Here in Florida a friend and I went by boat to an island to walk and explore. As we strolled along the water's edge, we came upon a beached fish. Seeing it was still alive, I placed it back into the water. After a few moments, we watched it swim away (we thought). Within 30 seconds, this fish came back and swam around between our ankles. I have done some dumb things during rescue attempts but my favorite is how I got my best girl Puppers. I was 6 months pregnant out for a walk when I saw a guy kicking his mini poodle in his front yard so my rotund butt hopped his fence , put her in my bag and ran ran as fast as my cankles would take me back to my car to rush her to the vet. He got arrested and after her back legs healed and we got her broken teeth fixed I had the best birth partner ever. I went into early labor that from start to baby out was about 15 minutes at home with only her and even though her back legs were still in casts she jumped off the bed with her blanket to come help and guarded me and baby till help arrived. She just spooned my 5 minute old newborn while I delivered the afterbirth. Best dog ever. She even held on 3 extra days when my mom died last month to be there for me. She was never anything but kind calm and loving and why that man hurt her still makes me hope he gets hit by a bus.

I hope he gets hit by a bus too. How can people be so cruel 2 something so tiny and defensless. I adopted my cat when she was 5 years old. Her former owner told me she was mean. @FHBStudio2 жыл бұрын
Please, don't let the hate consume you. Instead, let it inspire you to do greatness. For example, inform people about the dangers of trash and garbage, go out and be on the lookout for animals in need of help, volunteer at a shelter, all that good stuff. Of course, there are the terrible few out there who are intentionally cruel to animals, or who simply have no regard for them. We see animals trusting humans enough to let them help and to me, this is an indication that there are unimaginably many more kind people than cruel ones.
@FHBStudio2 жыл бұрын
@Alfie Chivers Who's talking about donating to charity or ruining the planet? Not me, so I don't know who you're addressing with those point. My point was that if everyone actually works to improve their surroundings/the planet, things will get better. Donating to charity is one of the worse things people can do: they exist only because the problem exists and they claim they can solve it. If they were to solve the problem, they'd stop existing. So of course they won't solve it then.

I'm in the run up to adopting a new pet (cat) for the first time in like 30 years, hence doing lots of animal YT surfing. And it's occurred to me, the people who work in animal rescue truly have one of the more emotionally unenviable jobs in the world. Because if you're in such a career, you obviously love animals, and you certainly aren't doing it for a big paycheck. And especially if a given rescue attempt takes several hours, you ARE going to form a bond with that animal, even if it's only one sided (the bond, not the animal... heehe) And yet, if it's a wild animal you're rescuing, it very likely will run back to its home as soon as you've got it clear, and if it's a domesticated pet, hopefully it will make it back to its human home. Either way, you almost certainly will never see it again.
@iconc14022 жыл бұрын
i guess it depends if you are doing it for yourself or the sheer joy of being part of freedom and life. some people do what makes them feel good, some what is best for the animal. I find that emotionally rewarding.

Anothing thing about working in animal rescue is you have to handle seeing animals in such poor shape with horrible stories..and some don't make it. My roommate and I in college both had labs, mine being a highly trained for hunting. She saw in a frozen pond what looked like dummy, but was a floating air pump to keep the middle open in the winter for waterfowl. She wouldn't let go because she's trained not to, so she would have frozen to death or drowned. I was in class, so he jumped in freezing cold water risking his life to save her. She lived a full life because of him, and I will never forget what he did.

I was bawling like a baby already by 2:04. To anyone and everyone that is willing to take a moment out of your life to save not only animals that are pets but any animal...thank you! Thank you for having a heart of gold and being their hero. Most times they are our hero simply by coming into our lives and showing us love that some of us don't feel otherwise. Or by being our eyes, ears, notification when they smell sugars being out of whack, a seizure coming on....so many things. They deserve way more love and praise then they get! So thank you!

3:37 as a side note: In most cases when an animal is seizing you should NOT touch or restrain them unless they are near something that could hurt them. The best thing you can do is be quiet and make sure there is no light shining in the animals eyes as it can sometimes make the seizing worse. Trying to restrain the animal can accidentally cause injury and touching it is adding extra stimulation that can cause more harm than help. Watching your beloved pet have a seizure is so so difficult, but the safest thing do in most cases is keep it safe from accidentally hitting anything while the seizure happens and then be there for the recovery.
