Find item barb is literally the best class to start ladder, for experienced player only* Back in the old LoD you couldn't make games in rapid succession so your best starter was the sorc, because of teleport (also best bot class), so you could teleport to mep, andariel, maybe few more places and complete the session. In D2R the best way to find items is pindleruns by the time you will find any end act boss you could have done a fair number of pindleruns, and the best pindle runner is the find barb. It is little difficult to get it started to that point but once you get to that point you will shoot through the race like a flash, and get very rich, surpassing everyone else. Once the market is flooded with items, you can transition to travincal for those good rune drops.

I always picked ww barb as my 1st char on hc, and I consider it solid. Can go anywhere (except maybe ubers) and slowly but surely do all the stuff. The only challenge is to get a decent weapon, unlike pally who just gets 2x spirit, lore and stealth and is geared for hell.

I have never understood the idea that barbs are weak. Even with no high runes, I could survive long enough to do just about anything. When sorcs feared hell baal teleport runs, I'd just run though myself. Then I got a fortitude and dual oaths and could run chaos pretty competently. It wasn't ground breakingly fast, but I wasn't ever at risk of dying either. Then when I got dual griefs, it was GG. I can run anything, and since I'm often rune hunting, I don't really want to skip mobs, so the lack of teleport isn't an issue. Immunes aren't an issue. I don't have to kite mobs -- I just wade in and beat things to death. I don't have to be careful around anything. Just turn off the brain and spin to win. When you see phys immunes, switch to berserk. GG. Don't even need a merc. Not the fastest, but definitely the easiest, cheapest, and most versatile class to run.

While I do have like a BILLION "bad things" to say about *"Diablo 3",* I will say that *Barbarian (D3) > Barbarian (D2) by MILES AHEAD!* In fact, I'd say the Barbarian class in Diablo 3 is my *2nd FAVORITE character in the ENTIRE game behind the Wizard* (he was extremely satisfying to play in D3 I will admit).

I'm def getting a Barb as my ladder starter, but that's with stashed FG for mid-game trades and some friends to play with to run through Hell. Trav runs on a Barb is without a doubt the best way to get rich in this game.

Yeah this 100%. Even low budget frenzy barb can run travincal just fine. I tested barb in ptr with unbending will + law bringer and was easily doing 4 mim chaos runs. Travincal was easy too. Unbeding will + law bringer/azure wrath Treachery Gface/ik helm Loh Goblin toes Angelics With this gear you can do almost everything in the game but you should stick to travincal. You should be able to find most of your items by doing nm meph few times. All you need is black and malice to start farming that nm andariel (you can even farm ubers with these). But yeah, each to their own.

ive been playing this game for 20 years and never once did i think of that barb leap trick lol. and barb is one of my preferred characters too lol. i feel a little foolish having never even considered that before. but straight up, barb has been my reset toon for years now. trailing horker as you call it. at long as you have BO most people dont care if you hang back, since barbs are a lot slower at killing than everything else, they barely even notice the difference.

comes in handy a bunch when i was hosting hell baal runs with my tele barb. i tele to throne and if its a bad throne room with souls and dolls or its packed i just leap leap leap get a BO on one tick then go back to leaping while others come thru my TP and kill everything. monsters cant do shit

I'm pretty sure the fastest way to get rich start of season is just looting corpses and selling off Pala/Sorc gear that drops early at a high premium and then trade for your significantly cheaper melee items. You could even forego Enigma and just trade your wealth early for Grief and slap mobs.

New runewords with pretty cheap Unbending Will, a3 merc with high lvl enchant, faster leap, war cry buff, berserk synergy change and ability to upgrade some of the items you would naturally use on barb should actually move him up in the new ssf ladder tier lists.

I might roll a barb first just for how difficult it is to play through and level up solo, as opposed to my usual sorceress. I don't think I'll be going for 99. Even if I really wanted to I'll just re-aggravate the carpel tunnel. I just want to farm overpriced items for FG to fund a 50K PvP char. Or so I can have an enigma/cta/anni on every character. tldr ladder is about the money, for me. I've never got a character higher than my current 95 sorc.

Sing barb is surprisingly decent for start imo even as solo. The items you really need to be functional are all purchasable from shops or just take a couple low runes from countess.

Key farmer + smiter in the first weeks is the most profitable. (farmed first two weeks only and still have alot of wealth left and two decked out pvp chars. Second best strat imo is to go barb. You can farm nihlatak very early on and do travincal for hrs. You should expect to find few hrs on the fisrt week when those are insanely valuable. You would need to meph farm for weeks to find enough shakos to compare what kind of runes trav barb can find. In addition you can gamble circlets (low value at start, but prices gos up mid mid ladder when pvp start) and craft amulets, smiters gloves etc. Simple 2/10/all res amulets can net some good values early on. Imo only noobs go for meph farming and they will be stuck doing that for all ladder and staying poor.

Sorc should just go nova spec and farm hell cows instead of boss farming. End game items / high runes and rune base words. But agree farming trav as barb is also very good 😊

And you know what, it's not so bad, you just don't skip everything in the game but you still can cheese angles and stuff if you want. Here's a real question for everyone. How's frenzy barb? I mean on paper it looks super good. Insane attack speed, super fast run/walk to get from point A to B. I imagine it being really good against bosses with some lifesteal you should just be able to facetank everything. But never seen anyone doing it. Is there any reason why this isint a thing? P.S.
