This was SUCH a great video! It does a fantastic job at articulating the thoughts and ideas that can completely overtake our entire day! I have struggled with this deeply for a very long time myself~ I have been working at a decently/very busy restaurant for 10 years now.. I always have thought of EVERY single day of my time there as a training in mental control in social situations.. still 10 years later; With the smallest social obligation (say, a guest comes in and I am very busy; but I known them for years and years) it makes me feel such a crushing pressure about how I need to deal with that situation AND juggle my trained expertise at my job~ It varies from situation to situation and as with social dynamics nothing is completely sent in stone as to how someone is going to react with any given sentence that you say. It has been a constant mind game I have been playing, trying to figure out this type of person or anticipate what this person is going to need. It can be soo daunting dealing with 300 people in a place seated all around you, just feeeeeeling their needs oozing from every expression they twitch. Feels as if when someones eyes make contact with mine; that they pierce me and I can see how they are receiving my physical and verbal interactions.. even while I am at one table I can easily see or hear other tables that may notice me or are making an issue of anything, with eyes constantly shifting and me thinking of the best solutions to help all the guests in the best way possible~ With all that said (had to just stop myself from describing any further in detail :P ), I have understood how foolish I have looked probably a couple thousand times before.. As much as I know that atleast half of those were just made up in my head and were never thoughts that anyone else ever even had~ I am going back to school with a more matured perspective on life now; cutting back on the social stresses when not "in training". (work.) I have forced myself to learn a lot from that time spent though. About how others think and how social connections work in much WIDER ranges than i think i ever really could and at more rapid a rate than most other occupations could allow.. If given the proper time to converse and talk to the guests who literally put money in my pockets; You can certainly learn A LOT about different people while they are enjoying a good meal and smiling service. Its like getting a seat at thousands and thousands of families birthdays, and graduations~ family visiting~ baby just born so first adult beverage in over 9 months! If you are there in just the right moments and display expertise and proper (universally acceptable) social practices~ If you come to work uniform perfect and knowledge of what and how you are doing. Then you can see how people are when they are just relaxed, hungry ready to talk and chat about anything and everything. Confidence in the things you do. Craft it. Hone it. Know it. Own it. Be it. Remember it. To succeed I think everyone should understand their limits and flaws then begin to reprocess the steps that made you think that was ever even a limit or something that could ever be deemed a flaw. We are not perfect.. AND WE NEVER WILL BE, but for ourselves and everyone else around us; we all should try to be..

@@ErikThor Of course you are Very welcome Erik! I have been just recently absorbed by all of your content over the last few days~ And it has been such a great trip soo far! I can see how much this means to you and how much you have opened your mind to possible venues! I can honestly say, that from all of the people I have listened to (probably in my lifetime even, and I do A LOT of research) that you have the most naturalistic fundamental understanding of how I have been trying to convey my thoughts on the subject matter ever since I was a child. It has been a long road with MANY hardships but I am glad I could stumble upon your channel :) Another mind I can see, just gets it~ not making videos about just THEIR lives or how THEY see others; more like please~ this is how I really really feel that other people feel! Look through their eyes! I wish that more people could see it as clearly as this; then we could really start to shape the future of humanity to be something we can all dream about! Baby steps though right ;) we have to learn how to walk one foot at a time, I feel like we have only began a brisk jog as a society/race and we are starting to get a bit winded... we have not trained for technology or its impact~ if you only have this much "X" amount of time in the day and there you have work/school/family~ If as children we learn we can just get the nearest screen and ignore everything around us and the problems to escape into that.. then we are limiting our minds to the other possibilities out there! I am a gamer 4 life; but now only as an adult can I realize fully, what I mentally draw from when I play and when I have had enough to harbor healthy thoughts. All along also I would then spend hours upon hours of following interests and ideas. Thinking about wrong or right; he said she said~ But for types that don't spend that time for their minds, they may be just bandaging the deep thoughts and feelings. It is too easy to just do that now.. not talk about our issues until they are rage and anger. I am not asking anything of you really~ Keep posting videos and I will continue watching and commenting; maybe down the line I could think of something. Watch the comments ;) Well wishes, Jay

It wasn't until 4 years ago that I got the courage up to try learning the customer service desk as well. So I do both, and I have such low self esteem as an INTP that I just don't know what to do. I have a certificate in graphic design that I'm not confident in. I've been in therapy for along time now because of child abuse and have been diagnosed with PTSD, OCD, GAD, and DPD. But I keep grinding myself into a rut which is exhausting and depressing.

Check out art therapy. It might be good with your design interest. But schedule your art therapy time, honor your calendar, let yourself enjoy it...I would also ask you to get into group therapy look into NAMI for your state they have free/low cost local groups. I have seen in other video comments people feeling better equipped for life using yoga and/or meditation. Maybe doing video recordings to talk things out is more helpful (you can do that here on YT, just keep video set to private). You have a lot on your plate. Remind yourself of the positive happening right now and recall how those positive things started --- courage as well as optimism. Wishing you all you need to move forward.

