Honestly if intel just launched a 10nm with a huge amount of threads and clocked it down, with low level APIs actually coming out pretty regularly, it would be viable for new games AND professional applications. Good morning and thank you very much for this informative video! Maybe I am not the right target since I am primarily interested in gaming performance but nevertheless, I have a question concerning the memory: Did you already acquire some experience with the Gear 1/Gear 2 modes? In most of the reviews with "normal" boards one can read that the maximum clock speed you can run in Gear 1 is around 3600 or 3733 MHz. If you apply higher clock speeds it would automatically switch to the Gear 2 mode because the memory controller cannot handle that (the reviewers say). I am asking because I really want to have the latencies as low as possible. And for gaming issues, I wonder if it would be rather "reasonable" to buy let's say 3600 MHz RAM with CL14 timings for Gear 1 or to buy 4800 MHz RAM with CL18 timing for Gear 2. I've just bought the EVGA Z490 Dark K|NGP|N edition since there was a huge discount in my country on this board. If possible, I want to Step-Up to the Z590 Dark if it joins the Step-Up-program within the next 3 months. So, in the end I will end up with one of the 2 boards anyway. I come from a Z270-platform (Core i7 7700k), so I am not experienced with the last 3 generations and the new one. Maybe you can help me out.

Expected to see insane single core IPC boost and more cache on i9 model.. Extremely dissapointed, not sure why they even released it. Next AMD lineup will be 20-30% faster than current one.. Intel has nothing to offer, lowering prices constantly won't work for another few years, so they need to work extremely hard right now to return the crown. Im on 10700k myself and not going to upgrade unless magic bioses start to come out and fix the performance which won't happen i guess.

It seems to me, the rocketlake is kinda like a proof of concept of the backporting of nodes as well as the IMC performance for DDR5 and the PCIE gen4 controller.... a product lineup being used to validate their R&D effort which will then be applied to the alderlake and meteorlake. And since it's rock stable even before the launch, id say it is a great success. Compared to AMD suffering from gremlins in their AGESA at launch and even till this day. Because it's backported from 10nm, the die is actually 2.4 times larger in 14nm thus heavily affected the 8core variants negatively. However the 6cores especially the 11400F is doing superbly well... these will rake in tonnes of profits for intel in the mainstream/corporate office market where AMD's only product the, 3600/4650G in that segment lost in both price and performance, and also availability lol. But well, honestly with a 10700K, there is no reason to upgrade. It is already a very capable CPU... unless you're itching to try on messing with a new architecture. The overclocking toolset in the bios for the 11th gen is pretty fun.
