Truly amazing. I have watched your build since the beginning. Any one who wonders why it has taken years not months to build needs to go back to the beginning and watch the tremendous amount of work that has gone into this build. All this done in your spare time. And of course one can never forget the unending support of your father. Memories even for future generations to venerate. God's blessings to you and your family.

Just a thumbs up for your very responsible use of PPEs and a fall prevention system. Too many guys have been killed or paralyzed falling off of roofs because of pride or the need for speed. Good going! They may not say so but your family appreciates it.

Thanks for the compliment. I've been a roofer for 26 years now it definitely takes a certain breed of people to do it day in and day out. But as the old saying goes somebody has to do it. I have been watching your videos since the beginning of the cabin build and I would like to say your doing an amazing job The cabin looks great .You have definitely gone above and beyond to make it a comfortable home for you and your family. A fantastic way to start a Saturday is to see you and your Dad at work on this amazing cabin. When you first started laying the foam board, I was nervous about how you would get the top layer on. As always, you and your Dad are incredibly resourceful. Glad you both are safe and blessings to you, your Dad, your wife, and children. This is a work of love - you will love it for generations, and I love watching you accomplish it. A few people have mentioned a concern about ants getting into your foam insulation. I can suggest a borax paste mix. Mix water and borax to a toothpaste consistency. Roll the paste onto the foam board before putting down the metal. The borax will be eaten by the ants - taken back to their colony, given to the queen and ultimately wipes out the colony. This is the best way of keeping ants from going after the foam. Borax is safe to use around people and pets. Just an idea - God Bless!

I’d like to contradict the old saying that Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. Fall is hands down the best season/time of the year. Before all the “basic” stuff like pumpkin spice lattes, that feeling of coziness, changing leaves, harvest and Thanksgiving makes home and family feel even more special. Seeing a cabin in the middle of the woods during fall ices the cake for me. It takes me, and I’m sure a lot of people, to a place of mental solace and peace.

Yes, I'm removing my foam board from the walls, it was full of ant tunnels, I would guess about 7 nests in just one wall. It also trapped moisture in and rotted out the wood underneath. This was due to a roof leaking over many years.

Anyone try PIR commercial foam, fire resistant unlike blue stuff. Band building yearly with diatemaceous earth to keep the ants and insects away.

Brings back memories, bad ones!! I did a similar roof alone on a timber frame cabin I’m still finishing. 12/12. 34ft, wide 19ft eve to ridge. Galvanized. I put 2 layers of 2” rigid and 1” between straps. For close to a 20r. I had my ladder on a 45 degree anchored in my truck bed. Great work!!

Called nailbase insulation. Sure would rather have seen a 2 layer system and overlap joints. This eliminates vapor drive. Being a metal roof at least you wont get shingle rigeing from vapor drive. I worked for mfg of nailbase.

Everyone keeps telling me there isn't much R value in 2 inches of styrofoam. I just keep asking, would you rather live inside a cooler, or a plywood box, in the winter? LOL

Styrofoam has a pretty darn high R value! not as high as celotex but that said, it's got a great R number per dollar

You’d better hope there is never a fire, that shit gives off toxic fumes. It doesn’t meet code in many places.

@@the_original_skytiger Blah blah blah. Of COURSE I hope there is never a fire! Who 'hopes' there is a fire in ANY home? Every home out there, including yours, is loaded with things that are going to make a fire even more dangerous, with toxic fumes.

@@the_original_skytiger Ok, Karen, we are warned. What is your expectation? That we will tear out all our floors, walls and ceiling, and replace the insulation with something else? Really? Or are you just being an arse because you are on the internet, and you feel important when you do so?
