Lost to No. 2 in the world and due to the excessive damage that always got in fights, began with symptoms of pugilistic dementia. Which detracted him physically and psychologically. Now he must choose which is more important, to continue fighting or what happens to his own body.

Sadly that uppercut wasnt used much in the series
@rift348711 ай бұрын
@@paulhartsoe1026 it was used?It’s just that his Sunday punch changes as the series progresses. Around the start, a lot of his finishers were uppercuts until the gazelle punch came along which later got shafted for the Dempsey roll. Really, ippo’s most underused finishing punch would probably be the gazelle punch. Ippo barely remembers to use it in a lot of his fights and only seems to ever use it when he’s trying to do a combo to Dempsey roll

I'd like to learn from your coach. Though I box for fun, I only ever learned proper movement from scratch and my guard is practically "tank hits, and pay them back ten-fold" other than that, my coaches refined how I punch and actually made me more resistant to punishment

The technique takamura describes for a cross is accurate, however ippo executes it wrong. You don't want to topple over like throwing a baseball; rather, you want to hit the target exactly when or shortly before your front foot touches the groun again.
@ttchme98162 жыл бұрын
Nope, there's no correct way to throw the cross. A good example would be pacquiao's front leg pivot cross, it doesn't just touches the ground before punching it literally uses the front leg to pivot and sends your momentum forward like a rocket. (Edit : but I can see your point about him almost leaning to the ground ) Also, don't forget that ippo is a beginner learning to even power punch correctly. Teaching him to do this gross summary of cross is an effective way to teach him how power is generated from a punch and it's up to himself to hone the punch itself.
@Muscaplays2 жыл бұрын
@@ttchme9816 Yeah but Pacqiao uses them when he needs them, and knows what he's doing. As long as you know what you're doing, it's ok to deviate from classic teaching, but there's a reason crosses are taught the way I described.

@MrPatrioticCanadian2 жыл бұрын
@@finalsan5232 If you want some manga spoilers, I'll drop some here. Ippo is still in retirement, but is helping out at Kamogawa Gym as a trainer and second. Sendo became the 1st-rank boxer in his weight class after defeating Alfredo Gonzales in Mexico, and this was after scoring a down on Ricardo Martinez in a spar prior to the match. Sendo was going to fight Ricardo after winning his fight against Alfredo, but plans changed as the world featherweight champion accepted a challenge from 3rd rank world featherweight Wally. Right now, Wally is about to spar against Volg Zangief. Regarding Ricardo accepting a challenge from Wally, despite promising to fight Sendo after he won against Alfredo, I think it has to do with a few factors. One, Sendo injured his fist against Alfredo, so he may be giving him time to recover, much to the Naniwa Tiger's chagrin. Second, Wally is an instinctive fighter who is growing into his potential, much like Sendo has. This match would help Ricardo prepare him in his fight against Sendo, assuming Wally doesn't cause an upset. Finally, all the aforementioned boxers have a common thread linking them together. Sendo, Wally, and Alfredo all fought against Ippo (he beat Sendo twice and Wally once, but Alfredo gave him his second loss). Ricardo is growing interested in him and is trying to figure out what kind of boxer he was through his opponents. The young man he stopped with his left in his spar before fighting Date again has left an impression on the boxing world, and it is becoming more apparent to Ricardo as time goes on. I wouldn't be surprised if he would accept a challenge from Ippo in the future, should he come out of retirement.
