Im a packaging snob too, but there are just some formulas at drugstore prices that cant beat high end ever! So well i actually paint over the packaging and sometimes even indulge in epoxy raisin encasement for the item to make it prettier and it also allows for good practice art work!!

Since the shade range is terrible, an alternative to the matte cream shadows by ulta for people of color is literally any concealer: just pick a finish you prefer. I have Rose Inc's and Pat McGrath's and use them as a bronzey blushy monochromatic eye+cheek moment

Back in my 20s I started becoming interested in high end makeup for one, because you were allowed to try it out before you purchased it. I remember buying my very expensive T leclerc pressed powder at a boutique and loving the fact that it was made of rice. Back then make-up brands sold at Dillards, Nordstrom, etc.. seemed of much better quality than drugstore makeup. In other words I do think it was worth the extra spending. Today? I absolutely don't see a huge difference in quality. I'm 41 and some of my current favorite products are from the drugstore. The Wet n Wild tinted hydrator is one of the nicest skin tints I have ever used. I have the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer and I reach for the wet n Wild a lot more. Another great one from wet n Wild is their photofocus translucent powder. Actually looks much nicer than the Charlotte Tilbury airbrush flawless powder. Often times I find myself really liking someone's makeup and it turns out they are using drugstore brands. The quality of drugstore makeup has definitely come a very long way.

The DD thing is true, but also, I go there for sugar-coated toxic waste with a side of caffeine, so it ends up working. For reference, I'm an energy drink person so I'm already drinking things far more evil than a chai latte at DD. The drugstore is something I'm trying to acquaint myself with because I know I don't have the money for high end basics- but like, it can be hard to get excited about! Especially now that everything's getting more expensive. The halo glow powder really is just chefs kiss tho! I can't use it in the summer bc I'm too oily for that, but now that it's cooled down and I can have dewy makeup without fear of makeup runoff I'm using it all the time.
@gwendolinehall1386

Lol at the sugar coated toxic waste w a side of caffeine. I was at DD the other day with my husband and there was an older gentleman behind the register, my husband asked his opinion on two drinks and he said he'd never put that garbage in his body... Lol. I took issue with a comment he made about matcha, he made a face and said it's ground up leaves. I didn't say anything but that's what tea is! And coffee is just ground up beans. Anyways, my husband is an energy drink person, and sometimes we need to stop for that variety of sugar coated toxic waste to pick from, DD serves a particularly sugary purpose.

As an otaku, let me help you: kawaii it's pronounced kah-wah-EE (so it's a long I) ;) Also, I've heard Amanda talk about those Ulta matte eyeshadows for so long... Unfortunately, there's no Ulta in Spain. In any case, I also don't buy drugstore make up anymore except for a few things, not only because of the beautiful packaging, but because I noticed that I have no self control and, because it's so cheap, I used to buy a lot and I don't have the space or the money to overspend and I also never use up the products. So I decided to buy fewer more "precious" things that provide a more enjoyable experience. Within reason, of course. I'd still never buy something like an 80€ Louboutin lipstick or a 140€ cushion foundation with 12g of product.
@koffertraum76
@koffertraum76 2 жыл бұрын
I think exactly the same. I prefer to buy fewer things, but a bit more luxurious, because I love the feel special while doing my makeup. I have only a few drugstore things, I tend to declutter them much easier and I am not as mindful when buying drugstore, so sometimes it’s just wasting money.

Noup sulphates can be in every formulation, thera are different types of ingredients in a formula, the ones that have a function as a product, as you said sulphates in celansers have an use as a product, and the ones that have a function in the formulation, sulphates are tensoactives that would help your formula to be stable and not separate the aqueous from the lipids or non polar components in their formulation.

I wear mostly high end beauty too, but in my everyday makeup routine I have several "drugstore" staples that are incredible, as in, I would use them even if they were priced at luxury price points. To begin, I use the Neutrogena Healthy Skin foundation (too bad you didn't get the opportunity to review that one) in shade 10 Classic Ivory. My skin shade is very close to your Kackie if not a touch lighter, and a cool olive. This foundation is the first I have ever found that actually has a bit of a green undertone! Also, if used with a beauty blender, applied lightly and with swiping motions as well as tapping, the finish is so smoothing!!! For powder, I use the No. 7 Lift & Illuminate in Light (I suspect this is as good if not better than the CT powder). I also used the essence Brighten Up! under the eyes (again so smoothing!), the Physician's Formula bronze booster (extremely finely milled, and true neutral undertone, not orange or red). Finally, for eyes, I use the Milani stay put eyeliner in "After Dark"-not as good as the Victoria Beckham eyeliner which is my fav, but I can't be bothered to sharpen a pencil everyday, and the Loreal Lash Paradise mascara, which is so good most people already know about it. Categories of makeup I will never buy from the drugstore are blush and eyeshadow. I am very picky about blush and my current obsession is the Surratt blushes.

As a person who LOVES chai, loose leaf, small tea shops, special blends, I agree on DD. I was in an area that only had dunkin and I tried the chai thinking “they probably use that stuff from Tazo at the grocery store” and I was surprised to find that it was not even that. It was like that shot at a bar called a “cement mixer” and I had to throw it out. I couldn’t drink it without feeling sick. I just couldn’t understand how it was made, how people like it, and why at the only coffee/tea place for miles, I stupidly thought I could get a chai. 😢

Kackie! I had something a little "fungal" on my face a few years ago and put my psoriasis lotion on it.... turned out terribly. It got better at first and then it blew up and took over my entire face. Turned out to be perioral dermatitis which can flare with the use of a steroid. May be something to look into. I'd do anything to spare someone the pain in the face and the rear. I ended up having to take an obscene amount of antibiotics to clear it up but had to wait almost a year and a half because I was breastfeeding.

