iRacing Has 112 Missing Tracks, I Found Them All

One of the early missing tracks is "Papyrus Speedway.". I remember running that during the very early testing days. Some of the more recent ones was probably where iRacing modeled Autoclub Speedway as a .5 mi short track for the NASCAR brass. The more recent ones are probably things NASCAR has asked iRacing to conjure up so they can kick the tires on an idea. I know NASCAR was very impressed that iRacing's simulation of Chicago Street nailed everything that happened in the event to a tee. If you notice right after that time was when you started to see people like Steve Letarte and the bigger Cup teams get a lot more involved with the Coke Series and whatnot.

While I can't confirm it, I remember hearing something about Irwandale and Oxford having dirt configurations like USA and Lanier, but they weren't added for whatever reason.

There was, I think, a screenshot floating around that I can no longer find of a rallycross car on the GRC Irwindale layout. Want to say I remembered seeing it around when the Subaru was being announced. I also think, if I remember, that there's some test versions of Irwindale that are just dev testing tracks and not commercially released ones.

A quick note on the Red Bull Ring motorcycle layout: it was constructed in late 2021/early 2022 after the track was added to iRacing, so would not be part of the scan data that iRacing collected, which was most likely done before ‘Rona lockdowns. It’s a chicane built on the area between turn 1 and turn 4. And I’d also like to know if this takes into account some tracks that were updated to modern specs, but who’s legacy versions are no longer usable. Example is Watkins Glen, which had a full rescan done in the last two years, but the old version cannot be used any more. That would account for four layouts: full Boot circuit and NASCAR version, with and without bus stop chicanes. If they’re still visible in the list then it leaves a potential unused track, but if they’re NOT in the list and you can only see the current versions, then that may be what’s missing for one of the ‘unused’ slots.

Regarding #406 I may or may not have insider information that IRacing scanned Route 66 Raceway aka The Dirty O while they were in town (The Dirt track near Chicagoland Speedway) but it was important that the track is scanned and preserved digitally as it is in its last days.

When iRacing scanned our brazilian stock cars, we had a relatively spread rumor about they also takin' the opportunity to scan some few tracks.. If was true and considering how the cars flopped hard, they may have canned the tracks and it fits the huge gaps in content from late 2021, early 2022 when the Stock Cars arrieved on iRacing (ID 415 to 422). I don't found any link about it searching now, but I'm pretty sure I read about it when the cars being scanned leaked . But, tracks being scanned was a rumor never confirmed and considering how Interlagos, our most famous track, is in a desperate need for a update, probably was a false rumor. Since would have been the perfect opportunity for a new Interlagos scan.

I’m positive #272 is Belleville, another dirt track in Kansas. When USAC was licensed with iRacing, they scanned multiple tracks in the midwest, and Belleville was confirmed to be scanned but has not released yet.

8:20 Brands Hatch did have at least 3 Rallycross Layouts I can find that are different from what iRacing has in the game, but to me knowledge they aren´t used for many years now. But I somehow doubt that it´s any of them that is missing as it would be someone odd for iRacing to add only 1 of them considering they are all not a thing for well over a decade before Brands Hatch was added in general. All Layouts began at the Regular Start of the Track, had a unpaved shicane on the inside of Paddock Hill Bend, would go left on a unpaved section between Druids and Graham Hill Bend and go parallell to Cooper Straight. One of the Layouts (AFAIK the older one) would do a Hairpin near the exit of Surtees, do the Cooper Straght about half way in the wrong direction and use a Service Road to connect to the Pit Exit to complete the Lap. This Layout is in Project CARS 2 as Brand Hatch Classic Rallycross. The other Layout would do a chicane in the Surtees Area and cut straight across the grass to near the Pit Entry to then use the entire Brabham straight. The 3rd Layout I know off is basically a combination of the first two that would do a different chicane near Surtees to use the regular connectinc corner for the Indy Layout and then near Pit Entry would cut across the grass back down to Cooper Straight to do the rest of the 1st Layout. IIRC at least Layout 2, if noth also the 3rd one was in TOCA / Pro / DTM Race Driver 3.

Redbullring MotoGP layout was created after the scan for iracing. The part of the track that was created between turn 1 and the hairpin isnt there in game. I also think it could be Winton as they do Rallycross there, thats what could be missing.

Brands Hatch has a rally and rally cross configuration. Not sure Rally cross is still used any more. Turn sharp left after turn 2 hairpin well before turn 3 Graham Hill bend. This ran on dirt then a chicane back across the track and grass cutting out clearway onto the start finish straight rejoining the tarmac before the pit lane entrance. Project cars had a variant of the track where instead of the chicane you turned right heading the wrong way towards turn 3 Graham Hill bend the turning sharp left to an access dirt road to join the pit lane exit, Beith a sharp right turn before paddock Hill bend turn 1 with a dirt chicane left then right onto tarmac in the dip between turn 1 and 2. Brands hatch has a real life rally stage that isn't like the ingame rallytrack. The missing id could have been that. You run the rally section then 3 laps of the track in various configs (that cut through pitlanes and service roads with tyre wall chicanes). They may have added it to see if their systems could work with it.