Being an INTP not in an ideal job for my brain and wondering why other people get to do the cool things, I think I've realized that it comes more down to what I think of myself than what I am doing. If you have confidence in yourself where you're at, you can go places - but you don't NEED to, because you have self-respect and confidence regardless of where you are and can totally own what you're doing. Do your job as your true artist self working at a store, not as whatever you think of store employees. I'm just as interesting or intelligent as any scientist, and you I'm sure are just as artistic as any artist. So why don't we get to be those people? Just start being that person, job or no job. Let that be who you are. I wonder if INTPs are more vulnerable to trauma affecting their view of themselves, or more vulnerable to their view of themselves affecting their level of ability to function. I've had such minor rejection and disappointment in my life compared to actual trauma, and it's completely derailed my whole life.

So what you are saying is that -in order for me to "get things done" and "make progress on projects" - I need to focus on ignoring distractions and over analyzing and "just do it" in a sense of the words of just do it - like start and keep going without allowing distractions to pull me off. - So Maybe it would be wise for me to set a timer for say "20 minutes" or "40 minutes" and not stop for anything less than an emergency and in this way I can get things done. - Because at the moment I am trying to study programming but I keep going on tangents researching about who I am as I find it important to make a good decision as to what I should study. I want to become a software developer but I always change interests in life, so this research has helped me feel like I can progress without losing interest because technology has always interested me and building stuff and programming always has new stuff. - Any thoughts on how to focus better as an INTP? This is the first time I've ever heard anyone describe the situation I'm in, where I'm stuck in work mode, and I can't get out of it. If I do get out of it, I start neglecting my duties. The other problem is the lack of mental stimulation - my brain used to come up for air every few months, and then realize there still isn't any, and go hide again. Now I feel more permanently altered, not just being in a different "mode". I'm disinterested in most things at this point, and my brain doesn't have an outlet for problem solving. When I have time I could be thinking, I'm just watching tv. When I am thinking about things, it's more vague and while it does involve learning, there's something unsatisfying about it - I think it's about topics that can't be thoroughly known and doesn't involve concrete problem solving, since there's no real need to apply my mind to. I'm stuck in this Te nightmare, as far as daily responsibilities go... but at least with my brain on permanent vacation, I have no anxiety...

I wish schools had individualized teaching. I don't to be in the same algebra class as a kid that has to put 5*1 in his calculator. I did bad in math because of a lack of motivation and ability to remember the equations by the time of the tests. Now Ive realized its easier to just force myself to do all the work and try to finish work that our teacher hasn't gone over yet. This allows me to have more fun with the work and I actually see improvement doing this. The problem is, a lot of times our work doesn't have enough information to be able to go on without outside input that I have to wait for from the teacher. Another thing is when she gives us assignments like little worksheets that are easy but we have to wait for the rest of the class to finish to get the next problem or paper I find that I get done literally 10 times faster than most the kids in my class and im not able to just do the work and keep myself from getting bored.

The only thing I'd like to add is that I believe INTP's should focus on growing their Extroverted Intuition function first. My boyfriend tests as an INTJ but the vast majority of the description of them does not describe him. I think he is an INTP, how can I confirm that when he tests as INTJ?

Thank you!

I found out that my husband's best friend is also INTP. So he married a female version of his best friend. And it seems we, INTPs, take more from relation with him, than he takes. I don't know what to think.

I'm an INTP, but i don't care about people's opinions. Where does the idea that we care come from?
@khalidalmarzouqi17167 жыл бұрын
Chrystax Thompson as an INTP you did not break the role he said on the video but u already started the arguing in your mind.
@MatiMonteiro6 жыл бұрын
From the evolutionary concept which states emotions stand as unconscious algorithms to keep you alive. Overly conscientious thinking creates a feeling of constant anxiety. Many complex internal procedures are processed unconsciously, so, repressing such a complex feeling as caring just creates different negative emotions

So we INTP's are practically useless
@themultigamer56826 жыл бұрын
Well not really. Most of the world's greatest scientists were intp's, Or infp's. you being useless is your own choice. Your personality type doesn't dictate your life. It's just a guideline. Intp's could be the most useful. Just depends what your doing. Would Einstein been useful on a deserted island fighting for survival? No, but without him we wouldn't have made transistors for computers when we did. That's pretty useful, so again if you think you're useless that's your choice.

im intp I disagree with what u said round 3mins in ...u say were worried about other people's opinion 24\7 and that's not true at all IMO idk why u say that,not saying idc at all but u said we may do something that attention seeking and worried about everyones opinion and that's not trur

If you payed attention to what he was saying you would have heard that he said that particular set of archetypes was related to your grounding function or in our process tree as the inferior personality function. Essentially, it is a fallback personality function when other processes within our mind are not applicable to a situation. Subconsciously or consciously there is a desire to be accepted by others in the INTP personality type. While it may not be the dominant desire, it still exists. Recognizing this will lead you to a large amount of personal growth. It will help you refine your inner emotions and desires to a point where you can control them as you will know where they are coming from.
