I am completely fascinated by what a wonderful mom Iris is to her precious chicks. Iris is no spring 'chicken', but she does an amazing 'Mumberella' - sheltering the young under those massive wings and I love the way she shifts as the sun moves during the entire day. Thanks to young Finn and his expertise in bringing his precious family the fish required to raise the young and keep the entire family hydrated in this awful heat.

🦜 I've been watching Iris for a number of yrs now. She is the exemplary Mom Osprey if there ever is one! ❤ One can learn alot by watching the "oldest" living Osprey in the 🌎 world. A perfect example. Her name is *Iris*

I live in the UK and the first ospreys I ever saw were at the RSPB reserve at Loch Garten in Scotland in 1998. They are wonderful birds. It's good to see these two chicks are doing well.

Aren’t both chicks gorgeous? I’ve privately decided the older is female and named her Baby Iris. So of course the feisty young un is male - Baby Finn. ❤❤

I've been thinking the same thing, but I never thought about giving them my own personal names. I've been calling the younger one 'wee' one, but he (if he is indeed a male) is not 'a wee one' anymore.

@@janetlowe6453 looks like it's crop is pretty big (near end of this clip). The bigger chick was beating up on the smaller one - preventing it from eating - last week. I'm glad to see that the small chick is still alive.

I don't think she feeds the other smaller chick as much as she feeds the bigger chick. Good Mom yes but she should be feeding them equally.

I saw an open nest where an eaglet died and they installed a panel for shade. I wish there were more, and I'm sure the birds would love it too. Weird certain birds just build their nests in the full sun. 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌡️🔥

Apparently, ospreys are adept at providing shade for their young in full sun, as Iris has been demonstrating daily.
