Thanks guys. I'm from the UK, but I like to hear about new products. With the anticipation of people going crazy and stock piling food during the start of C19, I already had many packets of Ramen style noodles, dry cured meats and pulses. I think this is even more important than ammunition reviews for when Armageddon besets us. For the most part, we already know how various weaponry works and what the dynamics of a given calibre of cartridge is when loaded to a given charge weight of a specific propellant. But survival rations are different! We need to know if it is worth continuing living!!!

Great video fellas! I have prepped freeze dried for years and even own my own freeze dryer. Currently I freeze dry eggs from my chickens and any leftovers we may have left. Eric, they freeze dry milk as well, you can get powdered milk! Nutrient contents is retained at like 90%, you can also freeze dry meats and things like that. Biggest issue for freeze drying is fats and oils. If there’s too much fat and/or oil they will spoil much sooner. You need to try doing a full hamburger patty. It’s a trip. Let it soak in water for a while and it’ll be a patty again. I’m loving the survival/Prep content!!

There used to be a "biscuit" type ration where you got 4 "biscuits" that were extremely crumbly per day. They were a little under 2"x2"x0.5". 1000 calories for 4 of them and they were surprisingly light, something like 0.75 pounds for a 1 day pack. You could walk for miles with those in your pack. Why? They tasted bloody awful and it was a case of "I've got to keep going and find some food or it's those damn biscuits again".

Those small packets may seem convenient, but 200 calories here, and 190 calories there doesn't put a dent in the average 2000 calorie diet/day needed, let alone the 2750-3000 calories/ day thats needed by active duty personnel. As for vacuum sealing smaller portions from #10 cans, you'll need to use oxygen absorbers and mylar bags to maintain that long shelf life - regular vacuum sealer bags won't cut it. You guys rock! What if you broke the seal and broke down the serving size, how bad does it destroy the shelf life?

Something that does concern me is I have to watch my salt intake. I have a history of high blood pressure and I've already had a heart attack. Do any of these have a low sodium option?

Excellent question! I don't have to watch my sodium intake, but I don't like heavily salted foods. Personal preference.

Of the freeze dried food I've bought the serving sizes seem to be based on the minimum amount to keep you alive. If you are going to be busy or want to feel full, expect half or as little as a fourth of the stated servings. If there is a company that makes a quality product and gives good sized portions I'd like to know who they are.

One puff is better than none when you are a tobacco addict. If not one, they are always handy for barter.