One more from me. Rockingham has to be included. The variations are many, legends used to use a chicane utilising the pit exit turn 1. ASCAR used the oval, gt and formula junior cars touring cars used many variations over time and there is also inner road course separate to the oval. Often on track days both were used at the same time. I drove on the oval in formula car and the mini Cooper were running on the infield only course

i wouldnt be surprised if atleast a small portion are just empty baseplates, or undetailed tracks that were used for drive tests. edit: I didnt get to the 40 consecutive missing. Thats most definitely gonna be development tracks for testing cars. The verified tracks before those were more than likely made before the cars were ready for testing, and thats why the development tracks are so far down the line.

I’d say #441 is potentially the RX layout for Winton; it was constructed in 2017, so before the scan, but I suspect it didn’t make economical sense to produce, as it was already somewhat of a niche road track and putting another paid RX layout in on a track people were extremely unlikely to purchase just for RX usage would only split the already small fields.

Belle Isle didn't have 4 or 5 configurations, that's true, but they did have that one other that they alternated back and forth between in the event's on-again, off-again history. I'm pretty sure the racing surface and maybe even the curbing from that old shortcut through Picnic Way still exists irl, so they probably have it scanned as an alternate layout that hasn't reached the light of day yet.

There was a second configuration for Belle Isle. When it was added back to the IndyCar schedule, they ran a shorter layout for a few years before returning to the full layout. Looks like it was also run on the 90s, but that was before my time as a race fan. So that might answer one missing number in that chunk, but not all of them.

Charlotte Dirt could have had some short course truck layout added, I think they had something long ago so it wouldn't have been scanned like a lot of the RX courses. One of the layouts of Daytona could have been the mini dirt oval they have outside Turn 1, which is currently being ran by AFT.

Lanier Karting couldnt be a thing in iRacing. The karting came out just a couple years ago after 2017/18. Knowing who the track owners are now, sadly they wouldnt want anything more to do with motorsports other than drifting and car shows. RIP Lanier short track racing. For #32, the Richmond Raceway did not have a go-kart track on it's property in 2008. There was an indoor kart track called G-Force Karts located in a warehouse across the street from Richmond Raceway. In 2019 G-Force Karts moved out of the warehouse location and began operating for outdoor rental karting in one of the parking lots on the Richmond Raceway property. G-Force Karts went out of business within about a year or two after moving outdoors and there is no more karting at the Richmond Raceway Complex.

Road America has five available configurations, and only has two currently. Track gets split at T5/T13 at the crossover. Back half of the track is the skip barber school course - you can add the bend or delete it for an additional layout. Front half is used for high-speed testing - there is a former loop inside T3, but has been disused for more than 30 years.

It could be 113, because most programming languages start counting from 0. Though apparently databases with auto-incrementing values (where the value likely originates from) usually start from 1. There are very valid reasons to start from 1 under other circumstances too, since 0 can be set as a default value and therefore whenever track 0 is asked for, you'll know it was a mistake.

There's a Kart track at Brands Hatch which could have been scanned? They also have two Rally stages on site, but I would say that's less likely. I've also always wondered given that Brands, Oulton Park and Snetterton (Donington added recently are all in iRacing and owned by Motorsport Vision. However Cadwell Park also owned by Motorsport Vision isn't in iRacing. I wonder if that's been scanned?

They did add dirt to other tracks as we all know, them doing it do a track that notably had actually been dirtified is reasonable 401-402: I feel like one of them is probably Nashville dirt. IRL WoO raced at Nashville with dirt on the quarter mile, makes sense they'd consider it 495: Kern, but without the frontstretch wall. They used to run Kern like that, so it makes sense they'd consider a version like it 441: Probably Bristol Dirt but with the "Dirtles", instead of the flat apron we got

Daytona did have a different configuration for the GRC round in 2015 and 2016, so that might be what 292 or 294 is. Since I'm pretty sure the Hockenheim scan came from SlightlyMad who made Project CARS it's possible 389 is either the rallycross track or their version of the old Hockenheim since Project CARS 2 had both.

Detritus sorry Detroit Bell Isle after turns 1 and 2 the straight was shorter turning right. So turn 3 and 4 now wasn't used. The old version joined ar what would be turn 5 now. So a slightly shorter track. This was during the CART era, they lengthened the track to create better over taking on the track, I could be wrong but I think that was 1998.
