Bro that squared of design on the bigger phones of the recent years is just BULLSHIT No way this design feels more comfortable to hold and far from EvEn bEiNg fUtUrIsTiC The iphone 4/5 were small phones so that didn't matter much for them but in an era where 99% smart phone brands have been making curbed edge design for ages this new design truly feels it's not meant to be here and that, it is rather more uncomfortable.

I think that Jobs might have eventually caved on adding more sizes to the iPhones, but he'd find the current lineup way to complex and confusing for their customers. What is "Pro" about the iPhone 12 Pro? Why have a 12 and a 12 Pro when the only difference is 1 camera lense? And why have an SE and a Mini when the 2 could be combined to form one smaller AND cheaper iPhone? The same is true of the iPad lineup IMO. Why do we have a 12.9" Pro, an 11" pro, an Air, a Mini AND a bog standard iPad? It's way too much, too much choice for too little difference.
@MrCaps-sq4bk3 жыл бұрын
I understand what you mean, for example the iPhone 12 Pro, isn't that much different the regular iPhone 12. Besides the the telephoto lense and the bigger aperture, and the stainless steel bands and finishes, I think the iPhone 12 pros shouldn't really exist to begin with. However with the times, Android has many different phones at different prices to target different consumers, with different needs. What's important to note, that as long it has a strong purpose to be there, it's fine and it's the not same product, in the same category. There is a purpose for the entire level iPad, as not everyone wants to spend a lot for one, and makes it accessible to all, at a affordable price. the lineup could be adjusted, but it's important to note, just because we don't want a certain phone, that shouldn't it exist in the first place, Apple should investigate and explore the possibilities, but as long it has a strong reason to exist and not the same product in the same category I think it's fine.
@--23 жыл бұрын
I absolutely agree! There is nothing wrong with the new iPhones, but the lineup is too complex! And Apple starts working on phones years before release, so I think a part of the design, and the vision for the iPhone 6 came from Jobs!

if you believe Jobs would’ve done anything differently I think you’re absolutely mistaken . Apple , either under Jobs or cook , are money grabbing nuts . the pro iphones are just there to elude customers for the 1000$ price tag market . if jobs was still here , I’d highly doubt he would sell products for any less or any differently .
@themightyavenger10233 жыл бұрын
The thing that most people overlook is that the reason Steve Jobs was so successful was that he *wasn’t* nostalgic. He lived in the present and made what he thought best decisions for the days he was living in, rather than clinging on to the past, which would have been futile and frankly dumb. I feel like Tim Cook had mostly been doing the exact seem thing, but people romanticize Steve Jobs so much and “the reality distortion field”, they act like Cook is so much worse. The truth is, the vast majority of the complaints about Apple now are the exact same ones people had about Jobs. Anti-competitive, pointlessly getting rid of popular ports, overpriced, greedy behavior, some failed products (MobileMe anyone?) etc. Heck, if you look back at tech journalism from 2013, a lot of people were already getting sick of iOS 6 because the feature gap between it and Android Jelly Bean was ridiculous by that point, and it really couldn’t do a lot of relatively simple things, like downloading things in the background (if you tried to download a comic from the Marvel app for instance, you legit had to sit there and couldn’t leave the app). I’m saying this as someone who admires Steve Jobs and the older iOS versions, but nostalgia can really be a dangerous drug.

The reason why people feel/felt nostalgic is because prior to iPhone X and now 12, there were barely any significant changes to the iPhone. Apple kept recycling old and ugly iPhone 6 design elements up until the current generation, which frustrated customers like me who wanted a phone designed in a way that didn’t feel inferior to Steve Jobs era. I believe that one of the last things that Steve Jobs said to Tim Cook was to not ask what Steve would have done but for Tim to do what he felt was right and what was necessary. As much as I miss my iPhone 4, the iPhone 5 wasn't enough to prevent me from switching to a Samsung Galaxy S4. The competition with Android was and is still fierce. And Android phones, most notably Samsung phones where coning out with phones that were rivaling the iPhone. So Tim Cook and Apple had to adapt to the changes in consumer tastes, e.g. larger screens and better cameras. Some of the things that Tim did Steve would have probably done as well.

As photo quality became more and more important for mobile phones, as consumers began using their phones more and digital cameras less, phones needed bigger and bigger cameras. The only way to put bigger cameras in a phone without them protruding is to make the whole phone thicker (and heavier) so that the cameras don’t protrude. Would iPhone customers have been content to stick with thicker, heavier phones when Android manufacturers like Samsung started boasting that their flagship phones were thinner than flagship iPhones? i think that the 4 is peak iPhone in terms of design. i feel that there are still some things that apple could adopt from the Steve jobs era. For starters the iPhone 4 had a camera flush with the back glass where modern iPhone (from the 6 onwards) is starting to look ridiculous, the lack of a headphone jack, and the use of glossy stainless steel as opposed to the brushed stainless steel. i would rather have a thicker iphone with a camera that sits flush with the back with greatly improved battery life and the headphone jack returning. I am starting to really not like how apple keeps increasing the size of the camera bump. Don't get me wrong, the 5 is a good design but i feel the 4 being more ahead of its time and more parts of the 4 have aged better.

