Gone too soon was Greene; I thought it was sweet how Greene & his wife would kiss before the game (I like mushy nonsense like that). Greene was one of the NFL's great pass rushers: I feel he was also likeable, entertaining, funny, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable (I recall his stint on ESPN post-career).

I remember Barry foster, Bam Morris, Jerome Bettis as the running backs for the steelers in the 90s.

Barry Foster led the AFC in Rushing in 1992. Guy ran for over 1600 yards in the only full season he played (outside Rookie Year under Noill, where he only had 36 carries but averaged 5.6 / carry) over his short 5 year career. If he stayed healthy, he could have been great.

The Steelers under Bill Cohwer in the 1990s were almost impossible to beat on Monday Night Football, especially when they played at home.

Im a Steelers fan since birth, but would like to add that I would take the Steelers losing MNF games at home in place of Cowher's losing AFC Title games at home anyday (1-4).

Well unfortunately they let San Diego hang around in the afcc game and they took it. Honestly I think the 49ers would have won regardless. Would have been a good game though.

@@RotiPani75 Maybe maybe not sadly we'll never know 94 AFC championship game still hurts more than any other loss the steelers have ever had except except maybe Super Bowl number 30 😪

I think the team was still learning about being consistent winners and they needed to open up the offense a bit (the team knew this, and just that in 1995). Maybe the Steelers didn't win a Super Bowl in this era, but at least they didn't waste their talent like their opponent on this 1994 Monday night. Wow, this is when Yancey Thigpen was the #3 receiver? Yeah, that had to change: Charles Johnson was something of a disappointment (didn't reach 1,000 yards until 1996, and just the one), and Ernie Mills & Andre Hastings were good for this team, but we're not exactly talking the Hines Ward/Plaxico Burress, Antawn Randal El trio (Eric Green was their most consistently dangerous target in the passing game, and Green was not without his problems-injuries, a drug suspension, and effort that wavered from season to season).

They should have won the championship game against the chargers there were two bad blitzes that caused that not to happen

Warren Moon shouldn't left the oilers. He was the QB for the run and shoot.
@gluserty
@gluserty 2 жыл бұрын
The Oilers traded him; in my mind he was done a favor, as it must've been frustrating quarterbacking the Oilers, and Moon could've used a change (problem is that the Vikings weren't exactly playoff warriors either, and that Vikings D began to sag after Noon was acquired). Bud Adams planned on blowing the team up if they didn't win in 1993, and Moon was 37 years old (he still had 3 excellent seasons left in him, with two different franchises). Cody Carlson proved not to be the long-term solution, but that's okay, since Steve McNair was on the way.
@jimmyplenderleith9471
@jimmyplenderleith9471 6 ай бұрын
I think McNair who eventually showed up was a much better option. No disrespect to Moon, but he had 0 playoff success his whole career. McNair took the team to a couple AFC titlte games and a SB.
