Sam Reid said in one of the interviews that in the church scene Lestat wanted to show Louis his absolute worst side (hence, all of the violence) and if Louis still said "Yes" after seeing Lestat's at his worst, that meant he was his true companion.

Jacob Anderson in the Church scene was amazing. Also yes Anne Rice vampire's cry blood. Since these versions of her vampires can have sex that puts into question other things 👀 Louis & Lestat the ultimate toxic couple and its nice/funny to see you call out all the ways Lestat is being manipulative/toxic in the first episode.

You also asked why Lestat punched that priest through the head. When I watched it, I thought that, as Lestat declared that he could truly see Louis, he wanted Louis to truly see him, both good and bad, both loving and monstrous. An informed decision. You said you watched the movie. You might recall Lestat saying to Louis before the turn: “I’m going to give you the choice I never had.”

Lestat didn't have anything to do with Paul's death, the author confirmed this. Paul was mentally ill and killed himself. The same thing happened in the book, although he fell down the stairs and not the roof. Lestat killed Lily out of spite because Louis ignored him and if there is one thing that pisses Lestat off it's being ignored. Lestat definitely lost his temper at the church because religion triggers him and Louis going to a priest instead of him was just the final straw, but he also went complete psycho because he wanted Louis to see him at his worst and truly accept him before offering the Dark Gift, and it worked because Louis was already so deeply enamored with him at that point that he was able to look past everything and just see Lestat. If you read the books it becomes very apparent that Lestat isn't evil, and he is actually the main character and anti-hero of the book series following the first book, but he is a very traumatized individual; both his human life and his vampire birth were traumatic, a lot of shit went down in Europe, especially in Paris, and he is carrying that trauma with him and passing some of it along to the people around him instead of really dealing with it... which affects every relationship he has. He's a complicated guy with a ton of red flags but all he wants deep down is to be loved. Of course, he is unable to see that he is the problem. That is the most tragic thing about him as a character, because he could have the love he craves if he would stop getting in his own way. By the way, Sam Reid captures the essence of Lestat like he was born for the role. His performance just gets better as the show goes on. And Jacob Anderson is amazing as Louis as well. I like Bailey Bass as Claudia too. We got lucky with this cast.

They fight, they yell, sometimes windows are smashed in someone's face, furniture destroyed or houses burnt down but never ever does Lestat lay a violent hand on Louis or Claudia. He even says himself at one point that he would never hurt them so the writers of the show came up with that beat down all on their own and it did a lot of damage to his character in people's minds.

But Louis didn't plan on going back to his house. So Lestat basically busted into the church and forced him into the relationship (under duress.) ~I think Lestat had something to do with Paul's death too. / 🎬*Sam Reid and *Jacob Anderson both did a great job with those roles.🙂🎭✨👍🏼

Why he punched the priest? Lestat was telling the truth about his father and the church. Lestat has a MAD hate for the church, so when he sees the man he loves going to that place for solace rather than him... he's taking that anger out on them.

Great reaction. I love this show so much and I am a fan of the books. In the show, they take into account Lestat background and personality that are described throughout the 13 books so it is very consistent. Sam himself is a big fan of Anne Rice work and you can feel his respect and love for the character. All the aspects of this show are great: dialogue, acting, music, costume, drama… can’t wait for season 2. ❤🥰

➡️ ; Ms. Lily was a lady Louis would go see all the time, Lestat went to see her because he knew Louis was coming there, and he had her at his house to get Louis inside, (I think he was using mind tricks on Louis from Day one!) But Louis didn't want to go back there, and Lestat went crazy and basically forced him into the relationship! (He used vampire telepathy, mind control, fear, love-bombing, manipulation, murder, etc.) To get Louis.

