Back when I was in school, I enjoyed drawing stuff, firearms included. I especially liked drawing sleek agressive looking sniper rifles, either taken from pictures or designed by me from the ground up. Near the end of school I got in trouble for it (on the tail end of sandy hook, if I recal) I got called in to the principle, and he was understanding, I explained I just liked the shape, but he still said in the end "myou just shouldn't, because it scares people, it sends a bad message". That pretty much solidified my decision to leave, because a school who bragged about art had just told me that my art wasn't allowed because it "sends a bad message". The media in it's current state is toxic, and not concerned with real issues, just overblowing things, and demonizing superficial things. Also, what is you guys opinion of agnostics and atheists, because we are literally the most hated and feared minority in America, and unjustly (we are the most peaceful minority by polls, and we are about 15% of the population). Are we also entitled to freedom/protection from religion?

Annalee H I liked drawing and writing about guns in highschool too, and wrote short stories in creative writing class that paralleled the things I was doing in Fallout: New Vegas at the time. I was lucky to have an awesome gamer teacher that was a fan of the classic shooters, so he enjoyed my references to games like Half-Life I’d make, and would mention in his notes other game tie-ins that would’ve fit well. If I had a more politically correct teacher (Ie: a female one) I’d have assumed they’d get upset over stories suggesting to gun violence.

when it comes to this topic, i like to think of guns like dogs, it's all about what happens with it, grandpa's old lever action 3030 would be like a pug/Chihuahua (or some other small dog), where as an AK or AR would represent a pitbull, they get a bad rep because of it's owner, it's how you train it, if you train it to fight, it will attack. Some see a pitbull as a killer, just like how gun grabbers see black rifles

The change in firearm appearance over time can literally be compared to TVs from the 50s till now. Back in the 50s they were heavy and didn't have HD settings. Now we have lightweight "evil" black flatscreens that have been produced to keep up with modern times. Just like firearms, which have come a long way from flintlock rifles. With time and technology moving forward, firearms have also been modified and produced to meet modern standards. With semi auto rifles we're able to have follow up shots incase we miss the previous. We have lighter materials to build our firearms with rather than wood so we can carry half the weight. The media portrays modern sport rifles as military grade equipment that is too dangerous for the common man. In reality our sport rifles are comparable to being modern muskets.

I wanna see someone illustrate the idea of good and evil in people, and that guns are just a tool. Picture a classic western shootout. The bad guy is wearing a shirt that says evil, and the good guy is wearing a shirt that says good. The clock strikes noon, and they pull out their guns, one blue and one red. The good guy takes the bad guy out, and the bad guy drops his gun, which turns blue when it leaves his hand. We see a gun shop, owned by good honest people like those at Moss Pawn. All the guns are blue. We see a montage of gun safes opening inside people's homes, all the guns are blue. We see a shot of a neighborhood from above, some houses colored blue, a small fraction red. The camera zooms out, we see a nation made of blue, with barely perceptible dots of red.

I have the whole "a gun is just like a hammer" nonsense. A hammer can be used to hurt someone, but it's designed for hitting nails. A guns purpose is to kill. Whether in conflict, self defense or hunting... It's to make something alive no longer be alive. So comparing to something not for that purpose is really lazy IMO. Don't get me wrong, I am pro gun. If someone intends to cause you, your family/love ones or even just someone around you seriously bodily harm, you have the right to use deadly force. But please, let's call it like it is. Guns are meant for killing, and they are dangerous.

Excellent gun grip. You know it wasn't long ago (1979) that we reloaded at our high school. We had a trap club in the fall and spring, won trophies, had a good time. No one got hurt. In fact at the time there was never one single accident in a school related trap club across the country. Remington donated 3- 1100's and 3- 870's. A local gun shop permanately loaned us a progressive shot press. In the winter we shot handguns, We reloaded at our history teachers house. We learned resposiblity.

If you really want to stop crime, don't keep guns from the general public. Just keep them away from possible or past criminals.
@jennij93898 жыл бұрын
What exactly constitutes a "possible" criminal? Once the line of "possible" is crossed concerning one's rights to gun ownership, it becomes a far too slippery slope for the gun grabbers to take guns away from everyone! Like Eric said, "it's not the tool, it's the person" If one really wants to commit a crime, they will commit a crime. One thing a law abiding citizen can do to protect themselves from such a criminal (including a tyrannical government) is to have and/or use their gun!
@thomasgensamer83248 жыл бұрын
I agree but i feel like he meant more "mentally unstable" as "possible criminals". I would not mid a mental screening to buy a gun. Cause some people are straight crazy and really shouldn't own guns. I'm talking undocumented actually schizophrenics and sociopaths. That's a very small percentage but that seems like the best answer. I'm not even saying they can never own guns just that there should be a preliminary screening and if something looks wrong, follow up with a more in depth screening and if everything comes back clear then no problems.

As far as springs go, assuming they are of good quality in the first place, it is the expansion and contraction that wears them out during use. Stored compressed or relaxed they will last a long time without harm. Spring movement is what wears them out. I have read accounts of full magazines for the M-16 being found stored since the Vietnam war era that just functioned flawlessly after all that time being fully loaded with spring compressed.

The first "evil-looking rifle", (A.K.A. assault rifle) was the FallshirmjagerGewehr42 (FG42 for short. German for "paratrooper rifle"). It came out in 1942. 5 years before the AK47 of which you were making reference to. It is also widely believed by military historians that the AK47 was (at least partly) based off the german MP44 (also known as StG44, short for SturmGewehr44, german for "Stormrifle") of 1944. Just wanted to expand your knowledge. I completely agree about the lever action though.

What type of gun are you looking for? Pistols, long range-rifles, short-range rifles, etc. If you're short on cash: Remington Model 770 Bolt-Action which fires .300 winchester mag. If you have a little cash: Remington Model 70 VLS which fires .223 (or 5.56) .223 is a good hunting round. Where as 5.56 is more for your personal safety. If you want a personal defense weapon look for Colt's rifles and pistols. These are all personal recommendations. Do what you will with it.

The thing is with the Branch Davidians, they weren't seeking war or altercation, it was mainly a 'you leave us along and we'll leave you alone' type of thing. If they'd have been militaristic minded then they'd have been ready for such an event and would have dug exit tunnels. In other words they'd likely have gotten away or been able to flank them, in all honestly the Law could have actually lost that battle (of course the Davidians would've eventually lost the war).

FYI, as of 2012 the U.S. maintains 2,150 operational warheads. We also have another 2,800 in reserve and as many as 3000 awaiting dismantlement. Israel maintains a stockpile of 75-200 warheads according to a 2002 estimate. informed opinion puts them at about 60-80 as of today. Also, Iran is well within the target range of a LGM-30G (8000 NM) Est. Or if you prefer a sub launched Trident II (5,000 NM). Both were built by the lowest bidder but will hit what aimed at. Just saying...
