A lot of times when I go into a coin shop, the dealers there always put themselves on a pedestal because they know more than the average consumer. I really like that Coin Guy is humble and generous with the information he gives in a way where you feel like hes teaching you and passing down knowledge that has taken much time to learn. I really enjoyed watching this video as I am a coin collector and metal detectorist. Thank you for this awesome video, I hope to see more in the near future.

Except he does make mistakes from time to time (we all do). For example, Gold is NOT a better conductor of electricity than silver. Conductivity: silver > copper > gold. Gold is used as a conductor because it is so resistant to corrosion.

I'm an old man (63) who recently retired, and I'm so glad I discovered your channel! I've always admired coins, but never formally collected them. However, I do have good sized jar full of wheat copper and steel pennies and various pure(?) silver coins that I took out of circulation over the years. I've often thought of dropping off everything I have at a coin dealer in an effort to determine the value, but that would be a very lazy approach. Any suggestions you may have would be greatly appreciated. THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL YOU DO!!

He didn’t say that. Think bigger picture beyond simply immediate use. Over time gold will outlast silver. I think the same way you do but it’s why gold is utilized more for such applications where tarnishing or corrosion would cause issue with a device.

I had no idea what love tokens were before i watched this, let alone that I had one in my collection already. Went from junk bag to a coin flip just now. This reminds me of the gold dollar found in the HL Hunley that had been given to the captain by his lover and was engraved "my life preserver" after it took the brunt of a musket ball at shiloh.

Silver and copper are both better conductors than gold. One advantage gold has over silver is that silver tarnishes while gold doesn't. Tarnish can affect the conductivity, that's why you'll see gold plated cable ends.
