@jonkR965 жыл бұрын
Lazer Brainz Yes it would, although I doubt those people would want to be seen by the public as potentially supporting a “homegrown terrorist group of gun owners”. That’s what the MSM is preparing to call the patriots attending and in turn, labeling all gun owners as such. Their stories are written and ready to go. All they need is an “event” to plaster them to. This event will likely hurt gun owners overall as the MSM has control of the narrative.

Admirable. In my experience the anti gun viewpoint overwhelmingly comes from a place of elitism and privilege. Law abiding Mexican citizens (good people) are allowed to purchase a firearm in Mexico. It’s just really difficult as there are many regulations. Not to mention the fact that there is only one gun store in the whole country. Mexico is a prime example of how gun laws don’t work. The cartels buy the guns illegal or cross them over the border from the US because they can’t obtain them legally. Think about that for a second...MX has some of the toughest gun laws and only one gun store yet criminals have more guns than the law abiding citizens. Because of this the public has to submit to the will of the cartels as do the police and government.

But criminals plowing their way into a house while the owners are there are quite uncommon. Most gun violence is either on the"street" or the result of domestic violence. Perhaps that fact informs her opinions. But, by all means, if you want to keep a ready home defense weapon at the ready, do so. My wife does when I'm away. @@bgurtek Uncommon as home invasions may be, a home defense firearm is a lot like a fire extinguisher. You'll probably go your whole life without ever having to use it for its intended purpose, but if that day arises when you need it but don't have it on hand, you may not get a second chance. You are correct that theft is the source of most firearms used in crime, but I disagree somewhat with you on the need for "properly securing" said firearm. If you don't have children, or anyone else in the household whom you cannot reasonably trust to handle a fiream safely, then there's no need to lock up your firearm tighter than Fort Knox, because doing this can actually compromise your safety by making it more difficult for you to access the weapon quickly in an emergency situation (i.e. thugs breaking into your house.) Moreover, a lot of cases of firearm theft that I hear of involve vehicles, not people's residences. Rather than secure storage, training with that firearm so that you can reliably hit your intended target even under extreme stress is of the utmost importance. I hope that your wife practices regularly with her pistol, shotgun, or rifle because if she does not, then it will be of little use should she ever need it.

I’ve had this conversation with some left leaning friends who are pretty stringently anti-gun. While the majority of the conversation was just emotion-based with non-sense, there was one good point brought up. As much as I hate to admit it, I tended to agree with him. Didn’t change my outlook on firearms ownership, which I am 100% for with 0 compromises, but nonetheless it was a hard argument to refute. I first equated firearms to any other tool, which is he agreed with, but countered that argument with “Yes it is a tool, but a tool whose sole purpose is to end life in one way or another. You can’t say that a gun is the same as a wrench. Yes, you can kill someone with a wrench, but that wasn’t its original intent. When there are purpose made tools designed to be used to kill and only to kill, that is my issue with them. ” Massively paraphrased there for clarity, but that was the just of the argument. That was the first logical, emotionless standpoint I’ve seen when it comes to being against firearms ownership. As I said, it didn’t change my outlook, but it was at least a solid argument from a factual basis. The issue with that argument, while it is logically sound, is that then we would need to apply it across the board and ban things like alcohol, cigarettes etc, due to the fact that they have no other purpose than to intoxicate, which is “bad”.

Gonna have to disagree with your friend's point. While things can be better or more effective at certain purposes, they have no inherent purpose. The human being that wields them gives them purpose. I've handled guns essentially my entire life, and I've never even come close to hurting another person. I get the sense that this argument has more to do with lack of self-confidence than anything else.

I grew up in a very anti firearm house, my father had a negligent discharge and shot his best friend in the eye as a young adult. However I heard two quotes that won me over from how I was raised. 1.) People who fear falling off a ledge more so fear jumping (in regards to trigger discipline) 2.) a gun doesn’t care how you feel it isn’t a monster but a tool you decide how to use it and why. The bottom line is your intent matters a gun will not randomly fire and if it does have a failure it more so results in it not firing. Hope that maybe helped a few guys and gals out there worried about handling firearms.

A lot of anti-gun/strict control people I meet are simply gentle souls who were either victims of violence or abhor it. I think it's victim mentality, fear. They want people to be protected, because THEY want to be protected, but since they feel incapable of defending themselves they defer to others who are. This fear extends to everyone as a potential abuser, and they revile anyone who they consider "Uncertified" as being a threat.

I’m honestly social liberal and a former Marine officer and I love this conversation! You are 100% correct. It’s a lack of education that caused this Anit-gun conversation. Once truly trained and taught how to use guns they are an amazing tool and truly a fun hobby to be a part of. Through competition shooting I have met some amazing awesome friends. So to anti gun people I say, take a class, go to the range, and I swear you will leave with a smile on your face.

This battle has been ongoing for a very long time, as early as I can remember Hollywood often showed the Marshal or Sheriff disarming cowboys coming in town from cattle drives. Then intent was to make the town more safe in the movie but small things like that impact people in our society how are followers, and most are.

I still remember the conversation I had with a friend’s anti gun wife. We were going back and forth. I asked why she feels the people she elects deserve protection from full auto firearms and we according to her don’t deserve any firearms at all. She said because they are important and they need it. I responded I value your life and think your life is just as important if not more to me. She instantly fell silent. “Anti-gun” people aren’t bad, I feel that they are misled by elected officials that promises safety and comfort while only taking money and delivering on nothing

Most of my British countrymen are wholey ignorant of guns and are often ludicrously anti-gun, same for people that weren't old enough to have guns before most of the bans, they support gun ownership but they have a blind acceptance of how the laws are now, the ones that are as close to pro-gun as the Americans are the ones that actually remember when being a gun owner wasn't a dirty word, I know a few that owned handguns back in the day, mostly veterans even if not from national service or war time

He found a pencil for "Moms Demand Action" on gun control and took it home (found it at a school in a chair unsharpened). He drilled a hole in the end, added a patch holder, and cleans his 50AE with that cleaning rod... It's really beautiful. I hope someday I can shoot it again soon.

@deucedeuce22oz amen! Fools think that certain weapons are allowed and others are not. The government has no right to regulate the very thing that keeps their power in check. What kind of sense would that make? "The right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." There is no wording there of any kind that says we must be; allowed, permitted, allotted, gifted, consented, etc... The government is not needed to have a firearm. Their requirements are illegal. And unless a man has committed a heinous act with a firearm, they have a right to them. If they've served their time, they have a right to them. If I want a cannon mounted on my home, I have a right to it.

I've been watching for years now and have been truly and completely pro gun because of you. Thanks for what you do and I appreciate the attitude in which you communicate your ideas.

It is good you have come to see the truth. If you don't think people "should own semiautos and etc." then you'd have an issue with people owning pistols designed since 1896... when the Mauser C96 (the "Broomhandle" that everyone recognizes as Han Solo's blaster). Because *that* is a semiautomatic pistol.

When communicating with someone that uses the emotional aspect, give them an emotional response. "I am sorry that someone you know was killed with a gun, I never want to experience the pain and helplessness I am sure you feel. THAT is why I choose to carry.
