Teddy, I’m a long time follower and lifelong Omega collector, so I wanted to like this piece. Unfortunately, though, it was both boring (too much PR verbiage) and disappointing (objectivity is your stock in trade; this compromises it). There are legitimate questions about Omega’s strategy and direction that went unasked in this interview.
@michelemilanese24875 жыл бұрын
@@RogerMillerInVA Have you ever talked to a CEO? Of course the last watch is the one he will choose and of course he's the first ambassador of the company inside the company itself. It's unreasonable to ask for strategy and direction to a CEO for a KZbin interview: those are basically the information that's requested to make the company work and management does whatever they can to avoid giving this information all around. I was pretty surprised to hear him talk about a stainless steel 321 Speedmaster before the release, actually, as it means cutting the sales of the current model right away. I guess the release is not that far in time...

10:11 - I have to agree. Most Omega stores have been extremely friendly and willing to let really anyone try on a watch. Sure I was dressed somewhat formally (Dress shirt and had my AE shoes on) but I've seen them be friendly to even casually dressed people that openly admitted they can't afford a watch today. Omega seems to be the type to think "Today you can't, but tomorrow you can."............Meanwhile at Rolex I've seen them snob people that are more than able to afford a Rolex.

Great video, Teddy and a wonderful achievement having the possibilty to interview this gentleman. My favorite Omega-Bond is indeed the 25418000. Since 1995 I was pressing my nose at Wempe here in Hamburg everytime I passed their shopping windows until I bought in 2001. Since then, this watch accompanied me to more Bond movies in the cinema, I proposed in 2001 to my now-wife, went to different countries with it and was with me, when our little girl was born. Having said that, I am saving my money now for the automatic version.

Nice to see a luxury watch manufacturer that doesn’t have contempt for their customers.
@tn_onyoutube84365 жыл бұрын
Which other luxury watch manufacturer has contempt for their customers? The one maintaining production of all of their watches, keeping remarkable stability in product line and stable sku count, that is so successful it can’t quite keep up with the ridiculous worldwide demand for its product, whose watches pretty much universally maintain their value such that even their base models change hands for the same price they cost 20 years ago? Or did you mean the one that has dozens of special editions, dozens of colours for each new watch, hundreds of changes constantly making it confusing as to which watch to buy, loses at least a 1/3rd of its value the minute you walk out of the door unless you got a discount from the dealer? Surely it must be the latter, right?

Speedmasters are killers ! They are awesome pieces. Omega is a business different than Rolex ! The size of collectors of speedmasters is huge ! The brand dilution is non existent for a true collector . Rolex is idiotic foundation. Do I own rolexes ? Yes, explorer 2, sky dweller and Daytona. Omega is the pinnacle of Mass production watchmaking. Get your bearings straight, let omega do the special editions speedmasters. Do I own tudors, yes too ! Pelagos Lhd and black 41 mm eta black bay. I truly appreciate the swatch group making a big push on the omega brand. Rolex is most of the time distasteful! This does not mean that I don’t appreciate good designs.

@@dgarrido3381 Again, I did not critisize the product, you know nothing about me or what I collect as I have made no mention of it. but you sure have gone on & on about Rolex. Everyone in the industry knows of the issues with Omega. There are many Omega's I like & I would never insult anybody that is passionate about the brand, to each his own.

scott satren Couldn’t agree more, the constant releases of limit editions comes across as nothing more than an money grab. Dismissive of the true heritage of the watch IMO

I love Omega watches . I just don't like this one . Kind of ugly . The other bond watches were so much better.

The new Omega Seamaster is simply stunning. Titanium brushed finish, half the weight of the steel polished one. The patina design. The watch is a future classic. As soon as I tired it on I had to buy it. I now wear it more than my other watches including my Rolex ones.

That Dude comes off like ur cliche interchangeable CEO aka the talking head. He could talk about any brand with his repetitive boring phrases. Wouldn't be surprised he wears a ROLEX when not representing OMEGA just like Daniel Craig. Ps. Teddy was cool though....

Gel Mibson : Quite generic statements. I’d appreciate a ‚sharper profile‘ from a CEO.

Niel Wong : Dude, what do you know about me? And finally, I’m a customer...so part of the target group he’s talking to. I expect Omega to have a clear overarching customer profile if they talk about their brand DNA. This can be further differentiated by the watch lines they have. Still, there needs to be a common set of properties.
