iRacing - First Time Racing at Fuji: A Battle I Didn't Expect 😱 | Fanatec GT3 Challenge

Good racing.. This week is a tough combo for sure. I've only done a handful of laps here, the McLaren is tricky. One thing that drives me crazy in iRacing GT3 is anyone can change cars week to week to chase the BOP. I'd love to see a series that forces you you commit to one car for the whole season, would make the racing a little more interesting.

Didn't quite expect it but races have been amazing here. I've done about 3 for now. Thanks mate, appreciate it ! 😄👊 Mcl is tricky !!??? 😱 Isn't the rear stable enough to turn with a bit of steering input with the 720s ? I thought Porsche was the only tough car to drive around tracks like this. I did see a lot of Mcl on the grid & some lads were doing 39.2 😮 Tbh when I got on iRacing & knew very little about the series... I thought fixed series meant fixed car & setup for the entire season 😂 I second this.. it would be really good to drive one and only car for the entire season. I saw a few driving the 296 at Watkins & same folks were driving the 992 at RBR.

I did some practice last night. Fun track sector 3 is toughhhhh. I can’t see the damn corners. what FOV you run? also, if you want more weight from your wheel without clipping raise your damper settings on the wheel base. not sure about in game. i never mess with those.

Bro I can't express how hooked this track got me !!! My first few practice runs were terrible especially in S3. Since we'll have to brake while having some steering input considering the nature of the corners, I kept spinning. Later I found the perfect line to nail it. I can't remember the FOV on top of my mind rn.. Maybe 50 ? 🧐 I'll check and update this. I couldn't see the track & apex, so I had to change FOV value here. Clipping isn't the real issue here, it's the wheel's FFB itself. Even with 100% FFB I get very little feedback so the game shows red bar. I usually don't prefer monthly payouts on tech, but I'll make an exception & maybe upgrade to Simagic mini 😁

@ Track is one of my favorites. The layout without the chicane is better IMO for overtaking. hoping to get a race in tonight deff this weekend. If you’re going DD definitely get a rig first. I made that mistake. if you don’t have one. lose a ton of fidelity. Desk clamps are not strong enough either. I ran a logitech for a long time. DD will make you a little faster yes, but only because you can feel more detail. Your new pedals will give you more pace than a DD. I’ll send ya my CSLDD when I upgrade. 🤣 seriously if you want prob selling cheap, along with 3 wheels. Might grab a VRS bundle on Black Friday. They have a bundle with a 20nm wheel base and formula rim for 1k pre black friday.

@chickey31 Haven’t seen the no chicane layout tho, that seems interesting.. I think I forgot to mention earlier… when I upgraded the pedals I also bought a rig with bucket seat. That’s where the base money went 😂😂 I knew it would’ve been impossible to place the LC pedals on the ground 😆 You a legend bro ! 😁😁👊 Looks like everyone choosing VRS now. 20nm is absolutely off the charts. But thankfully I did find a dealer here offering all sorts of bases & wheel add ons. Lots of responsibilities on the way so, I wouldn’t see myself spending on sim equipments in the coming years or days. 3 tracks a month depending on the series for iRacing content is ok, but nothing on the rig & pc itself.

Fuji is such an underrated track to me. I really love racing here in the Gran Turimo Sport day in the GR.2 cars (Super GT). Did a few test runs on iRacing yesterday and am really have a hard time with the final sector. Hope to do some racing on friday. Good racing mate👍

Fuji is indeed underrated af. Lots of technical corners and nailing them is so much rewarding. I have seen Steve from super GT racing around this track in the RSR I believe. Very interesting lines in GT Sport.

@@SlicksandSlipstream That would be cool, but I think we are in different time zones. I think I have to be driving very late at night or in the morning to race US players. Fuji made me buy the Porsche GT3 by the way. The M4 is just awfull on this track in the final sector. No traction at all.

@MKIIUltRacer I am not based in the US, I’m from Asian, Singapore region. Maybe if you’re around Asian or Oceania it would be easier to be in the same lobby 😁 Whoa !! That’s a bummer. I was watching a few streams & some bimmer driver was lapping really fast and was leading up on the grid at Fuji. But yes, Porsche looks like it’s the go to car choice.

@@SlicksandSlipstream oh sorry my bad lol. Still a different time zon haha. I use garage 61 to compare my laptimes to others and use the telemetry to see where i can improve. The fastest time in the M4 on G61 for this seasons fixed races is a second slower than the fastest Porsche time. Never seen a gap this big. Fastest time for the Ferrari is also half a second faster.
