IS A MK6 FIESTA ZETEC S A GOOD FIRST CAR?

I picked up an unloved, tired mk6 1.4 16v zetec 2yrs ago, cleaned it up, full service, put new tyres on it and touch wood, it has been a great little car, even goes round corners better than my tdi golf did.

I have a Ford Fiesta Mk6 (Duratec 101ps) but 5 door as first car. Just rebuilding the fiesta to the st. (ST rear bumper, seats, steering wheel etc..) really nice car!

Had a renault 12 which was a hunk of junk, then a skoda fabia which was ok in the city but fuel consumption was a nightmare, now I'm on this fiesta the pre facelift and it's a blast to drive

Nice! I've had my fiesta mk6 for 15 years this year was from new at the time, it's only done 37k miles so it hasn't been driven a lot as it's used for short journeys mainly. Very reliable car it's got quite a few mods now, especially in the last 6months. It's only a 1.25 but it's nippy once you are going especially around town and the B roads. I don't think I could ever sell it lol I've become so attached to it I mean it hasn't got too many features like air con or anything but because it was my first and I've looked after it I don't need to get another anytime soon unless I was doing motorway journeys every day.

@@SGDRIVEN2021 I know lol most people change them every 1-3 years don't they! As long as it gets me from A to B I'm fine. I have looked at other cars but thought I'd probably get way more issues and wouldn't be worth it. No not really any issues there's always the odd few here and there isn't there. For the longest time I had 1 missing b-pillar (i think it's called down the side of the door) it flew off down motorway years back lol I never could be bothered getting a new one till last year when I started adding little things here and there. The only thing that has been fixed in the last year was I had a slight coolant leak, i think it was around the spark plugs area so I got that done but apart from that year after year I don't get any problems probably because I keep on top of everything. I've basically made a standard mk6 into my own little trim line lol I'll try and tell you what I've added there not all massive things some are bigger mods than others mind. 15"alloys with sports tyres forgot the name,duel chrome racing exhaust with resonator, a mini aerial,Wind deflectors, ford seatbelt pads,led blacked out turn signals, tyre pressure monitor and scangauge2 fitted to Speedo,stereo, eng flag number plates, led bright white numberplate lights, led bright white dome light,added a custom light to passenger door and in the boot,new gear gaitor and knob. Probably a few I've missed but the good thing when your cars old you start adding anything lol I've recently added some exterior front lights that look cool ran off solar power. People probably think I'm a right weirdo lol 😂

@@SGDRIVEN2021 They are reliable engines especially for town and short driving if I pounded it on motorway everyday maybe it wouldn't be in the shape it's in now lol. Yeah I've made it my own alright don't think I'd have trouble selling it if the time ever came but I don't think I could I'm not a sentimental type of guy but I don't think I could ever give it away lmao 🤣 anyway I enjoyed your video 👌

I own a St150. I often think "why?" I can't (legally do 130 on the motorway) use the high speed option of the car (which I may off). Then the 0-60 advantage of a ST over a Z, can I really use this legally and regularly, I don't know. Still, I'm in love with my St150 and always smile when entering, or leaving my little pocket rocket.

My grandad used to have a mk6 fiesta zetec-s 2005 05 reg (I think) it was a years ago I think pre facelift good car it’s either this or a corsa SRI

yeah they are great dailys/ first cars etc. i would personally go for a fiesta over a Corsa a lot more modifications for them and they are really reliable.

@@SGDRIVEN2021 ST zetec s is very good but because it’s a 2.0 rather than a 1.6 and power zetec s: 99bhp 1.6 ST: 2.0 148 bhp and I like the Shelby stripes:) but still love the zetec s and I like the ghia models with 15 inch alloys and velour interior and just subbed btw

I’ve got a 1.2 corsa atm as my first car and I’m hoping to upgrade to one of these. Test driven one of my mates and thought it was so nice, good speed, and they look great. Both of my mates zetec’s have exhausts on them which I won’t be able to get because the insurance would be 2500 ffs, and They both haven’t told the insurance which I can’t risk😂. But even without an exhaust, the car will be such an upgrade from a 1.2

If I change the date i need my quote to the end of the month the quote goes from about £1700 to like £900 😆 so I’m not sure if that’ll legit work but if it does I could even get an ST since the insurance wouldn’t be 2500 it’s be 1100 ish. I’ll have to see what happens when I get 1 year no claims and saved up a little bit more, absolutely can’t wait 👌🏻

@@SGDRIVEN2021 They are great to drive, that is the diesels, I’ve not drive a petrol myself. Handling is alright actually, fairly responsive and smooth. Only thing is the soft suspension going round corners with a bit of speed, just ruins the comfort aspect. I hopefully will get lowering springs and see if there is much improvement with those.

Ford Fusion 1.4 tdci amazing practical car. It is not fast, but gets the job done. Very economical. No problem with turns. Good AC. Had it for 5 years, but we crashed it few months ago unfortunately. Still thinking on buying another one.
