Dear Laurie - your travel tips have been a wonderful help to me! I watch as many as possible and always learn something new. Here are some in return from me. We have gone twice a year to Lake Como and LOVE it, except in the summer (we only went once then and it was hot and crowded with European families). Spring and fall (shoulder seasons) are our favorites. In many areas the Italians are elegantly dressed. My favorite travel pants are Talbots everyday stretch straight leg. A bit heavier than many, but can be dressed up or down and the soft knit holds its shape even on a long flight.. Only 3 colors, but a wide size range. On Cloud 5 are my best walking shoes, as you have pointed out they have waterproof ones in a few colors. (Ecco doesn’t fit me as well.). I use the little gemice no leak containers based on your recommendation and love them! Never a leak and I packed 10 days worth in them. Since we go often I bought a curling iron and heating pad with Euro plugs - not so costly when you compare converters, adapters, etc. The hotel concierge helped us locate the heating pad, and the curling iron was at a hardware store in the window! Be sure to take the Ferries that go around the lake - it’s fun, and each little town has a bit different character. The ferries are cheap enough that working people take them daily to and from their workplaces. Happy Travels!

I have been in several bathrooms in Europe over the years with no toilet paper (once in Florence where street people had stolen all the rolls and were selling it back outside the entrance), so I always carry a small pack of tissues for these possibilities. And have had to use them! Of course often in the US, too, but this video is international-related.

I love the jacket. It would be so handy to not have to keep up with it when I am not wearing it. For toilet paper, I just take one pocket pack of tissues in my bag. If I’ve depleted those on the trip, I’ll just use what’s in my hotel room and put a day's worth of toilet paper in a baggie.

Swiss here! While we’re not part of the European Union, we’re definitely part of the continent of Europe, especially as we’re surrounded by other countries and don’t have access to the coast😁 08:20 While we use a 3 pin socket. the 2-pin you showed at 07:20 will work here. Remember that the United Kingdom and Ireland have a completely different socket so remember to bring the correct adapter there too. If you’re visiting there plus mainland Europe, you can get adapters with multiple different types of plug.

Your suggestions of the backpack strap Bernardo jacket, Ecco water resistant shoes, and Nordstrom merino wool and cashmere sweaters were spot on for my trip to London and Paris. I just returned and thought about you every day of my trip! Thank you so much!

Laundry detergent sheets. I’ve used them in Europe as well as in Hawaii where I was washing things out daily. They work great and don’t have to worry about liquid restrictions.

Laurie,could you do a test on the phone straps for preventing your phone from being snatched out of your hands while taking pictures. This happened to us this summer in London ( we still have our phone) just a few bruises and scratches but we won 🙌🏻 I saw a lot of people using them.

Laurie, thanks for another great tips video! I just wish I’d known about those water-resistant pants before my trip to Portugal last year & Paris last week! Now I know October in Western Europe = RAIN (even those huge red Viking umbrellas weren’t enough 😂). Next year, I’ll have those trousers! And I love that Mophie triple charger from the Apple Store! I’ve had mine for 3 yrs. & it hasn’t let me down. Have a wonderful week!

Great ideas!!! I live not far from Lake Garda. A magnificent area. Some of my favorite places around the lake to go are Sirmione, Malcesine, Lazise. You can also take a boat from those places to go to the other side of the lake. Have fun!!

I have those pants in tall in 3 colors, they are the BEST travel and hiking pants! Most comfortable pants I've ever owned and dry super fast. I just ordered the black backpack-strap jacket. It is on save for $99.00 and you can get a 15% discount off that right now.

My husband and I take my older sister with us everywhere. (We are all retired) We share a room where possible and find that there is never enough room for all the little travel bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body soap in the shower area. So this trip I am taking a mesh shower bag that hangs from the shower curtain hooks. I have suction cup hooks for hanging it on the shower wall. Hoping this takes care of the shower chaos as there are 9 pockets in it. Amazon has just about everything you could possibly want, don't they?

My two tips. Don’t wear cinchable pants through security. Mine kept flagging a pat-down at the ankle. I removed the grommet and pull-tab, and no more problem. 2. Bring more than one type of usb cords for rental cars. I only use usb for my phone, but my foreign rental car in the US only had usb-c ports.
@TravelTipsbyLaurie3 сағат бұрын
I agree with the usb cord; if you forget it, at least you have the portable charger.

Hi Laurie, I always thought that I could only take 3 or 4 liquid containers in my little liquids bag. I see that you have several small containers in that liquids bag. Thank you for teaching me that. Also, I use only sensitive toothpaste, wonder if the toothpaste tablets come in sensitive. My teeth hurt like crazy if not using sensitive toothpaste...I usually have it on my carry on because I fear my luggage can get lost and I won't have my essential toothpaste.

I still take a dedicated camera on trips, because it's so much easier to pull the memory card and transfer my photos than it is to remember the process to do a dump from my phone to my computer. also, I think my camera battery goes something like 4 days between charges.

Those little containers that you use for decanting do leak. I have used them twice, and twice they leaked. Even after I was so careful not to get shampoo or conditioner on the seal area, no luck. Any suggestions?

For our recent trip to London, we took two adapters - didn't need to use either one, as the hotel room was equipped (to charge two iPhones, two iPads, 2 sets of ear buds. I would suggest something I think you mentioned a while back - and I thought was a great idea, but neglected to do, - was to take some command strip hooks. Our bathroom had only one hook, and no towel rail, so these would have been ideal. We opted for the green service (which meant we didn't get room cleaning/linen service every day) and the towels remained wet without anywhere to hang them.
@TravelTipsbyLaurie3 сағат бұрын
Thanks; we have needed them the 3 Europe trips this year and last Christmas. The only drawback of the hooks is sometimes they can take the paint off.
