Inverted Subwoofer vs regular??? Why? Is Inverted Better?

Yep. My 2 boxes are 1.75 cu each, but the recommended space for my subs is 1.90. Inverting evens out displacement. Reduced heat also a plus.

If they are smelling, stinking and hot, is because your voltage is dropping too much,and probaly clipping signal. not really how they are mounted

Distortion burns voice coils, simple as that. They will cool better inverted but if you smell voice coils burning it’s because distortion is present and the subs are clipping.

@@cn001252 The subs are broken in, I've had them for about a year. As for the gains, I know the owner of a local audio shop and we used a DD1 to properly set the gains.

I inverted my skar zvxs and it looks awesome but i lost alot of dbs.. maybe because the boxes were already big enough?

I’ve got 2 evl 15s and the box I have is too small but to invert them the surround rubs the inside edges of the hole the sun sits down in. I was wondering what I could do to fix it. I can’t bore the hole out any because it’s already on the edges of the box. Thank you in advance

When you invert the subs do you have to reverse the polarity?

You do not need to reverse the polarity as long as the same are facing the same way. If there was a situation where one was inverted and the other was not then you need to reverse the polarity on one of the subs because they would be working against each other if you did not.

3 reasons ur subs smell 1 Not clean power/distorted(i personally did it a few times) 2 too much power and they cant handle it or very big box (same stuff ur just bottoming them out) And 3 new subs smell all the time
