I don't know with Apple anymore man,at times I think they are just playing us. I mean the 16 Pro Max is a great phone but so was the last 5-6 iterations of it. They are too incremental,Apple has lost its daring mojo for innovation. Android is the way right now and they always push the bar beyond the "safe zone"..Playing it too safe may not be a good thing for Apple.

I hear you, but for me the iPhone works and nothing works as well and as consistently as it. The gimmicks and “innovations” aren’t exactly game breakers anymore. I was a blackberry guy for ever, used android after for a hot second and ended up on apple devices. I know they’re as secure as can be, they generally just work without effort, and I’m too busy now to worry about the gimmicks. 10 years ago it was exciting to see new features now I just care if the phone works as good as my last one and helps me get my work done. I’ve transitioned from tech geek to dad and small improvements annually means every 2 or 3 years I bother to upgrade I get a better phone.

Evening 😊 I'm so glad I passed on the iPhone 16 Pro Max this year, don't talk to me about Siri, the times I argued with him on my 15 Pro Max for getting it wrong, then him telling me, "that's not nice" or, "I'm doing my best"!! I can't ever see me going back to iPhone anytime soon. My OPPO Find X8 Pro arrived today, I've set it up, all I can say is, wow, buttery smooth, so many cool customisations, it's got everything Google Pixel has and S24 Ultra, but does things better. Lightning fast and lighter than my 9 Pro XL feels nice in the hand, came with a screen protector on it, and it was very simple to transfer everything, so I'm super pleased. The camera has some fab AI features, not had a chance to take any pics yet, heavy rain and gales here at the moment so hopefully tomorrow I will, it's our 22nd wedding anniversary tomorrow. Ohhh you naughty boy not putting another screen protector on! If I had a scratch in mine I wouldn't want it anymore! Your iPhone sounds pretty bad! ❤

You hit it dead on! I've been an iPhone user since the 7 plus watched you demo the 23 ultra last year was amazed by it so purchased one really an awesome phone. On launch date I purchased the 16 pro Max basically had the same issues you described, very disappointing so I kept it two weeks traded it in for the 24 ultra. I have the 15 Pro Max. I knew when I bought it that it was the upper limit of size that I want. I don't find anything particularly compelling about the 16 Pro Max, so I didn't upgrade. Honestly I am most excited about this rumored 17 Air Phone, a thinner, lighter phone rumored to be 6.6". That is a phone I would upgrade to.

I think the base models were the most substantial updates this year, excluding the 60hz display of course. I passed on the 16PM and just kept my 15PM. Maybe next year will be the year.

The only time I messed up an iPhone screen is when my iPhone 5C got smashed between the floor and bottom of the ramp in my wheelchair accessible minivan. It developed an LCD leak to the point that I couldn’t do anything with it. I took it to T-Mobile and got the Samsung Note 4. Worse mistake I made. A year later I was back on the iPhone with the 7 Plus. I haven’t looked back since. I’m now on the 16 Plus and loving every iPhone I had since the 7 Plus (XR, 11, 12, 14 Plus, 15 Plus and now the 16 Plus).

I watch all of your posts and I think they are fine. One suggestion I have is that you mix in charts, live examples, etc. when appropriate. I think the best example was the time you reviewed a bicycle and you included a video of someone riding on the bike. Just holding a phone up doesn’t cut it. Having said this I’ll continue watching. If it weren’t for the unbelievable battery life of this phone, I would feel like I’ve been totally ripped off. Apple’s software feels like it’s for the uninitiated, at least on the iOS side of things. It’s so uncomplicated to the point of things just being cumbersome. And, no, it does not “just work”, the glitches on here are real and is borderline buggy. I’m typically an Android guy, but have found myself to be more of the product than my actual device, if you get my drift. Another reason why I switched is I just thought Apple will be more responsible with their AI after reading tons of articles on how they would implement it. Just didn’t think it would take them this long, but let’s see.

I wouldn’t have upgraded from my 15 pro max if mine didn’t have so many issues, including the infamous overheating and mine completely dying and not turning back on. Sure the 16 pro max is an incremental upgrade, but the 16 is what the 15 should have been! I personally haven’t had anymore heating issues. I do agree about the screen scratching easily though. Just wiping the screen to install screen protector cause some scratches to show up.

So true, I've been having a ton of similar issues like you...yet with my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Although I don't recall dropping it ever, no screen damage. Maybe it's because of the betas I've been part of. I don't get it...especially the keyboard and screen input issues. The wallpaper picker is also broken in beta 4 of 18.2. So ridiculous!!!

