My mother owned and ran a scratch bakery. A local Irish pub had her bake something similar with their leftover deli meat ends with cabbage, potatoes and onions. They had her make them a yeast dough and called them blarney buns. Sort of like your hand pies. They were so good and used up stuff you may let waste. Yum

Add some Guinness, about half of how much water you use and the filling will be more creamy (and more "Irish" ;) )

OK you had me until you put that great wadge of cabbage in the pie mix, I'm on blood thinners so my doc would have 40 fits if I ate that, can you please suggest something I can use OTHER than cabbage, that is NOT green NOT cauliflower either, apparently that's a big no no too please help a poor ex pat.

why is she shopping why is she chopping the thyme beforehand? doesn't she know that herbs lose their essential oils the moment they're crushed or chopped?
