So these could vary well be different manufacturers that were tested both by Intertek and the numbers that are also on the label are the specs that the shredders are assured against. For a shredder, I think the duty cycle is more important than the number of pages. I know that that's what caused you a problem when doing more sheets. As it heated up, it got weaker. That's fairly normal, and treating the shredders like you did is likely to kill them. Needing to do a max of 10-12 pages is annoying. Needing to use the shredder for 5 minutes & then wait another 5 for it to cool down is much worse. At least, it is in my experience.

So for the side cutter testing when it wouldn't cut through the nail towards the head. This is because they harden the heads of a lot of nails so they a less likely to bend or misshape. Pretty sure that's what was happening there.

FYI, a lot of locations around the United States will collect paper and cardboard if it is kept unshredded in recycling, but many will not recycle shredded paper. They will only throw shredded paper in the garbage and not recycle it. So it is best for the planet to only shred important documents and not every paper you have.

All decorators tape seems to react to the water in the paint and make it gooey on its tape . To stop the bleeding use a roller as this helps stick the paint down. And the reason why the spray paint bled more is because it has to be thinned enough so it can spray through the nozzle of the spray can . The fluidity / viscosity is different

A lot of times when an item looks exactly the same as the name brand they are made in the same factory but the difference comes down to a multitude of things such as fit and finish and quality of materials used. On metal items I would suspect that cheaper metal is used or a different blend causing them to be softer and wear out faster. But that's something that would be known over you know a long time.

Tyler, the reason the nail doesn't cut at the very end is because it has nothing stabilizing it as when you were holding it with your hand before. Right before you make the last cut, you let go of it which then there's nothing to hold the nail while cutting... Then it twists/shifts and doesn't cut.

With the cutters and the drywall nails, when you got down to the end of the nails, you didn't have enough room left to hold the nail while cutting. Since you weren't holding the nails, they turned when you tried to cut them that's why they didn't cut all the way through.
@tbelding
@tbelding 2 жыл бұрын
More importantly on the paint test. 1) Spray paint is thinner and contains more VOC's, so it'll seep more. 2) If you're using painters tape, you try to NOT brush _against_ the edge of the tape, but rather either with it, or at an angle. Less important if you're using a roller, but the bristles will pull the edge of the tape. You were brushing back and forth across the tape.

Can you remove painters tape when paint is wet? Some painters believe it is best to remove painter's tape once the paint has dried. However, it's best if the tape is removed while the paint is still wet. This prevents the paint and the tape from bonding, which can result in a jagged edge when the tape is removed, taking pieces of paint with it. Depending on the paint at hand of course, every paint will act differently on different surfaces.

I'm a logger. Keep shredding that paper. As my dad says when he uses way too many paper towels, "Job security".. Lol.

You should try a neck tie in the paper shredders. There's always safety warnings about getting your tie caught in the shredder

Had the *big* Amazon Basics shredder. The one for cardboard. Died after the first use (or more accurately, the fill sensor got stuck, so it's broken because they don't offer parts to replace/repair it).

With the shredders, they overheat and become less effective. Even with normal numbers you are supposed to only do so much throughput at a time. Could try again with 16 sheets each when they are cold.

The reason the nails weren’t cutting all the way through is because u weren’t holding them steady, they will twist just enough to not get a solid cut. If u held the nail with a finger on either side while it was short, it probably would have cut just fine. Love ur content man…keep ‘em comin

Get a square of sheetrock for the paint test next time will cut down the imperfections due to the plywood.

Watching the paper come out on the other side of the shredder is an ASMR vibe I didn't know I needed.

they didn't cut through on the dry wall nails because you weren't holding it like you held the rest, so it tends to bend when there isn't a support system in place (your hand)

From working in an office, I know that those staplers are for < 10 pages. For >20 use a large, heavy-duty manual stapler, uses larger and thicker staples, too.

The real mark of a good shredder isn't how many sheets it can do at once, but how long it can handle a continuous feed before it goes into thermal shutdown. Like if you have 10 reams or 5000 sheets, how many can you do before you need to give it a 30-40 minute break

On the staplers, we always called the "stick" a mag, because we shot them at each other with rubber bands. Great video!

With painters tape, wipe over them with a damp cloth first, let that dry then paint - you will get a much sharper line. There is a substance that swells and fills the gap between the surface and the tape. I learned this tip from a Pro painter.

Try the tape on a piece of painted Sheetrock. The grain in the plywood allows the paint to bleed under the tape. Plus some tapes left on painted Sheetrock too long will remove the paint and even sometimes the paper from the Sheetrock.

Those first pliers are exactly the same except for the top of the handle. The amazon basics has a slightly wider top wich makes it actually a little bit safer (less chance of hand slipping off when holding in difficult positions like tight spaces) and thus better.

We get a crap ton of cardboard boxes these days due to ordering so much lately, i have a sunjoe electric tree chipper i think i paid $80 for a few years ago, when the boxes build up in the garage i chip them up in the wood chipper, then i spread it in the garden beds as much.. Usually i shred them twice to make them extra fine, by spreading them into a 5 gallon bucket.