You must be very unlucky and have a poor model. I have never owned an iPhone, but know they work and have a good ecosystem. Even here in the UK, iPhones are very popular. I have always had mainly Samsung Android phones and currently using my S23 Ultra, which has been very reliable. I don't have many apps on my phone and hardly need to use third party apps. The camera button is good, but as you said needs setting up. When I get any phone, I go through settings to get the phone how I want it. I will call your review, your personal experience with the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Still no RSC support in the UK except perhaps for EE. Have also tried iOS 18.1 batch of Apple Intelligence before disabling it again. Have stopped watching videos touting half-baked beta features that will probably never make it outside the US. Still, I like the iPhone hardware, and the standard iOS experience. Some “old” features such as Continuity camera have finally started working reliably, not Universal clipboard though.

I purchased an iPhone 16 Pro Max after having used the pro for years. I’m kind of uncertain if I wanna return it or not today is the last day to do so. I’m older now and my eyes aren’t so good so I love the larger display. I certainly find myself using my phone more, but I know it’s kind of a honeymoon period. So I guess I’m curious if anybody has downgraded and how they felt about it. While I like the larger screen size the pro Max just doesn’t fit in pockets very well. It feels very bulky in large pockets and I have some jeans wear the top of the phone pokes out. There’s absolutely no way for me to enjoy a dinner out without pulling it out and putting it on the table. Any advice? Has anyone else with weak eyes “downgraded” to Pro and regretted it?

😮 very surprised... iPhone is supposed to work everytime because iPhone is perfect 😅. iPhone 13 Pro is my first ever iPhone and Nothing Phone(1) is my other daily phone. Until there, i don't like iOS that much but i don't have issues too, few rare freeze. There were a lot of complain with 14 Pro, i remember and users still have random problems with their iPhone but most KZbinrs don't want to speak about them: iPhone is perfect and Android smartphones are inconsistent, it's a pattern to repeat in every review. There is no perfect brand, no perfect phone. I hope you can have a replacement device since you do work with it. Interesting content.

Ceramic shield scratches easily because it's soft glass, but harder to crack. The older glass in phones was hard glass that broke more easily but didn't scratch.

Give Apple time to finish what they're doing with Apple Intelligence before jumping to conclusions. It takes more effort to create a privacy focused on-device Ai program than mobile based Ai. After using Pixel 9 Pro I was disappointed tbh with it being so mobile Ai driven off Google servers once I turned WiFi and Mobile off the New Pixel Ai features were unusable. Without Internet the Tensor G4 is a pretty weak processor even offline games like, Subway Surfers, Idle Swordfight, Crossy Road, and Angry Birds ran laggy at times.

Gotta be honest this release was very underwhelming saying that as I buy the latest and greatest iPhone every year. Its an iPhone it works as it should but the incremental upgrades are becoming very stagnant the main selling point of this years phones with the AI isn't fully realized and it probably won't be for a couple more years. Decided to buy a pixel 9 pro XL recently and I gotta say goodbye to the iPhone even though the tensor isnt on par with Apple A series chips the feature set and the way Google has been able to optimize this phones overall performance is awesome with android 15 it's great. Even though there are some gripes with pixel like camera transition is jarring and few other things but overall I am enjoying the pixel 9 pro XL.

I really think iPhone software needs to be revamped given that we’re in 2024. I have 16 pro and I still have issues connecting to wifi, s23 connects faster to my home network than new iPhone. And 16 pro has crashing app issues

I have an iPhone 15 pro max and an iPhone 16 pro max and it’s literally like using the same phone. I don’t notice anything different in the way I use the phone.

I have never used slo mo and i have never used the microphones to record video. I try using both my Samsungs and my iphone. I can't use the iphone much. It doesnt do anything I need. I haveto talk in Spanish a lot. Usually, it's easier to let the Samsung automatically tryp from English to Spanish while I type rather than having issues with my friends understanding the dialect I speak and respnding, "Como fue?" 11:54 Same texting issues. I would type and the auto correct put curse words in my family group messages. 14:59 FaceID - I don't like having to angle the screen to my face when I am lying down or just need to go into an app from the notification to actually see what is going on into the app. 19:52 Apple Intelligence is a scam just like any product from Elon Musk. So Apple can't be criticized about any of their products in your view because EcOsYstEm? A phone that's been marketed to the hilt on features that are "coming soon," delayed, or not measuring up to the claims the manufacturer made about them? I've always loved Apple products, but they've lost something in recent years, and I believe they're (pardon the pun) phoning it in knowing the loyal fan base like yourself will buy whatever they come out with. There's little in the way of Apple magic and innovation happening. And sure, that's true of many manufacturers, and they should be called out for the same. But these kinds of videos are what spur people to think before purchasing, and hold companies accountable. Maybe you should ease up on the Kool Aid, buddy.
