We had a lot of "hair bands" in the 80s, but GNR was the first group that felt like a "rock band" that happened to sport long hair. Yes, the band was DIFFERENT. Axl's voice, Slash's guitar playing, and a catalog of fantastic songs made for a true meteoric rise to fame back when you had to work hard for it, before the internet, youtube, etc. PLEASE REACT TO MORE! Cheers.

Guns N Roses were from Hollywood, Cali... they were 5 guys who always got into trouble. In 1987, this first album 'Appetite for destruction' would go on to sell 17 million copies in the US... Unfortunately, the band fell apart after the realease of the two 'Use your illusion' albums in 1991 & about 6 yrs as the world's biggest rock band, brought down by 1996 w/ infighting, drugs and egos... The original GNR here was the best: W. Axl Rose (lead vocals), Slash (lead guitar), Izzy Stradlin (rhythm guitar), Duff McKagan (bass) & Steven Adler (drums) In 2016, GNR (mainly singer Axl Rose) finally reunited w/ Slash & Duff McKagan to tour worldwide (Stradlin & Adler were not asked back ☹️) and used session musicians.
