Pffft...there were plenty of better looking games at the time, open-world and not open-world (HL2, Postal², Soldier of Fortune II, DOOM 3, Far Cry), so let's not exaggerate. The textures (plenty of photos plastered over 3D models for most of the buildings) and cringeworthy animations (things like characters moving their jaws like they were popping Molly and elder ladies opening car doors like savages), and GTA sucked graphics-wise prior to GTA IV, but it was forgivable because no other game during that time attempted to recreate basically Sims, but with the option to slaughter people

@@beartrap8625 I'm kinda tired about this nostalgia-filled statement that early GTAs looked realistic. They didn't. I've started playing these games in the era when having a Pentium IV was a "king of the schoolyard" thing and when 100gb was plenty of hard drive space, so, I'm no skibidi toilet Fortnite-raised kid when doing these claims. Even 6-8 year-old me found early GTAs graphics weird, but I've didn't really care, the games had other stuff to offer, and San Andreas was massive for the time

Id love to see GTA SA completely recreated in GTA5. If they could get the missions sorted and texture everything to be basically indistinguishable from GTA5's graphics they could use all the original audio and it would be amazing!

INTER go have a look at my Carl Johnson voice mod. Full audio replacement for Franklin also uses the same model by legendario9991 to be used to replace Franklin, I have been updating some clothes and making it more compatible with Franklin's stuff. My voice mod replaces every single mission voice line in gta 5 with freemode lines as well. Took me 3 years to do, some audio I voiced myself for missions or cutscenes and then there's a trick to that. But the rest is audio from san andreas used for freemode. Its on gta 5mods I will be updating the updated clothes when I get around to finishing them

Considering it's a modder they've done a better job than what rockstar did with the definite edition. Looks sick seeing San Andreas in gta 5 graphics. Gta 5 with rdr2 graphics would be boss aswell. GTA 6 has a big step to beat rdr2 graphics.

I didn't even grow up playing San Andreas, but I'm playing it now (on OG Xbox, and I haven't finished it yet so pls no spoilers), and I so fucking badly just want Rockstar to remake San Andreas in the GTA V engine. Nothing against the original game as I am thoroughly enjoying it but - God dammit it just feels too right. Even if certain events or locations have to be tweaked to fit in with modern Los Santos - I do not care. It just feels like an overly stupid idea for them to NOT do it at some point. They remade Los Santos and even fucking included Grove Street in it. The game is practically BEGGING to be remade!