Just remember that the Lestat in the first movie is told by a bitter Loius who is NOT a reliable narrator. The Lestat in this show is the Lestat from the other books. He's not manipulating Loius. He's literally wooing him. (You said evil. Aside from doing vampire things, what evil has he done. And no, he didn't kill Paul) He's literally fallen in love with him. It will become a toxic relationship, but that's actually from both ends. (Unreliable narrator, remember. And the show will demonstrate that, which I love.)
@NerdGuyProductions
@NerdGuyProductions Жыл бұрын
I’m very curious to see how the unreliable narrator trope plays out. Because in the first episode his unwillingness to let Louis grieve for his brother and instead using that moment to force Louis to talk and be with him instead of anybody else was extremely toxic, manipulative behavior to me. As well as killing somebody so cruelly on their date night after Louis expresses his dislike for Lestat’s cruelty.

@@NerdGuyProductions Remember that Lestat can hear Louis' thoughts. He knew Louis wanted him but was repressing his sexuality. He also knew Louis was close to suicide or a breakdown so he offered him a way out. He didn't force him into anything. He wasn't using his powers at that point as some people seem to think. He loves Louis. That's the bottom line. Not the most healthy love but the only way he knows how. And yes, he can be cruel but Louis can be just as bad

Haven’t read the iwtv books, but a lot of vampire horror stuff (like Vampire: The Masquerade) posits that after the embrace into vampirism you lose all other fluids besides blood as your organs kind of shrivel up and become useless since you can’t eat or drink anymore, which is why they cry and sometimes sweat blood I think

Lestat was absolutely not responsible for Louis brothers death. his brother killed himself because he was clearly not right in the head and had issues for years way before Lestat. I am sorry it comes of like this to people who watch the show. I don't know why but many think this not only you. Even creators confirmed this is not true. In the books Paul actually dies by accidental fall after huge fight with Louis and Luis carries great guilt over it. Lestat did kill Lilly as he admitted but not Paul. :) Anyway there are a lot of changes from the books it has to be said but the show is still absolutely amazing, episode 1 was stunning and writing and acting is brilliant!

Not a chance, between how much he already loved Louis and his trauma over his own turning that would be awful for everyone involved. The whole point was to offer Louis an actual, clear choice that wouldn't result in him getting hurt for saying no if he didn't want it. I DO think he'd have tried to figure out something out about the suicidal ideation because, you know, hahaha not again, and probably kept trying to discuss it with Louis provided his refusal wasn't too weirded out, but he'd just be annoying about it, not murderous.

Once you know the story, then you'll know just how badly they f_cked up this show all while slapping Mrs. Rice across the face in the process, as well as all is fans whose been awaiting ANY show from her books for years now and we're supposed to begin the tv series with book two: The Vampire Lestat. Instead, we got THIS dumpster fire and I thought nothing could've been worse than the film version of both TVL and Queen of the Damned.

@@NerdGuyProductions - Well, NG, I'm glad you will read the book, personally, I now love listening while I read, but I digress. I hate being the bearer of bad news but once this show is over, or well for this book, then you come to know the REAL characters in her VCU, then you'll understand why us diehard fans are livid with the direction they took this show. The original characters and their motivations in the book are totally ignored in the show and since each new book continues the last? Well .. I can't see how they'll recover from this. I have wept over all this so far, mainly because Lestat is my favorite literary character (tied in first place with The Count) and after at least the first three books in the series, he could be your favorite too, this show has turned him into something he is NOT and I won't spoil that much for you. See, in the VCs, Louis narrates this first book (as in the '94 film) and ends up not being entirely honest about his life with Lestat and Claudia, that Lestat ends up correcting in book two: The Vampire Lestat. Also, in the first five VC books, after Interview, Lestat narrates books two through five: TVL (absolute favorite of the VCs) Queen of the Damned (FANGTASTIC and tells the vampire origin story), Tale of the Body Thief (one of my favorites) and Memnoch the Devil (also a favorite). Her wiki page also has all the books in publication order and you can search for the next should you choose to move forward. But really, once you start, you may not be able to put them aside. 😀👍 Serious though, as an avid fan of her work, this show was IS a BIG disappointment for me. Although ,I will say that casting Sam Reid as Lestat was a dream choice for me, but he could only work with what he was given. ....Sigh... If you ever wish to talk about the series OR need any kind of character clarification, I'm here for ya. I'm also on Twitter if you wish to link up there as well.
