This wasn't a movie starring Chuck Norris. This was a documentary about a week in the life of Chuck Norris.

I've always loved this movie and even have it on DVD (yeah, I know, I know). It's a solid upper B movie and it makes great use of its budget. The scope is big without overdoing it, the action pieces are awesome, and the title absolutely delivers: There is a literal invasion scene. The mall truck chase and shots to the balls scenes alone make this a can't miss.

Norris was a 70's star. He started out with Bruce Lee, and made action flicks throughout the 70's. But it wasn't until the 80's that action films started getting big budgets, so he wasn't a "big star" like De Niro or Pacino, who worked in dramas, but he was well known. So let's not pretend that his career started in the 80's, because it very much didn't.

What the hell are you talking about? Chunk Norris classics action movies came out in the 80s so that makes him 80s star not 70s star 😂 and nobody even said he was bigger than pacino and De Niro you sound silly. The problem was that Norris did movies with Cannon, a B-company. He had the chance to do A-movies after the success of "Code of Silence" but instead of that he did cheap but entertaining movies for Cannon. His most successful movie only did 22 million dollars (Missing in Action).

Never underestimate the power of Chuck Norris. Especially if he can end communism in Romania. Also Code of Silence is probably my favorite from his filmography (after Lone Wolf McQuade) I think it's a very underrated flick that barely ever gets talks about.

Nobody talks about a movie called "Code of Silence"? That's basically as far from irony as you can get.

Norris unapologetically followed the big hits of Stallone, Schwarzenegger, and other 80s actions stars and films with lower-budget copies of his own. Stallone does Rambo? Norris does Braddock. Red Dawn is a big hit? Norris does Invasion USA.
@LarryFleetwood86755 ай бұрын
Don't forget, Charles Bronson was still making movies throughout the '80s for both MGM and Columbia and not least Cannon, in my opinion it's a missed opportunity not to pair Cannon's two biggest action stars the two Chucks in a buddy flick. I bet, it surely must've been suggested at some point but maybe got rejected by one of them. Talk about a cult classic that could've been, alas this sort of pairing of action stars was rarely ever done could be the flop of City Heat (1984) with the oddly paired Clint and Burt gave Cannon cold feet. I suppose, Delta Force (1986) and Firewalker (1986) came the closest for Norris.

It's a good movie, but the novelization is better. The novel is more gory, though. However, the novel explains a lot of things that were missing from the movie Invasion USA. I think you can still find the novel online.

Chuck Norris had a shot at becoming more than just a b-lister. But no big studio wanted anything to do with him once they got to know him. Nowadays we can all find out what sort of person he is, but back in the day, all he had to do was keep his opinions to himself and he would've had it made. Not that I mind, we have enough awful celebrities as it is, he can stay in obscurity.
@jliller5 ай бұрын
Norris is a self-professed devout Christian who had a child after cheating on his first wife not five years into their marriage. Then by his own admission (in his autobiography) he had to be shamed into marrying his second wife by one of her kids (from her first marriage).

I agree. Not very gory, but in terms of people getting killed it's Chuck Norris' most violent film. Code of Silence, on the other hand, is a great film. It's low budget in terms of acting and the way it was filmed, it sort of looks like an A-list film.
