Here is a man, living his final days, he is frail, his breathing is labored, he is weak and he is dying. But his mind is clear and his thoughts are articulated and forthright. This man is one of our country's true hero's, a true patriot who sacrificed much and was willing to give everything for our country. We do not produce men like this anymore. He served in WW2, he served in the Korean war and he served in Vietnam. He was shot down and escaped only to be shot and recaptured weeks later in the jungle. The young men and women of this country need to know his amazing story.

@@jaredevildog6343 I did meet him. We went to the same church in Sioux City Iowa. He was a modest man, and a true Hero.

I had the pleasure to meet this hero at the Air Force Academy graduation of class 2011. My son was in the class with Day's grandson.

@JeffreyCollier:I can´t agree more. What he has survived in Vietnam and how he accomplished to come home with honor, is in my opinion the hardest fight you can ever confront as a soldier.I was born in 1975 and can only shiver in awe for this man.I don ´t know anybody of my generation who could even fathom the strength and integrity this man had.I´m not a religious man-I´m a convinced Atheist- but I wish he could be immortal, because he truly deserved it to be arround in good health forever.

Thank this Champion ! Sometimes I feel as if I know a little history and today I know Bud Day and if Bud Day says something good about Dick Nixon I know it’s the truth.

It's really cool to see so many videos about my Great-Uncle! He has a rather good, if a bit dark book recollecting this experiences during the war called _"Return with Honor"_ For those interested. Thanks for sharing the video.

My parents knew your uncle and respected him so much. They were also natives of Sioux City, and I was too. They owned a 3-story Victorian home in the Morningside area in Sioux City, and your uncle Bud and Doris rented one of the apartments on 2nd or 3rd floor. After he was released he came to Wichita to speak to a group of doctors. My parents had relocated to Wichita and invited them to dinner and I saw him then. I’ve read his book and have told about my connection to him whenever I have the chance. I’m proud to have known him! I have his book “Return with Honor”. I also have another book written by someone else about your uncle.
