I feel like Absinthe is the “hot pepper” of alcohol. Like, you think you’ll be a badass drinking it and it does taste good, but then it just kicks you in the back of the throat. It is like 60-80% alcohol, compared to a beer or a wine which is like 4% lol

Light beer is around 4 percent. I'd say most non light beer is between 5-8. I've had some premium beers up to 12-14 percent. There's also cheap malt liquors guaranteed to give you a hangover that go from 8-12 percent. Wine generally goes from 12-15, but sweet wines can be around 10. I've seen some really cheap sweet wines below that, but I'm not sure if you can really call them wine at that point. A standard shot of liquor is 40 percent, but a strong whisky can be up to 50 percent. When drinking, I can definitely tell the difference between a 40 and 50 abv liquor when I start getting a buzz. These were really strong liquors. I've drank my fair share, and these would still have me on my ass pretty quick. If you're taking shots of this stuff, you better take it slow.

I'm from the US. I drink absinthe regularly. Multiple brands & its hard to find or I have to special order it. It's an acquired taste. It takes experience to dilute it. You eventually figure out your ratio. Me personally, I don't use sugar in my drinks. All these brands shown I haven't tried. So thanks! Time to put in requests to my local liquor store.

It's a 1 part Absinthe to 4 parts water. Add or subtract water to taste. If you hate black liquorice and or Jagermeister it might not be for you. If you soak the sugar cube and set on fire be careful.

They're consuming it the wrong way. It's to be diluted in water with a sugar cube like the first round was. Absinthe is more about the ritual of releasing the green fairy than getting drunk off of it. If its "good" Absinthe, you only can handle one glass because you're so high. Not drunk, high.
