Wow the chemistry between the two leads is great. Jacob put on an emotional performance. Claudia looking for good so much that she was trying to reach out to a grey vampire who clearly had no humanity in it. Great episode. I'm so glad this show is back

I totally agree, I loved watching them travel Europe looking for fellow vampires. That last scene with them where Louis tells Claudia if she was the last vampire on earth, she'd be enough... it was so touching, so emotional. Just drive all the Emmy's up to Jacob Anderson's house and be done with it cause his performance in this episode is 10 out of 10. Are you looking forward to the Vampire theatre as much as I am?? - Jess

I thought it was super classy they had that graphic were it announced the new actress playing Claudia. It was like what they would do at a live theater.

I've seen the film (a million years ago it seems now) and I liked it a lot, but always felt like Tom Cruise was a miscast for me, and after seeing Sam Reid play Lestat it solidified how I felt about Tom in that role. I loved the casting and writing of the show, it's incredible. 100% agree, this doesn't feel like a copy and paste of the movie at all, it is it's own thing, which I love as well and really appreciate about the show. I read interview with the vampire forever ago, but not the rest of the series yet. - Jess

Jacob is a treasure, he makes this show for me. He gives Louis this deeply heartbreaking human side that is SO relatable to so many people out there. Every episode I find myself just wanting to hug Louis lol. - Jess

Thank you for recommending this series. I loved Season One. I read the books many years ago and didn’t recall the details. I didn’t like the movie. So it was a surprise it was so good. Love Anne Rice’s books. This first episode was pretty dark. I’m glad that Lestat still shows up in Louis’ mind. I think Paris will be exciting.

Hmm I feel she did it because she’s an older vampire from the old world. Now the vampires own the night Where she says “we own nothing” I’m still trying to figure it out myself 😂

@@loiscobb687I honestly found it trope-y. I thought it would be cool to have this new Old World (ha) character travel for at least a little bit with Claudia and Louis. But then I was like “someone is probably going to set her on fire or something”…then she did. It’s just predictable and meh. I found it hard to understand that the vampires can only eat happy people? I felt the battlefield would be the perfect place to gnash on soldiers, etc, because they wouldn’t leave much trail. But because of the pain of war, it makes the blood tastes bad and sad? Better go to Paris and suck the neck of a lively can-can girl. :)

@@Ricmiester510 this argument sounds good and similar to my thinking she didn't fit in. As a Senior Citizen, I get that trying to make these new technologies e.g A.I, genetic modifications, cloning, etc fit into my thoughts, ethics. The only difference is I'm not throwing myself into a fire 😂. This is the first day of Fall Semester and my diverse groups of college students and I are going to figure this out along with Matt and Jess their subscribers. I'll ask my students to decide which sociological concepts are being utilized by the characters, historical moments etc. I think they'll enjoy it. 😊

We will be ready for that Armand story now lol. As we mentioned in the video Matt hasn't read the books and we didn't know what's going to happen with Armand. We are spoiler free for a lot of this which has been really nice for us. - Jess

Lestat is the main character of the books after interview, Armand is definitely scheming he’s kind of a villain for the first few books because he’s super obsessed with Lestat, Armand is always like the second choice for him. He picked Nicki over him, then he left and picked Louis over him, Armand wants Louis so bad because he wants to keep him from Lestat. Armand’s song “After All This Time” from Lestat the musical (written by Elton John btw) really explains it all so well.

I enjoyed the first two books in the series and absolutely loved the first season on AMC. Seriously, I was disappointed in this first episode since I found their European wanderings way too long and boring but have new hope since they are back on New Orleans. The highlight for me was Lestat’s “appearances.”

matt was in the same boat as you, he felt it was very long and drawn out in their wanderings. For me I felt it set up their loneliness and how broken their relationship is really well for when they actually end up meeting other vampires in Paris. I don't mind a slow ride sometimes if it's building up an atmosphere well. - Jess

@@MattandJessTVMaven of the Eventide did a comparison of the Old World Vampiress and a charcter in The Vampire Lestat, I do believe. I guess the showrunners are placing bits and pieces here and there from the books. Not 100% the same, different names, etc.

I loved the book too much to be interested in another adaptation, but at least it sounds less flawed than the Tom Cruise movie. Hope the show will introduce a few people to Rice’s book. 👍

Season two is going to be amazing than season one, if not, way better (wasn't a fan of seasone one). Just by watching the first episode, I am glued. And I love the new Claudia better too, I feel Delainey is more suited and alive than Bailey was when she portrayed Claudia, again my opinion. I love that we get to see them in Romania, like they were in the book. I love it so far! I can't wait for Armand (my gorgeous baby), Santiage, Madeleine, and theatre of the vampires. This season will sunk it's teeth hard! But I am still iffy about Lestat, I didnt like how the show portrayed my prince of darkness, my rockstar, I felt he was so unlikeable. Yes, he wasn't nice in the book too, in IWTV but he was STILL loveable and you want more of him (thats why Anne wrote him as the main protagonist). But in the tv show, I just despise him. Maybe that's what the producers want us to feel, but anyway.

I really liked season 1 but I feel like season 2 has really started off stronger, like they've found their footing. I liked Bailey a lot and I think Delainey has slipped seamlessly into the role. She's wonderful! We are both very excited for the theatre of vampires!!!! I don't know a lot about it, but I expect it to be grim lol I like Tom Cruise and I like his movies a lot, but for me I felt like he was a miscast in Interview with the vampire the film. I know that I'm on an island on that, and most people loved him in that role, but I'm enjoying Sam Reid a lot more. Maybe Sam and Jacob just have a better chemistry for me? I duno. I try my best not to compare the movie and the show cause they have very different feels to them like you said. :) - Jess