I’ve gone to pat in my concealer with my fingers and I’ll have immediate raccoon eyes, or I’ll touch my white shirt and it’s got a inky smear. It doesn’t stop me from buying it, but it is So! I loved the video and do enjoy some drugstore content but one of the reasons I love your channel is that you don’t do too many drugstore videos. One because I just prefer prestige beauty and living in Australia I think we get about 5% of the drugstore products here. It’s even harder to get those shipped here than prestige beauty. Our biggest makeup store here other than Sephora is more on the high end side so I’m more likely to get those products. On a bright note phytosurgence is now shipping to Australia! I cannot wait to try the products.

I'm a luxury queen too, but that because I've been burned by drugstore before. Like literally burned; ironically it was the Fit Me concealer that was one of the first offender. At about the 3rd use it started burning when I applied it. By the end if the day anywhere I'd put it was red and irritated. Since then, other drugstore products have done the same. I was unable to isolate the ingredient that was causing it, but I'm assuming it was some sort of inexpensive filler or emulsifier, because no luxury product has ever burned me.

The Fit Me concealer was my HG for quite a while once I figured out it was a pretty close dupe for the Nars Creamy. The Maybelline actually looked better on my skin than the Nars. I use Fit Me on my face to cover redness & often am satisfied with how it looks & don't bother with foundation at all unless it is my Loreal Cushion foundation (which was discontinued & I cannot use the Lumi foundation because it has chemical spf 😪 ) If drugstore/affordable brands switched from PLASTIC packaging to cardboard I would probably buy more of it. But I remember the days of using rubber bands to hold my powder & eyeshadow compacts together because the plastic hinges broke. I refuse to go back to that & lipsticks that open in my purse/ eyeliners that lose their caps, etc. Packaging can definitely add to the experience of using makeup/skincare. Unfortunately Luxury/Designer brands are usually too heavily fragranced for me so I automatically avoid them.

Oh, no steroid cream on fungal acne, is a no-no. My derm suggested washing my face with Selsun Blue (selenium sulfide) dandruff shampoo.

10:15 to 10:25 is the funniest 10 seconds of my entire day. Just loudly cackling in my tiny apartment. I'm sure my neighbors are happy for me. Also, yes, Dunkin Donuts coffee drinky drinks are FROM SPACE indeed.

I have super sensitive skin so I am so limited with what I can use. And fragrance sucks. Makes my face, lips and tongue go numb. Also makes me feel weird. Just cant be near it. And my skin seems to hate liquid and cream products. Just cant wear them not even from so called clean brands. I do make my own homemade bb balm with mineral powder and oils and that works great for me. I was thrilled when I found that the Revlon lipsticks (the ones I got) didnt have any fragrance and I absolutely love them. Found my favorite lip shade of all time. I prefer to find cheaper stuff that is great rather than spend a fortune. I will use high end stuff if I think it is worth it (love me some Jane Iredale Amazing Base foundation; def a holy grail product for me) but if I find something I love at the drugstore without horrible ingredients and no fragrance and works great, I am all in. 🙂

Just wanted to come here to say that I LITERALLY laughed out loud on the Dunkin’ Donuts coffee from space 😂😂😂, but it’s so true! I one time asked for black coffee and they asked me what that was and they don’t have it 😶‍🌫️

That area next to your mouth may not be fungal. It could be perioral dermatitis, and it will temporarily go away with steroids, but can be caused by steroid withdrawal. It can also be caused by getting toothpaste on the skin around the mouth. If it does come back, try niacinamides. I found that worked best for me. 😊

I'm a guy and I always apply foundation with my fingers, whatever the intended coverage of the product. I might blend with a brush afterwards, but I'm basically a finger person. Edit: "your tactile digits" /second language English speaker.

I feel like it takes me too long to use anything other than my fingers. I really love the look of cushion foundations on my skin but I can’t stand not just slapping makeup on my face 🤣. I’d rather less hassle 😂

Just a heads up!🥰 Make sure that the skin issue around your mouth isn’t perioral dermatitis before continuing with your psoriasis steroid cream! Steroids will make it go away, but the moment you stop it will come back 10000000x WORSE and make it really difficult to get rid of 😭

I was just about to comment the same thing!!! I’ll also add that I found that products with zinc (specifically I’ve use La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5) and clotrimazole (anti fungal cream) have helped me, along with not putting anything else on my skin) just cleansing with water or Cerave hydrating cleanser and avoiding putting anything extra on the affected area.

Devil’s syrup is the perfect way to describe Dunkin Donuts. I went to Salem with my (former) boyfriend and he kept making us stop in every state (Maine, New Hampshire, and the Massachusetts 3 times) to get Dunkin Donuts coffee. Would not try a local coffee shop. Swore Dunkin was god. Im from Texas so this obviously was about 80 red flags for me but the Dunkin Donuts obsession was the rites read at the funeral of our relationship that happed soon after. (This was just the Cherry on top of his awful personality)