I’m not mad about larger phones because we rely on them so much more now, especially for productivity and media consumption. I’m disgusted with how the software reacts to the way larger devices - if doesn’t. You HAVE TO constantly reach to the 3% most inconvenient and hardest reaching areas of the phone for 65% of the most common needs (literally just going back, notifications, control centers and the media controls within it, safari search bar - I could go on!). Beyond that, it shouldn’t be as heavy as it is. We rest the entire thing on our pinkies like damn Apple.

Personally, I consider the iPhone 6 through the 11 the same design language. Yes you have the new full screen display, but the frame and design was still too similar to the iPhone 6 with the same rounded edges and camera bump. Now the iPhone 12, that's a new design language for sure

If the iPhone 5 is the last true iPhone, does that mean the iPad 4 is the last true iPad? The similarities are: • Released in 2012 • First of their line to use Lightning port • Last of their line to use 32-bit processors • Uses the classic home button • Retina display • No fingerprint sensor

Any iPhone Steve Jobs, had a hand in before his death is the real iPhone. Seen as it is 10 years since his passing, Steve Jobs estate should now open up his personal archives to show what thinking on designs and ideas.

I had a white iPhone 5, and I LOVED the sleek modern design of it. It's one of my favorite iPhones. I had an iPhone 6S for awhile, and I've had an iPhone X since it came out in 2017. I have really enjoyed using my X for the last four years despite it's fairly weak battery performance... it has long struggled to make it through a day when I can't charge it. It has a very nice design, a good camera, and a beautiful OLED display - and it still performs very well. I have a Sierra Blue iPhone 13 Pro on order, coming in November. I really like the return (since the iPhone 12) to the metal straight-sided design of the iPhone 5. The 13 Pro is so pretty, I will be getting a thin clear case for it, so it will be visible but protected.

What is the screen size of your iPad Pro? If not 12.9", never ever watch 4K KZbin video on this iPad! 4K is Ultra HD (2160p). Decreasing that resolution to Quad HD (1440p) on an iPad unless it has a 12.9" Retina display will not affect displayed picture but will save traffic.

Starting with the Note 10, Samsung has also been going through a similar shift. The cameras got moved to a corner and the shape of the back panel is no longer a double saddle atarting with S22

The iPhone 5 was probably the best iPhone Apple ever made in my opinion and after that they kinda went to crap I had the iPhone 5C after my iPhone 5 started getting slow and outdated and that thing was crap I honestly wish I kept my iPhone 5 instead of upgrading to the iPhone 5C so then I switched to Android mostly Samsung Phone's or Motorola Phone's until the Google Pixel came out and now that's what I currently have and I couldn't be happier with Google Pixel.

I recently upgraded from a 1st gen SE to a 3 week old 12, unfortunately not the mini, however battery life is just amazing, and the small trick with beeing able to drop down the top half of your home screen for 1 hand useage is just simply amazing! Yes, Apples functions are behind android, however, things just… work on the iphone. I will still use my SE as a backup phone just in case, but overall, im impressed!

Aesthetically the 5 is right behind the 4 (the best). A phone like the 4 with todays displays, processors, camera etc. and the 5 size would be perfect

Technicallyy is the iPhone 4 Because Steve Jobs had a size standard, and the iPhone 5 (even if today is too small) but back then it grew the size that job stablished as perfect iPhone 6, 7, 8, X, and 11 on the other hand, grew so much and their design looked as normal androids And don't let me start with the design of iOS 7 and next ones... Too simple, too minimalistic. Previous iOS design were so recognisable and distinctive

I much preferred the old realistic looking icons, actually. And I still think the 5 series was the perfect form factor. And that's coming from someone who watches a ton of mobile video.

Man, the design improvement was from the sharp aquos and mi mix 1. These are the legends in forward thinking designs. And that mix 1 beats the iPhone 4 design, by a long shot. The iPhone 4's design became outdated in 5 years and its build was matched. The mix 1, 5 years later not only still beats flagships and matches their build, its design is so iconic it still turns heads and still looks modern. You go on the streets with a iphone 10 and no one's really gonna bat a eye. You do the same with the mix 1 and everyone will ask you what phone that is. That right there is innovative design. That is what apple has never been able to pull off. The iPhone 5's design just examplefied some of apple's shortcomings. Its outdated design was apparent. The 5s helped to fix many issues but design and battery life weren't one of them.

I think the last true phone of the Steve Jobs era is the iPhone SE first generation, when Jobs died, at Apple they said that they had products supervised by Jobs in every sector for some years ahead, so is reasonable to think that when Steve Jobs died, they had the iPhone 4S coming out and the iPhone 5 in the "pipeline", but they could also have outlined the features of the iPhone 5S that is so much similar to the iPhone 5, then they took some time and presented the iPhone 6 with a refreshed external design and finally the iPhone SE that, with the same design of the iPhone 5S and feature upgrades would have been the actual iPhone 6 ;-D
