Michael Keaton just recently turned 73, yet he still has boundless energy as Beetlejuice, gloriously chewing the scenery. The ghost with the most has still got it.

I love the over the top way they wrote off Charles' death. It really fits with the overall campy humour, and the sets were fantastic, especially in the Netherworld.

Its also a great way to not even show the actor's face since he was arrested on sexual assault charges. His character doesnt even have the top of his body, its genius.

The use of the DEO song first bothered me as well. But then I thought, it would make sense that Charles Deetz would choose that song to be sung at his funeral. He did have a life altering experience with it, that proved to him there is an afterlife.

Spoiler Alert!!🚨 I think it would’ve melded better if Beetlejuice’s deal with Lydia wasn’t “I save your daughter and you marry me,” but “I save your daughter and y’all help me get rid of my ex-wife.” Have her crash the wedding earlier than she did, and when they stop her that’s when Beetlejuice is like “oh will ya look there, guess we gotta get married now cause it was in the fine print of the contract and you were in such a hurry you didn’t read it through.” Then have Lydia and her daughter find some way to put a stop to him on their own. Maybe even with Willam Dafoe’s help.

I actually liked this one, I thought the humor and the visuals really made this a fun movie. I watched the first one just before seeing the second one and I thought it worked really well as a sequel. There’s callbacks to the first movie for sure, but I don’t think it leaned to heavily on those as a lot of legacy sequels do. I actually really commend the film for not rehashing the story of the first one.

What upset me and the only complaint I could make is it opened with the best scene and storyline build up and they dropped it completely never went back to it but it was there to build up and say hey this is beetle juices business

Saw this in theatres and was really delighted. Definitely didn't feel like a cynical cash grab (which was my fear) but like a labour of love. The ex-wife subplot felt undercooked and I could pick at a few little things. But ultimately, anything that feels like the story could have been more focused, also feels messy in the way "what happens after the original story" should be messy. I was worried Jenna Ortega would just seem like Wednesday but she really didn't feel like the same character to me. I didn't think the Day-O seemed crowbarred in. Made perfect sense in context to me. Soundtrack was wonderful! Can't wait to pick up a copy. Guess I'm with Nadia on this one.

I hate most legacy sequels, and I was concerned that they would push Jenna as the lead to make it more Gen-Z friendly but thank God that did not happen. Ryder is the lead here, she's great, Keaton is awesome, O' Hara is hilarious, even Theroux was good here and I'm usually not a fan of his acting. Jenna is playing the moody teenager again but she's fine overall and the movie really isn't about her which is good. The biggest flaws were too many storylines and a few characters including the great William Dafoe just had nothing to do in this movie. I'm still going with like a 7/10.

Honestly I really enjoyed it. The comedic energy was there the whole way through. The actors nailed their roles. The jokes were all on point. I was honestly kinda worried that this movie would just be a bunch of CGI vomit but I was pleasantly surprised. I really miss practical effects and I wish more movies would go the route of practical effects with CGI when needed to push it a little further. Overall was smiling the whole way through.

Im Nadia in this. I think it was a lot of fun. And while it was not developed, Beetlejuice does explain that she need Lydia to marry her, to stop her ex wife. I didnt quite understand how, but Beetlejuice does mention it. But if we follow the first movie, if Beetlejuice marries he gets to be in the live world. So the marriage would alowe him to escape her ex wife. I do think its not clearly explained in the movie, but it is mentioned.

Yeah, Monica Bellucci is completely unnecessary. Probably a callback to the wedding ring and finger from the original movie. She's definitely only in this because she's married to Burton. I did like Dafoe. Beetlejuice is a troublemaker messing with both the living and afterlife, so maybe keeping Willem Dafoe's character as an afterlife cop tracking down and contain Beetlejuice could have worked. Either way, I feel like the focus should have been more on the strained relationship between Lydia and Astrid. Tim Burton's recent work feels like a parody of what he was in the 90s.

Sorry, homie. I 100% agree with Nadia. Maybe cause I'm falling in love with her, but really, i think the criticism of this movie is too harsh. This movie plays out like a 2 hr episode of the cartoon. So if you see it from that "it's just fun fun" perspective, the movie would be perfectly fine. I loved it and usually i have very strict standards for movies. I knew how to watch it, and I did, and it was a great time.

Saw it today and it was just “meh”. Wasaaay too many subplots that had absolutely ZERO to do with anything else that was going on. Could’ve taken Monica Bellucci and Willem Defo’s characters and plots out, and the movie would not have been affected at all. Felt like they were there just to fill up time. Save your money & see or when it comes out on streaming.

10:41 it gets worse. Not only did they use his likeness for the animated segment, but they used an actual picture of his face for his tombstone. Between that and the glowing terms ("grandpa was the only normal member of this family", "he was such a great man") the character is described as, it really feels like Burton or the writers used the movie as a way to express solidarity with Jones.
