I saw another review say they felt like this movie was an experience to see what Disney was capable of with their CGI. Nonetheless, I don’t plan on watching this but it looks like another stale live action remake and really good point about telling the lions apart! That has to be confusing for kids.

Maybe because Russian is my native language but Ivan was unlikable from the start. He speaks to everyone like he talks to customer service. Not exactly impolite, just his tone is brass and dismissive all the time. You know instantly what he’s like. If he’s not talking like that he’s talking like a teenager, like the actor watched VladA4 religiously to be like that.

Do kids care about prequels? I never heard of a kid asking the psychology of a wolf and how it became a pig eating, house blowing villain.

As a kid I feel like if I really liked the initial movie it was exciting to see the characters again like the original lion king 1 1/2 for example. It was interesting to see the backstory to side character like Timon and pumba but this CGI doesn’t interest me.

"Fun" fact: they call it live action because, legally, they'd have to pay the artists more if it was called CGI. Its all a big ploy to not pay people what they're worth. Merry Christmas!

Saw the weird clip of the villain screaming - I suspect at one point they had an inkling of an idea to have his rhino powers perhaps become uncontrollable? So in that scene he was doing a stand in reaction meant to be covered up with shit CGI later on but they just never put it in when the subplot got cut. That's my theory

I watched the original Wizard of Oz for the first time since I was a kid and it's painful how dated the songs are. The standards for lyrics back then were sooo much lower. I know times change but I feel like a child could've written most of the OG songs.

Oh god, they explain how pride rock became pride rock? Awesome! So, it‘s another „Solo - A Star Wars Story“ where they just explain everything that doesn‘t need explaining everything that doesn‘t need explaining, just so people go „oh, oh, oh, I remember that!!!!“ Cool. Great idea. After all, everybody loved that, when „Solo“ did it, right?

Personally I am glad to see Sonic beating the tar out of this movie in the box office is Hilarious. Like Sonic has phenomal CGI, it’s clear that people have passion and care about Sonic. This though is Disney slop. Sonic has a good balance of realism while being cartoony and expressive. I am so burnt out on modern disney because it so homogenized and lacks the artistry and sucks out the soul of the original. Like if mufasa was animated im sure that they would do much better

The Star Wars prequels ruined movies. Backstory, lore and world building have replaced telling an actual story.

The best I can say about this is, at least they had the balls to go with an R rating and show some blood. Not that it made the movie any good, but Sony has set the bar low. I will never get over them titling a movie "Let There Be Carnage" and rating it PG-13.

I still maintain that the only good live action Disney movie was Cinderella, and that's because they made it it's own thing! The characters were great. They didn't force in musical numbers, and they added characterization where necessary. Live action Cinderella is so good! Then they ruined everything after that.

When Gryla was talking about getting everyone on the naughty list and Dwayne Johnson was like “that would include Jaywalkers.” I was sitting there like “so Santa is a cop in this movie why does breaking an arbitrary law make you naughty.”

Ya know what would’ve been am amazing? If the current/present storyline was the realistic stuff but the flashback story is stylized/cartoony cgi instead of hyper real meh art. Like at least then you have an identity for this film beyond “the las tone made so much we have to now”

I was really disappointed by this movie. I think a lot of that was due to my own expectations, I thought I was gonna be seeing modern silence of the lambs but scarier. I also kind of put the blame for that on them still tho because they marketed it that way. *spoilers* I was not expecting her to randomly be psychic (and then that to just kind of not be relevant for most of the movie), and I was rolling my eyes during the climax. Ohhhhh the serial killer is using fushigi magic balls implanted into life size dolls, and the fushigi balls just make everyone go totally wacko! Why is he doing it? Hail Satan LOL! Idk for me personally I was just like what the fuck are we doing rn by that point. I felt like I had been told to expect a really disturbing psychological thriller that mostly is focused on the characters and the tension of trying to find this sick evil bastard before another child is gone. Not whatever that was. I agree with Jake’s review and feel pretty validated cause after I had seen it everyone I talked to was saying it was a masterpiece and I felt like I was missing a lot. No hate to anyone who liked it, I really wanted to like it. I went into the theater really excited and honestly nervous that I was gonna see something fucked.

At least it's an original story instead of a remake. I still didn't want it but the live action Disney that takes some risks and makes actual changes at least have a chance to have a reason to exist.
