Apart from tinting icons and moving icons; what’s really gonna change how we use our phone. I wish we had new features that will help how I use my phone like better multi tasking apps

Customisable control center comes to mind. But not much after that. The one thing I’m surprisingly excited for (after trying it on the dev betas) is notification filtering by AI, but that doesn’t come to all devices. The feature feels like an automatic method of android’s chats/default/silenced/minimised notification management system, and kinda makes the morning and evening notification summaries redundant.

If you really think about it, Android hasn’t changed their OS that much. Ever since Android 10, Android has only had slight changes. So I think that iOS still looks new, and we have hit a peak in smartphones where there is nothing we can really innovate anymore. Maybe holograms? IDK.

How is the "screen idle time" in battery settings calculated or determined? How come it’s 4+ hours of idle screen time in this example?

That's typically when you're using music or something with the screen off. Apple really needs to fix their battery calculations

Do you have music download turned on? Check that setting cause maybe it's downloading it on the device when you add music to the library automatically :)

When I was on beta 4 or 5 my 15 pro got really hot a lot and battery dropped 3% capacity in a couple weeks, after updating to the latest beta, battery is excellent. Gets me through the day. No heat and health is at 92% capacity

Hi Aaron, my iPhone went black the other day while I was just checking the time. It wasn’t dropped, didn’t get wet, overheated, or anything like that-it was just a regular night. The repair guy told me the screen was burnt out, and I believe him because the iPhone still made sounds and vibrated, but nothing showed up on the screen. I even tried restoring it, but nothing worked, so I ended up having the screen replaced. Do you think this could’ve been caused by the beta? iPhone 13 normal.

I am an Apple ultra user and still find the reminders app on the watch is very slow and just about unusable. Been like that for years and was hoping the new software would resolve. Not sure if same experience for you - I have a lot of reminders and use them daily but I don’t think that should be the issue.

I'm surprised You didn't mention my answer on your FB page, where I posted a screenshot of my iPhone 14PM, with 12 Hours of actual continuous onscreen use to drop battery charge from 100% to 20%. It's like an almost impossible battery life, that I never had before. I don't remember or believe if it had that high onscreen time out of the box. 😅 I'm on the latest iOS18 developer beta, and my battery health is 85%.

Latest 18 Developer beta has seemingly permanently lost dark icons for me - after toggling light mode on (because amazon can't frame a barcode in white to make it scannable in dark mode). now I have dark mode (control centre, and apps etc are dark) with light icons rebooting doesn't fix it either :(

I have the 15 Pro current with the Beta program. Not exactly which one I am at since General does not tell you. However I find the screens you show are different from those I see. Also the Geekbench 6 results are dramatically different from yours. Maybe because mine is only 128 GB? I am in Canada so perhaps some of the features are unique to the USA?

Standby clock editing stopped working for me over a year ago, no new update ever fixes it. I could edit the colour scheme for each standby face once and then the option to edit again doesn’t appear. Lots of others report the same issue.

I haven’t seen anybody mention this yet but it seems that in the iOS 18 public betas you can no longer add multiple instances of the same app icon to different screens. The existing duplicate icons I had before updating to the public beta remained and work as expected but adding any new instances of app icons will remove all other instances of that icon once making it so you can’t duplicate icons anymore. This bug has really thrown a wrench in my daily Focus rotations.

Every battery is slightly different and it’s calculated at different times. My battery is completely normal for the amount of cycles though.

I have IOS 18 public beta on an iphone SE second gen and it seems to be running just fine. I haven't seen a lot of new features but it seems snappy enough. when the final version comes out I'll install it on my daily. although Geekbench crashed about 3 minutes in when it was doing CPU benchmarks.

On the current public beta I still find the Always on Display is more of a Usually on Display. It acts like my paired Watch is moving too far away and blanking the screen for privacy yet my Watch is unlocked, on my arm less than two feet away, and neither is on Low Power Mode. It doesn't matter if the phone is charging or not. Reported in the Feedback app.

@@Kyroliger Best I’ve come up with is a shortcut on the control panel set to 50% for ringer. You can do one for media too at any %. So when playing a video I can slide down the CONTROL PANEL and hit the SHORTCUT I’ve made.

@@OccupiedMuffins Because each time a new iOS comes out, I can't help thinking that it contributes for a schemed and accelerated obsolescence in terms of battery life, performance etc. for the older phones. And that coming version is quite big and packed with too many changes. Do they really perform the same in 5 years from their initial OS when bought, up to the latest acquired OS? We'll see, I don't know.

iOS 18 has been better than the 16-17 era. Finally they went back to the “before 15” era. The only thing I want Apple to do is maybe give the icons more shadows (have a setting to change that) and also bring the KZbin app in iMessage back.

I dont understand apples approach to background processing, most of the processing takes place exclusively while charging and that too if its left in the night, why do they do that? and if they wanted to why advertise battery health tips and other stuff, why cant they follow other android devices and make the background process go on even on battery? Im referring to photos indexing and classification and i suppose even app updates are supposed to happen in that way but very few people actually charge devices that long for the phone to start background updates.
