Love him and I love that he takes schooling so seriously, good role model for others :) And I highly doubt the teacher got fired just for giving him a D, if the teacher did get fired then it was either for different reasons or there was way more to the story. And he wasn't angry about it, he understood why he got it, it couldn't be helped.

you obviously havent seen the difficulties of the third world, gives a whole new meaning to "hard work". working 16 hours a day, standing, 7 days a week, trying to provide for a large family. Struggling to feed your family, no access to health care or human rights, possibly being oppressed by your own government, having numerous family members die of diseases... but yea Im pretty sure they would agree that James Franco works way harder than they do...

If "you went to school with him" like I did then you'd realize it's bullshit. He never went to class, he had someone hired to finish his work and do his art. I saw him once and it was on the street. He showed up for the first day of class and that was it. The teacher passed him because he was ordered to. Franco wasn't even there at graduation.

Having the policy that students learn best and more by listening to certain classes and lectures forced on them is really not the way to create new original and creative thinking individuals who can think for themselves and go beyond the academic skills of whoever they have already read themselves. Its basically the universities telling you how to think and how to look at the academic field you're in. Thats really not the way to make new knowledge or make new academical students able to create new and to reach beyond what have already been laid out for them.
@ossedurins13 жыл бұрын
I agree with you happyseed37. I think James is one of the very few young actors who has successfully juggled a career in acting with studying for his degree. He got a D for acting of all things, but just look at 127 hours and his awesome acting. If I were his professor, I would have taken that into account. Hope James continues his excellent acting and one day grab the Oscar that he deserves. Thanks for a great video.

This is odd to me .. Ive been a university student for 8 years and despite the fact that our college educations and university programmes take 5 or 6 years and not the 4 years I know a lot of American exchange students Ive met have, it is so odd how you are obliged to participate in courses by being present. Esp considering how universities were invented as a offer for people studying certain academic disciplines and who would want to hear lectures from the best people in whatever they studied. Nowadays, you're registered for the classes and courses and obliged to attend and sit there and listen without being academically competent to chose which knowledge and people you'd want to listen to in addition to your own reading.

I think the professor must have gotten fired because of the publicity the grade brought to the school. I'm sure they didn't want to be affiliated with that sort of publicity, especially in the filmmaking department. It's like okay he gave him a D, whatever consequences come from that in the media -- it must have brought some discomfort to the board there.

Totally agree the accusation is bullshit and a really sad pathetic ploy to dishonor someone (james) who doesnt deserve that in order for that professor to save face. It actully takes a lot to fire a professional like that and I'm sure it has nothing to do with James Franco. I'm definately a fan of his, it's so hard to find inspiring intelligent people these days who have worthwhile things to say.
@OMagicks11 жыл бұрын
he is merely trying to motivate people to not be lazy and not have excuses while you are here badgering a man who has probably accomplished tenfold of what you have. Obviously you are trying to be seek attention, and no one said James was the hardest working individual in the work.

Not totally true. JF enrolled in 4 grad. programs; only One of those was at an ivy league. He went 2 NYU 2 direct film at tisch, columbia 4 witing fiction, brooklyn college for writing fiction, and Warren Wilson College for poetry-- As of 2010, I believe, he enrolled in Yale [2nd Ivy league] to get a Ph.D in English [props for that one...] --and I never heard anything about his GPA, let alone a 4.3-- there is a video here on youtube watch?v=W3NfZ5xHoOc where James says grades don't matter 2 him

If you're working hard to achieve your goals under difficult circumstances then you too just may be one of the hardest working persons in the world. Why don't you try juggling movies, interviews, constant press and other personal problems i'm sure he has since he's human and still do good at school!
