I hope you enjoy the longer, very much detailed introduction video. Added chapter markers will help you navigate around. If anything is unclear, please leave a comment below! Gaffer is great, and it needs to shared! And depending on how this series goes, I will be creating more dedicated Gaffer videos. So make sure to get those thumbs up
So happy to see a Gaffer video! I've been seriously interested in this software, especially with how accessible it is compared to similar DCCs.

As a Houdini user I don't really know why I would need this, but thanks for the video. Great work as always, I'll try to watch a bit to get the general idea.

Super thankful for this video! Gaffer is a pretty software, although super intimidating in what it means: completely change your pipeline and way of working until now.

Thank you for a great video! I think a little more clarity on why use Gaffer over Houdini Solaris, for example? Is it mainly the speed of lookdev? Is there any round-trip potential from Solaris to/from Gaffer or is it one-way only? Thanks again.

For one, Gaffer is free and open-source. It's more comparable to Katana than it is to Solaris. There is not a round trip potential, as it's pretty much read only (like katana). Solaris is a USD editor as well. It's also extremely customizable, the API and docs are pretty straight forward. Perfect for small teams and small studios.

Does this work with renders like Octane and Renderman ?

I knew about Gaffer a long time ago, although I never used it cause I chose not too that and I didn't know where to begin to learn.

Amazing content as always Arvid! But the sped up talking kinda throws me off a bit.
