Anna is so entertaining and seems like she really enjoys life. I like the way she has so much fun with the process rather than getting frustrated. I tend to put unrealistic expectations on myself, which allows me to get better, but sometimes at the expense of having fun during the process. I’m too goal oriented in general at most things I do, which can lead to “success” in life, but also frustration and irritation. Wish I could be more forgiving of myself at times.

amazing content and great to see Anna back on the court! I got back into tennis 3* years ago and my partner, who had never played before, picked it up with me - Having Anna on this channel was amazing for us because it contextualized advice and feedback that is relevant to beginners vs 99% of the content out there are for intermediate to advanced players (even the ones that say they're for beginners). Four years later, we're hitting 2~3 times a week together - I'm competing at 4.0 level and while my partner doesn't play matches, she can rally with me just fine. We definitely owe both our progressions to you Nick and also Anna! Thanks for the great content and I hope you continue to get lots of views!

Hey it's good to have Anna back on the channel ! At the beginning, one thing I noticed on Anna's forehand is that sometime she has the "zombie arm" on her offhand while hitting forehands. I would try to have her pointing at the contact point and tuck-in that side's elbow during the swing motion. Besides that, Good lesson with the backhand, we can see that in the span of a lesson she has made a nice improvement. Well done !

Yes the use of the non racket arm to position herself properly from the ball and to allow the shoulder turn was an issue with her years ago and was never corrected by her coach.

Nick. I loved the 3 step approach to better timing on the 2 handed backhand. So many others online teach early preparation on groundstrokes. Your feeling is if preparation is to early there is no flow to the the stroke. Looking forward to using this timing approach with my students. If you remember, I took some lessons with you in Boynton. Playing less, but still teaching kids and adult beginners. This video and others of yours gives me great information to use with my clients here in northern Virginia. Looking forward to the forehand timing video. Is it much different? Thinking not. Steve

Amazing lesson! Good to see Anna back in action, and you two just make a perfect team. Watched a bit of the Errani Rus match today, after not having seen Errani for few years. Could you do an a video where you point out the main things Errani does wrong on her serve? It probably would be too much to list all of the issues there, but listing the main ones could help recreational players to realize their own mistakes and try to avoid them. I guess she has some issues with her shoulder that limit her serve, it's strange because the rest of her game was top level, and at almost 40 years she is still competitive, even with the serve-handicap. My impression is that there is a problem already with the ball toss, I guess that could have something to do with the dominant eye. I'll try to explain what I mean by that, I'm ambidextrous and my dominant eye is the right eye (I guess that is the same situation as Errani), so when I serve with the left hand I'm in a similar situation as Nadal (right eye dominant, serving with the left hand). That means placing the toss is relatively easy in case of a lefty serve, because even if the head is in a "natural" position, the toss arm is more in line with the right eye (which in my case is the dominant eye for the vision, the left eye mainly gives the brain the 3D info for the depth in space of the object, but it's the right eye that focuses the ball). But when I serve with the right hand I have to turn my head slightly, like as if to bring the visor of the cap more in line with the toss arm so that the right eye can follow the ball on its trajectory which is more on the left side of the body. Additionally before tossing for a right-hand serve I feel it helps to bend/tilt the neck to the toss-arm shoulder forward into the court, that helps to follow the ball as it goes up for the toss, but on my left-hand serve I don't need to that bit. So I don't se Errani doing that (I've noticed several pros doing that "head-tilt", just can think of one in particular that is doing it a very evident way, but I guess you know what I mean, maybe Roddick is one that does this in more evident way, Shelton too), and I guess that is one reason why she loses her toss frequently. The other thing that I think is an issue with the Errani toss is that she tosses the ball up while her torso is basically perpendicular to the court. I think it is much easier to toss/place the ball if the tossing motion starts as the upper body is leaning slightly back, so that the chest and toso is pointing slightly up to the sky (say instead of having a 90 degree angle to the court, the back would be around a 75 degrees angle to the court), I've noticed that Sinner has made a change in this sense from the beginning of last year to then of 2023, and it is even more evident when comparing 2022 and 2024, before Sinner was more "hunched" forward before starting the toss, now he gets upright be fore starting the toss and then slightly leans back as the toss arm goes up. When doing that "slightly leaning back" thing, the toss arm motion changes, it basically becomes more "natural", if one would still stand straight then the ball would go up more in a forward-up motion, instead of in a straight-up motion, that kind of forces the head to lean back to follow the trajectory, whereas if the back is leaning slightly back, the head is already looking up to where the ball will go, and because the back is "leaning slightly back" the ball is now going straight up and not forward-up (as would happen if that same arm motion would be executed with the body perpendicular to the court). A bit of a wider starting stance at the start of the toss can help to achieve this "slightly leaning back" position during the toss in a more natural way without having to force it (perhaps Cilic could be an example for this "trick"). Well so that's what I've noticed on the Errani toss, there are some obvious things that don't seem right on her serve motion, like the arm and racket position in the trophy pose (my guess is that is due to shoulder problems), but also it looks like there is very little help from the body/hip and that the serve is mostly arm, well perhaps you could go into some details about that stuff, and maybe even give me a feed back out the things I've mentioned around the toss. I would really appreciate your opinion on that, so it would be 1, head-position in relation to which eye is the dominant one of a person (the one on the toss-arm side as is the case for Federer and Nadal, or the one on the racket-arm side) 2, tilting the head to the tossing arm shoulder, in case ones dominat eye is the eyey on the racket-arm side 3, tossing while leaning slightly back. Thanks and looking forward to more videos of you and Anna!
