I got excited when I saw you were looking at the flywheel - I have an Air Electronic whose flywheel looks very similar to the 'modern' version in this video - my problem with it is the opposite, its always engaged and I can't disengage it. I can wind bobbins but I can't stop the needle going up and down while I do.

I have had this happen to a few machines, it can happen to any with this type of clutching mechanism when they are not used in bobbin mode for a long time, I usually quickly take them apart and lubricate them. I have had on a Bernina 730 Record the plastic of the hand wheel shrink on the shaft and had to clean and slightly sand the inside of the shaft hole to make it loose enough to spin on the shaft for bobbin winding. Hi, thanks for such great videos. Very helpful. I have an Elna EL2000 with a push pull to engage and disengage drive. The needle goes up and down when I hand turn it, but only the bobbin winder works with the power and foot pedal. Does anyone have any suggestions? ………I should confess that I took the hand wheel off to see what was making it tight at the top of the cycle when the needle is up and when I put it back on I can’t get it to drive!! 😞

Hello , thanks for your great videos! I have an Elna Lotus Sp from my grandmother and I had it fixed some time ago (the gear). After that, it worked as usual. Now it suddenly doesn't do any stitches anymore. It's picking up the thread, everything seems fine, but there is no stich. After some moments, the upper thread tears off. I changed the needle and checked the inside as much as possible with your videos, but I can't see the problem. Do you have any idea why or did you make a video with a similar problem? Thank you very much!

Thank you for this. I have an older style Star Series Elna and it really is a wonderful machine. Quick question: Do you recommend that one loosen the knob when the machine is not in use or leave it tight?

I have a Elna plana automatic serial number 722010. My stitch length regulating lever got stuck in the A position. What can I do to fix that? I would appreciate any information you give me.

Hi! great video this is quickly becoming my new favorite channel. I do have a slightly random question if you care to give some info. I just inherited a lovely supermatic from my grandmother and it has been running great. on occasion the needle plate starts clicking off its connection points while sewing. I have a feeling it's because the dogs are too lose and they are hitting the bottom of the needle plate but I'm not certain. have you ever run into this problem before? when I put tension on my extra thread it seems to stop. any advice would be great! keep up the great work!

Hi and thanks. Take the plate off and make sure there's no lint build up between the rows of teeth of the feed dog. You can also loosen the two screws that hold the small white plate on (to the left of the needle plate) and move the it to the right to snug up closer to the needle plate. Therefore making the springs hold on tighter. Hope that helps.

Hi, I have the exact same machine. But mine keeps slowing down. I tried adjusting the wheels etc then it starts off great, them a few seconds later slows down to basically nothing. The wheels are spinning. Is this something I can fix or have you done a video on this already?
