Thanks for the weather update. Your a better than the reporters on TV. Sydney got hit by torrential rain storms, but nothing like yours. Our thoughts are with Queenslanders (your a tuff bunch). I know you all pull together in a crisis. Stay safe. 🐠

We had a huge storm roll through at about 6am Dave that dumped more buckets worth of water. Showers for the rest of the week but more than enough for the dams to handle. Has dropped from about 190% capacity down to 140%.

Thanks for sharing, I lived in Brassall in 2011 and was staying in the Ipswich City centre when the flood came. I've been wondering if riverstink was flooded again. Glad to hear they brought back the river monster, I moved away not long after so I never knew if it lived to swim again. 😊

Its interesting again to have the opposite problem. Every time you have these huge floods, where I am in Melbourne we get basically no rain, in 2 months I think we have had less than 20mm. Glad you guys are safe and hope the La Nina break soon.

Glad to hear you’re doing well. Saw a report a few days ago about flooding in Queensland, and hoped you were high & dry. Queensland is a big state. We lived through a couple of big rains when we lived in Texas by the coast. About a year before we moved to the desert, it rained 34inches or 86 cm. In a 24 hour period. A strong steady downpour the whole time. Luckily we lived close enough to the estuary system that it all flowed away into the gulf. Houston, nearest city, got flooded. It was a stalled hurricane. Now, a good rain is about 1/2 a cm. Official (according to my neighbor) it’s a rain if you can count 10 water drops in a square foot. We had a 12cm snow fall the other day, filled one of my rain tanks capturing about 4000 liters. We’ve had a nice warming spell and fish happy and eating well. Harvested one nice big strawberry for my wife, I ate a couple small ones. The plants in the clay media beds look loaded with green berries, but the ones in the dwc trough are lagging. They need cleaning out though. Next on the to do list. Stay dry! Cheers 🍻

I think I'd prefer torrential ran to snow Joe. I'm too much of a lizard I think. 😄 That's very nice of you. I very rarely got any ripe ones, Kira used to flog them all just as they got their colour. Hope the clear out goes well for you mate. Cheers. 🍻

It was good to see a lot of them moving furniture & possessions out a few days beforehand Robin. I think many were paying attention to the weather forecasters & other locals this time which helped a lot as the govenment dropped the ball yet again on this one.

we used to live by a river when my kids were small. the town din't built house right by the river because it flooded every year. but there was a park with a play ground that my kids enjoyed. they totally freaked when they saw the water running through the swings and slides. important life lessons

We made sure our place sat over no old coal mins & was well above the historic flood levels before we bought. Used to see bad flooding on the farm we used to live on & it used to freak me out a fair bit as a kid.

I feel for the families that have to renovate after flooding, we had a bathroom flood our house on Dec 5 and the repairs are still not completed. It scary to me to think of moving somewhere that has that type of flooding but I might be doing just that soon.
