That's how you know someone can really sing. She just belted out the song like it was nothing. No lip-synching or studio equipment, just raw talent and a beautiful voice.

Phyllis the real diva.so natural and pure.just jump up right into it
@dcchitown68929 жыл бұрын
DC from the chi: Phyllis was probably one of the top Sangers not singer's of all time, just pure skills and a natural gift in which she knew she had and was able to articulate it in a way that no one has been able to match since. After watching the KZbin interviews I fell in love with the lady and I'm not that kind of a man to follow people like that but man after listening to her speak she was everyday people always kept 100 before the term 100 was invented. A true sista in every since of the word, I put her in the Billie Holiday,Nina Simone, Patti Labelle,category and so on but truly one of the greatest of all time who died of a broken heart. I miss you baby cause you know how to love me!

Pure magic. Phyllls is still missed and it is a crime that Lonnie hasn't recorded in decades.Unfortunately, genuine musical talent is not always a prerequisite for a contract these days.

It's no way you can give that much of yourself and sing about that much pain and not internalize a part of that pain . My prayer is that Pepper found the peace in death that alluded her in life. Thanks for posting.

When ever I see a list of the best singers and Phyllis is not on that list, it just becomes a popularity list, not a talent list. She was not joking about the shoes. Once she kicks them off, hold on to your heart. One of the best live singers I ever saw. Lonnie is in a very small class of individuals who created music that didn't exist before. Saw him back in the earky 80's with Roy Ayers and Tom Browne. The three of them took fazz fusion to another level. Like Lonnie, Roy's music was thought provoking and you could also get your grove on. Tom's, "Funkin For Jamaica", was and is one of the most recognized songs by Funk, Jazz and RnB fans. There are so many musical layers to that song, it's almost a shame to label it by any one genre. The 70's had some Great music changing Artist in it, that covered the spectrum of all music. RIP Phyllis.
