I really am impressed given the time Intel have had and where they are and if you watch how transperant they are with gamersnexus when asked questions, they are really establishing trust and attending feedback from customers IMHO. No small feat considering. EDIT: the intel team doing the interface need to talk with the software engineers having watched the whole video, capture card and uneer volting etc are issues that will effect purchasing

Considering where Intel started with the A770 and A750, getting them to the point where they are competing with an RX 6600 at the very worst is quite an achievement.
@HazewinDog
@HazewinDog 6 ай бұрын
Unfortunately the reality is quite different. in DX11 and newer it might compete with the RX 6600 at worst, but when you get to less popular DX9 games, they can be completely unplayable. And then if you go even older, e.g. DX6 or DX7, everything is broken. Menus are improperly rendered, polygons are stretched to hell and back and textures are obliterated. It's a real shame.

Ayyy! I recently finally caved in about bought an A770 LE. Unfortunately though, it completely craps itself in my main game (Crashday: Redline Edition, DX9). Additionally other older games I tested (DX6, DX7) are rendered completely broken, with polygons stretched to hell and back and textures utterly destroyed as well. In my other frequently played game, Assetto Corsa (DX11), it actually did almost as well as my 4060 Ti. The framerate was slightly lower and there were occasional stutters that I don't have with my 4060 Ti, but it was just about good enough. In the end though, if it can't play my main game, it's not something I can realistically use, so it's sitting pretty on a shelf now. I'll keep it as a reminder of Intel's brave but troubled entry into the dedicated gaming GPU industry.

It seems like the phrase "there is good and bad" is the key opening and ending statement for every Arc review, the good has grown a lot, the bad has shrunk, but is still there. I have had an Arc 770 LE 16GB since January 23, and have been very fortunate that the only game I have had true troubles with was Starfield at launch. The only game I play alot that is older is No Man's Sky, which uses Vulkan, and runs perfectly on the A770. I would be OK putting a lower end Arc, like an A380 or 580 in a lower end PC that I was selling as an office PC with some gaming capabilities, but would have to think twice before putting it in something I was selling if I weren't it to someone I wasn't sure was technically savvy enough to understand what they were getting. Besides, I can sell a PC with an Nvidia 1060 for the same amount as the same PC with an RX6600.

The a770 actually a great card for me. -I use a lot of adobe software for work. -most of the time when im away, i will remote dekstop and that av1 support is a huge boost. -that 12gb vram actually enable me to play with SD llm that require more than 8gb -and the game that i play is not heavy, except for hell diver (most of it is gacha game lol) The only downside is the power consumption, coming from the 6000 series it fell like a bit of downgrade in that particular aspect. But tbh, a fer extra dollar on my bill isnt a concern.

my a770 runs pretty decent. the only complaint is that it does not work well without some registry changes in solidworks, which kind of sucks and i hope they sort out on consumer cards to at least some degree. i know they have their workstation cards but the consumer cards could at least be usable.

I just put together a system with a 12900k and an ARC a750. It does very well for the light gaming I do (mostly Fortnite and Guild Wars 2), However it is very good in Davinci Resolve, Handbrake, and Topaz Video AI compared to my RX 6600 and RTX 3060. The a750 was faster than the mentioned cards in my informal tests in all of those applications. Not by much, mind you, but it was faster....

Btw Bryan, are you able to steam to KZbin with an Arc GPU and Intel's own software? I haven't been able to with my A770, and I also cannot find a single discussion about it online. Also for me their software refused to install or launch initially, it took a community thread from more than a year ago to tell me to unpack the GPU drivers and I believe do some command line stuff to get it to install. Then for the Arc-specific program with the recording software, that I was able to install but it wouldn't open up. Nothing I tried worked. But after some days or weeks I was suddenly able to launch it. All-in-all the software side seems terrible still, and from my recent experience it is still (and I guess always will be) best to assume that any DX9 or earlier game doesn't run properly, until proven otherwise.

Capture card issues seem like a real problem if you are a content creator. How is that acceptable? It is a good thing to see a third player in the discrete GPU market. But I don't know how well Arc has been doing overall. Their most popular Intel GPU's are still the embedded ones found primarily in laptops and netbooks. 'm more interested in the productivity value of the Arc series, as the prices do appear reasonable (outside of the above mentioned RX6XXX series mentioned) , and the drivers have been making some strides forward. I primarily use Linux and Opensource software, and i hear the Arc drivers in Linux are also doing quite well, too. I like to stick with open source to avoid dealing with software licenses. I suppose. I have been hobbying in digital animation for a few years, not taking it professionally. Vector animation eats up a ton of system resources, and it only scales up with higher resolutions. especially in the rendering. Arc GPU's seem like they would excel in that area.

These drivers will continue to be improved and developed, even if Arc dies as a discrete graphics card competitor, because this architecture is what is going into future iGPU, APU, SoC, etc from Intel. They needed these cards out in the wild for some real world beta testing, and driver development is a years long huge undertaking to bring things up to a legitimacy comparable to Radeon and Geforce. if Intel could in the next generation or two get something like the A770 baked directly into their consumer CPUs and LP SFF budget upgrade cards, they could have something people would seriously consider over giant power hungry expensive monstrosities that even "budget" and "midrange" GPUs have become.

The way that I see it is that performance is secondary right now in the drivers. If your driver only lets your card deliver 80% of its theoretical performance then you drop prices 20%. If your driver doesn’t allow your card to function properly then people won’t buy your card at all. Intel has come a long way on both performance, bugs, and stability. At the rate that Intel is improving, celestial GPUs may have stable and bug-free drivers that can be recommended to normal people. Having a real 3rd competitor is excellent news because AMD and Nvidia have given into the greed in their pricing.
@ghosttheoremproductions5469

It's not just about the driver updates getting the cards where they are now. Buying a GPU means buying into the company's ongoing driver support for years and years. Given that, while on no timeline but their own, they released such a broken set of products which still have many issues I just can't see value. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they either abandon fixes for their 1st gen GPUs or abandon consumer GPUs all together. Why take that risk, while also getting a buggy product, for just a few initial dollars saved?
I have NEVER seen the USED PC Market like this before...
