It would be nice for you to create a video showing the Laticrete HydroBan boards with a deck mud pan using a linear drain. Given the pure metal flange on the linear drain I'm having a hard time visualizing the waterproofing between the sheet membrane over the deck mud and the metal flange of the drain since the drain is normally installed before the deck mud pan is built.

Why are wall tiles installed first? In the past, with traditional systems, I have always installed floor tiles before wall tiles.

How do I cut the pan to size and how does that affect the way it accepts the walls?

This pan is extremely easy to cut down to size and can be done with a simple hand saw. We would only recommend trimming of outside edges. Connection with the wall would be no different, however it may be necessary in some cases to build back additional height for slope purposes.

Hello! Thank you for your message! Unfortunately we do not have a video of it being used with a knee wall, but many of the instructions within this video would still be followed. You still use inside and outside corners and the sealing tape, similar to the way they did on the curb and other walls. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

If Liquid Hydroban is used for the walls instead of sheet membrane is the Hydroban sealing tape necessary at the floor to wall transition?

Hello! You must use the sheet membrane on the pan itself. However, since the sheet membrane is compatible with the liquid HYDRO BAN it may be possible to use the liquid HYDRO BAN on the walls and tie it to the shower pan by overlapping it 2-4" on the the sheet membrane. This does assume that the installation is not a steam room or steam shower. Hope this helps!

Hello! Thank you for watching! The HYDRO BAN Shower Kits were specifically made for use with the HYDRO BAN Sheet membrane and therefore you must use the sheet membrane on the pan itself. As the sheet membrane is compatible with the liquid HYDRO BAN it may be possible to use the liquid HYDRO BAN on the walls and tie it to the shower pan by overlapping it 2-4". This does assume that the installation is not a steam room or steam shower. For that type of installation please call Technical Service for suggestions. Hope this helps!

So there is no need to seal the center of the pan when you connect it together?

As long as you dry fit the pan and bonding flange drain to make certain they properly fit over the drainpipe, flush and level with the floor, and make sure they properly set the pan per the written installation instructions using LATICRETE® polymer-fortified mortar to the floor, the HYDRO BAN Sheet Membrane will be doing the waterproofing at the joint, and therefore no sealing is required at that seam.

The setup of the shower will dictate what corner pieces will be needed. In the video outside corners pieces were not used but if you have a shower with 2 curbs, a knee wall, or another application that calls for it, it is included.
